That's the issue I have found with finder scopes. Unless they are very low magnification with a wide field of view, can be tricky to acknowledge what you're looking at. You might want a 'target finder' (uses no magnification) to replace or use in conjunction with the finder scope. You can hone in on larger stars, planets, the moon much faster and use it to navigate from there.

It is quite small...ahem. Gorgeous results. Our club tried a Messier Marathon last weekend in our normally cloudless, decent seeing conditions (if you drive an hour out of the Vegas valley that is). Stormy all weekend..... Nice. How do you find the finder scope bolted on to the side? They can be awkward on some setups. I like using my Telrad 'targeter' - doesn't magnify, but lines things up perfectly. Ohio - Agree, Stellarium is a great free download and a doddle to use.

What kind of scope do you have? At 350 quid, should be good. Is it tripod mounted lens refractor or a fat Dobsonian on a swivel base? I'm going to attempt that supernova near Mars with some good skies. You should give it a shot yourself. Although it might need a video feed exposure and dark skies as Mars is so close to it. http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2012/03/120322-new-supernova-sn2012aw-stars-explode-space-science/ TwentyTwenty, I've got a 6 inch reflector (been very happy with it) but want to upgrade to at least a 10 inch. I like reflectors because they offer more aperture for the buck. Light gathering ability is key over mounts, fancy eyepieces, tracking, etc. Are those your shots SussexSaint? Bloody marvelous!

My son started at a Montessori School from about 3 until he reached about 6 when normal elementary school kicked in. It cost only a bit more than daycare. Overall very impressed that he started his education this way but glad he is in a regular school environment now. I was always impressed with the structure the teachers applied in the classroom and the hands on approach to solving problems and the social interaction between the kids and teacher. I have not had the chance to observe higher levels of Montessori or been with kids that are having middle school Montessori education to compare. There is now at least one non-fee Montessori school in town which is interesting.

Get the **** in! Had some catch up to do on this thread....

It is and it isn't according to Ridley Scott. Has more of a Bladerunner vibe running through it although set very much in the 'Alien' universe. I'm intrigued to find out more about the 'Space Jockeys' race of aliens that we get a peek of in the Alien film. The whole production has been shrouded in the utmost secrecy. Can not bloody wait to see this.

Great season finale episode down on the farm! Real anticipation for season three. Also read that another Brit, David Morrisey is set to join up in the next series.

Halfwat through Showtime's Homeland and am dead impressed with it. Claire Danes is excellent as the unbalanced CIA agent who is trying to foil a home based terrorist plot. In fact, acting all round top notch, pacing perfect and Morena Baccarin is so very yummy. Only a few episodes left. New season in September.

Yes, it happened to that other bloke too. Appears that at the end of first season before the lab blowing up, it was mentioned that it might have gone airborne? Thus everyone is infected and the phrase 'walking dead' describes the survivors.

And Saturn about an hour later in the east. Easy to spot...doesn't twinkle (as planets do not).

M42 is the Orion nebula (the middle 'star' of Orion's sword), not a galaxy. You're lucky though that the Horsehead is visible with the naked eye. We have to journey several hours out of the Vegas valley to see such treats. Hope it stays clear in the next few nights so to see Jupiter and Venus in the same wide field view eyepiece. In June, Venus is in conjunction with us and Sun which is rare.

Why was it that when the last character died, did they wake up a few moments later as a zombie when they didn't die at the hands of a zombie? I was a bit sidetracked when watching so may have missed a vital clue. I hope that they can move away from the farm next season. I much prefer the 'on the road' pace of the excellent first season.

35. Live in Las Vegas. Grew up in Surrey and lived in Southampton for 4 years. The lure of the Dell nearby sucked me in. First home game in 95 - 0-0 draw with Wimbledon First away game - few years later - Dellhurst part 1.

Both superb, propper aircraft. We have had an RAF Tristar on the ramp here at the airport for the past two weeks. So glad they have not all been replaced by nasty A330s yet. Couple of RAF Tornados just shot by the office too. Ahhhhh!

If everyone stops biting at Alpine's hook, maybe he'll get (even more) bored and cease?

Where was that?! Beverley Hills? McD's is nasty. That said, I did eat a couple of Chicken Snack Wraps today cos I needed lunch fast. The only thing I'll order, anything else gives me a headache and a bellyache. If I was used to downing the bigmacs and fries daily, I'd probably not suffer though....though I might be dead doing it. Fatburger and In N' Out on the other hand, are quality.
