So basically what you are saying, which is totally correct in my opinion, is that we need a couple of centre backs and a wide right midfield player. In other words exactly what we all said was needed the day after we beat Coventry 4-0 last April !!!!
-
It would be better to play them early on.....however if the players are playing a formation they are not comfortable with then it makes no difference, the outcome will be the same !
-
We will be if the players aren't confident playing in a formation they havent played in for the 2 years that they have been successful !! If you want to change it around you need players in who are comfortable with the set up, and I wonder if ours will be. It doesnt look like it.

Agreed, if Udinese, as good as they may be, can take us apart in a friendly what the hell will City, United and Arsenal do to us in competitve matches ?
-
Well perhaps one of the reasons the attendances have fallen with each friendly is because the matches have been bloody boring. Thats why i didnt bother tonight, despite having a ticket. This new formation worries me, even Adam Blackmore has tweeted that the players dont look comfortable with it and is/was this the summer to experiment ? Time will tell I suppose.

I bet at least one of them isn't in 3 weeks time. -
If Buttner is anything to go by another 16 pages

If we play one up front, Rickie in other words, he will struggle to get to 10 goals i think. Better centre halves will mark him out of the game and he wont be able to come deep cos we will then have nobody up front. So he will be isolated, tightly marked and just not as effective as the last few years. I hope I'm wrong but this new formation doesnt sit well with me I'm afraid.

Sorry Mr Pedantic.

I was referring to the Chaplow injury last season and the Cork one tonight, not the scoreline

Its not a good place for us......who picked Bristol City as a pre season warm up game ?
-
He has been told he can leave, not in Adkin's plans anymore.
-
Any idea how much we paid for him ?
-
Yeah, dont you only tend to train with another team when you are out of contract ? I mean he is for sale, its not a trial with another club is it ?
-
ok.

where did you hear this ?

Jason Puncheon "does not cut the mustard" for me

I'm not a fan and I have no problem if he leaves before 31 Aug or if he stays as long as he puts in a decent shift if picked to play. Oh and twitter - i think he has dis-continued his account.....or he has blocked me and I've done or said nothing to him or about him !!! -
Thanks for the info, as you can see there are a lot of people so far up their own stats they cant be bothered to thankyou for your post.

If true, and i have no reason to doubt it, then Les Reid has earned his salary ten times over already by his actions last summer. We would never have gotten off to that start which ultimately played a major part in our success with a new man in charge. I sincerely hope Les Reid knows we would be hard pushed to find another manager with all the skills Adkins has.

Thats how i read it. He is saying the structure is set up to be in place for many many years and not just during his tenure.

There were an awful lot of young oriental girls and boys in Saints shirts coming away from St Marys after the Ajax game last week ! A brilliant marketing move, never mind the fact that he looks a hell of a player
-
Simply because people who are happy and have nothing to complain about tend to keep quiet, its human, well British anyway, nature. So the moaners get all the time and attention they want :-)
-
Possibly but he is one of the few players who does have Premiership experience in our squad and some people seem to hold great stock by that.

Not really over the top no. Someone saying his public reaction to the story shows he knows he will be surplus is over the top. Or you can say the same for NA's statement about the story on Saints Player. We may well be actively looking to stengthen wide positions, but until we do Chaplow will still be seen as able to do a job on the right of midfield. I refer, as someone else already has, to the Palace away game last season where he was outstanding. I still think that with seven subs NA will have Chaplow on the bench more often than not.
-
What a load of crap. You know for sure he will be surplus do you ? He can play central midfield and right midfield, he adds pace to the middle and is the only midfielder we had last season who regularly made runs into the penalty box. To say his reaction to a story that is obviously made up is because he knows he will be surplus is incredible.
