  1. First priority is sorting the dressing room problems reported in The Times the other week. That will probably mean selling Boufal and maybe others. The manager is important but he can only do so much if that tension lingers in the squad. Assuming we can do that then I think Hughes is the sensible appointment. There might be better managers out there but any change will risk more negative energy at St Mary's. In terms of additions we need someone to lead the defence and a remodelled front line. After that it depends who goes.
  2. Absolutely right. It's always been about confidence and mental strength.
  3. I'd always want to play first and put pressure on others. Makes it that much harder if we know we have to beat Everton.
  4. No, but 2017, 16, 15 and 14 are not bad indicators.
  5. 'Hardcore fans' would be there and make a good atmosphere every week, wouldn't they?
  6. I like Liverpool and hope they win it, but it would be galling to see Lovren lift the Champions League. Just glad it's Salah and not Mane who's turned into God.
  7. Our referees are doing well in a very tough, thankless job. I don't think they're biased but you do see them cowed at the big grounds occasionally. I don't think that applied yesterday.

I wanted to stand but sat because the people behind me sat. I expect others were the same. That's the way it goes, not a huge problem.
  9. I agree, though Lemina gave one of the least committed performances I've seen all season. I'm guessing he wants Hojbjerg to be fresh for Bournemouth.
  10. Nothing says 'negative' like starting with two strikers! We never looked like winning that game but it could have been a lot worse. Lemina shouldn't play again this season.
  11. Better players, better football, more jobs at the club, more coverage and analysis (albeit still not much), beating the big teams and much better chances of getting to Europe or winning a cup.
  12. Good news. A proper noise is essential, particularly at Everton if results don't go our way earlier in the day.
  13. Players leave when they're good, not when they're foreign. The fact that the good ones are often foreign should tell you something.
  14. Pied? Jesus.
  15. He didn't say that we would do it. He said, rightly, that it's not a 'great escape'. It does make sense. Whether it's likely is another question.
  16. If she couldn't wait to sell, why did she wait for seven years?
  17. I'm not sure what that means. Our fixtures have been moved because we're in the FA Cup semifinal.
  18. Don't worry, they're not.
  19. I wouldn't be certain of keeping Hughes, to be honest. He might see himself as the next 'fireman' to step in when PL sackings start.
  20. Good points which aren't made often enough. Fans demanding we select a team of PASSIONATE BLOKES WHO GIVE THEIR ALL shouldn't be picking Austin, really. We'll pick him because he's still the best choice we've got.
  21. Every summer is hugely important.
  22. It's genuinely amazing how quiet the Emirates is.
  23. 4-5-1 is absolutely essential. Hughes should have learnt from Wigan but West Ham must have driven home that we can't give up the midfield.
  24. It's impossible to predict when we don't know who our manager or players would be.
