  1. The Southampton way
  2. Probably just a coincidence that the "best" managers being mentioned also have the best players at the club. Mopo had a chance to prove he was great without the benefit of great players and failed miserably at Espanyol. Also feel he underperformed with us given the squad we had that season. He walked into an outrageously good squad at Spurs and there recruitment has been largely great. If he genuinely can't win trophies with that Spurs team.......
  3. Don't think anyone could have predicted our decline. #toldyouso #headinsand #complacency
  4. What is success at Leicester? Finishing above us? Would be a miracle if the 2015-16 league winners and last years champions league quarter finalists (+spent 160m last 2 summers) did manage to finish above the Mighty Saints.
  5. The difference with mopo is he left at the start. He was one of the first big losses under Reed era. Since then weve lost so many and we have become very bitter as fans. Look at the abuse the 1st 2-3 to leave (Mopo, Shaw, Lambert) got vs the more recent departures. #timing #triggered #textbook
  6. Agreed. I think some underestimate the damage Puel caused. Unfortunately you dont just reset players brains and feet once a new manager comes in. They are now drilled and conditioned to go backwards and be cautious..... Could take months for some to recover. Its no coincidence that Lemina has looked our best player thus far... Seen a few mention a "hangover" from last season... Sums it up for me.
  7. Manager (Puel and Pellegrino) Reed, Wilson, Watson, Black & Players.... all have contributed to our decline past 18 months The momentum from the Cortese era saw us through a couple of seasons but once that eased off we have struggled to find any identity or direction. Just seem to have fallen into the mid table and average gang with Stoke, WHU and WBA.
  8. So people are not allowed to review or comment on Pellegrino after 11 games but you've done the full review on Puel n Leicester after 60 minutes......
  9. Walcott
  10. The "Southampton way" perhaps old Les was interfering more than we'd like to imagine. Saying that ill judge them after 10-15 games once Puel really puts his stamp on things
  11. Absolutely not. However did notice MLT was at the game, seen him chewing the fat with Big Ralph
  12. Brighton squad has cost circa 30m, our squad nearly 200m
  13. Team just lacks some pace, passion, skill, vision, strength and confidence. Apart from that wasnt too bad
  14. Really bad examples. Stephens played when we had nobody else. Has vanished since VVD returned. Mcqueen has been invisible since April Sims had a great debut.... Puel gave him a combined 90 minutes over the remaining season. A better example is Romeu. He played very well but only once he was given a run of games.
  15. Im as optimistic as the next man but after Burnley 7 of our next 10 games are against last seasons top 7. Bearing in mind we have not won in the league against any of the top 6 for 550 days im thinking we probably should have made more of our easier start?
  16. Jay just scored for WBA
  17. United lead. Deserved Harry Kane team....
  18. United have been the better side but another over hyped game ending up a bit dull. Spurs look a bit toothless without Kane If mopo can't win trophies with this spurs squad he doesn't deserve a step up
  19. When you see that and then realise he was given the equivalent of just 11 games last season.... Criminally underused - hes been given the full 90 just 3x since joining us. In the same period Redmond has been given the full 90 in 36 games.... Shocking

  24. Reed didn't give Puel enough to win the league or finish top 4 or even 6, but he had enough to play more attractive football, get more points, score more and do better than he did in Europe. I also think that while reaching the EFL final was great - he had 15 days to prepare (vs Man U 3 days) and still failed. Puel wasn't a complete failure - there was just more bad than good IMHO + Cup Final* + 8th Place finish + Youth players used - Points total - Europe - Style of play - Relationship with players and fans - Goals scored - Home form - Results against the top 6 * Had 15 days to prepare - still lost
  25. Not seen that myself and still have a soft spot for the club. What they did was remarkable and rather than looking on with jealousy we should use them as an example and raise our own glass ceiling. Puel is a lucky boy getting another shot at the prem - for me he blew his chance and all roads led back to a middling club in France or retirement. Forget his time at SFC for one minute - before that he went 16 years without winning a single trophy. That was despite managing some of the bigger French clubs. For example - Puel took over Lyon after they had just won SEVEN consecutive league titles. He then wins nothing! Clubs typically improve AFTER Puel has left - coincidence or bad luck?
