The jury is well and truly out on this one for me it depends on two things: 1. What % of his wages Bournemouth are picking up 2. How many games he plays
-
Such a waste I would have loved to be blessed with half his ability!
-
The biggest disappointment for me is the manager and his fixation with a diamond formation that doesn't suit our squad at all! If we were still playing 4-2-3-1 I think we would be seeing much better results than we have so far as the personnel at the club suit it and everyone knows how to play it. I'm amazed we appointed a manager who doesn't play the saints way which we still seem to be doing at all other levels. The quality of our signings looks good there is massive potential and the prices seem Very good in a crazy market really hoped we would replace pelle with a physical forward as I think every side needs one and now we don't have one! Mid table finish and not progressing from the group in Europe is my prediction.

Disappointing, not enough goals added.

ADAM LALLANA: "I didn't want to be Southampton captain"
a1ex2001 replied to rickylambert's topic in The Saints
Didn't think it was a bad comment from him, he was very young and still pretty raw when he became captain and the idea he had to chat with the chairman after every game is just plain bizarre! All he says in that article is he didn't really want the pressure and responsibility he wanted to focus on his own performances. Still some will read everything he says in a negative light, still think the way he acted when leaving us sucked but really don't get the level of hatred people seem to harbour! -
Someone needs to tell the manager we play 433/4231 not a diamond and we don't have the squad for a diamond oh and sign him a strong tough centre forward who knows where the goal is!
-
I suspect we have realised he is a crock and will never get back to his previous level and this is just a good way of getting his wages off the bill and I suspect a hefty loan fee in for him. Still if he goes we better be getting another forward in sharpish! I will never understand why we have appointed a manager who doesn't want to play the formation our entire squad is setup for!
-
You seem to have missed two things firstly we have invested a large sum in new long term contracts for 5 players with more possibly in the pipeline this will have consumed a vast dum of money, second the transfer window is still open and the word on the street from throes itk posters is that we ares still actively pursuing deals. However don't let simple facts or the truth get in the way of a meltdown/ rant!

Consistent national policy well funded with a clear goal and consistent leadership oh and when the going gets tough two years before the next Olympics you can't dip into the transfer market and bring in a few dozen cheap foreigners! Footballs national strategy is too messed up and the governing body has little to no control over what happens to young players, too many prospects spend the vital years of there mid-late teens rotting unnoticed and un challenged at big clubs. They earn too much money to young without really achieving anything the whole system just isn't geared to deliver in the right way.
-
It's pretty obvious he's going so lets just get on with it, the speculation and the merry go round is annoying me!
-
You must have slept through Allan Bennett's debut then, now that was a real shocker!
-
better than a travel lodge! All just goes to show the only thing constant in football is the club everything else comes and goes and ebbs and flows!
-
What less risky strategy do you suggest the club pursue?
-
Well we haven't before, what we have done is gentleman agreements ie Morgan and wanyama by the sounds of it this is something similar but we will have to wait and see! It's a crazy world football I would have put money on Fonte staying at the end of last season by I didn't expect him to star for Portugal while they won the euros and I never though man Utd would be sniffing round 32 year old defenders with 10 million quid in hand! Really goes to show you can't predict anything in footy these days!
-
Now that depends on the detail of the agreement ie was there a fee in there that would trigger it if not the club are at liberty to negotiate the best possible price, but honestly who knows I guess tomorrow will let us know if this is a storm in a teacup or goodbye to the last member of the league one team, club captain and legend. Please let it not be Everton and let it be a shed load more than 9mil!
-
Does have that feeling doesn't! I really hope that this time it isn't the same old same old it would be nice to have Jose come out and rubbish it but that doesn't seem to be the way things work these days! He's been a great servant of the club and if he goes I sure hope it is to United or abroad loosing him to Everton would be a bit of a kick in the teeth! Hoping we asked for plenty more than 9 mil if there are s few clubs sniffing around!
-
Someone needs to tell the boss we play 4-2-3-1 as a club and to get with the program as that is what the squad suits I thought it would have been made clear in the interview it makes no sense to me employing a manager who wants to play a different way to the whole club is setup!
-
Very expensive squad player and fast depreciating asset I suspect they want to cut the loses while he is fit and will still command some sort of transfer fee, was amazed they signed him last year it looked like bad business and so it has proved to be!
-
Don't forget to arrive before everyone has even set up otherwise all the decent stuff will already have been hoovered up by the eBay traders!
-
Not one I can really see going anywhere!
-
It is all about the money, that's football these days we can't have 92 professional clubs without it being all about the money. In this case it was also about the future of the competition without a title sponsor I think it was probably a season away from collapse the clubs just didn't want it this is a chance to try something different and see if it works a chance to redistribute some of the wealth of the premier league and give young players proper competitive game time. The overall key being it is a one year trial that the vast majority of lower league clubs voted for if it doesn't work they can try something different. Football can't stay the same forever, nothing can everything changes and evolves otherwise there would be no premier league, no champions league etc etc etc now you can argue all you like about whether these are good changes but you can't close Pandora's box!

That was a great summer the thread ran and ran and ran and then the signing on the pitch with the mystical number 7 shirt really was the crowning glory! He was never going to ive up to the hype but for me was a very good player who also put in a shift when needed ie spending a season at left back! Also the same year Tim Sparv left the club!
-
Hillsborough was nothing to do with people standing it was a fookin great fence what killed em!
-
if he has one and it is 45m then no problem if it is 15m then problem, given the clubs record what do we think is likely? I would suggest there is no release cause but we may have an agreement with him that if in a couple of years a champs leage club comes in with a big money offer he can go.
-
I think it is undeniable that somewhere in side is a fantastic talent it's just a case of whether or not he really wants to get back to his best and if he can find an environment that allows him to. Personally I don't think he would fit in here at all personality wise which is a shame as if he could be coaxed back to his best he is the type of player every team in the league wants!
