  1. VAR is ruining our game  imagine this place if that goal stood....
  2. This thread is a bit like when you argue with your missus, and then hours later once it’s all died down and you’ve made up you think of something you should have said that’s too good to waste, so you say it anyway and it all kicks off.
  3. *striker
  4. New manager bounce for Arteta over already then? They look awful! Although Leeds do look pretty decent tbf, they’re another decent strike away from being a very good side.
  5. Wasn’t paying too much attention during the draw waiting for us to come out but that really is a **** draw all round. No top 8 teams playing each other to make the potential route through the rounds easier, nothing to really get excited about for TV either. If I had to pick the televised games I’d probably say us, Bournemouth, West Ham and maybe Liverpool.
  6. Stupid predictive texting- would have FELT WEIRD wanting Liverpool to win it should say
  7. Was hoping the skates were going to draw Liverpool away and get a pasting - would have felt nice dad wanting Liverpool to win though. We beat Spurs in the cup on our way to the final in 03 - having beating them 1-0 on New Years Day in anyone likes their coincidences
  8. Crap performance but job done - make that many changes to a squad and of course it’s going to be disjointed. Had no idea VAR was being used for the competition until the check came up on the big screen. The fact that it’s only being used at Premier League grounds is a farce, yes we have the facilities but it has the potential to cause a massive unfair advantage in favour of the football league sides.
  9. Really? Joint 7th worse defensive record out of 20 teams. My despair around this rumour was based upon the fact that it all feels very Groundhog Day, gamble on an unproven defender and then act surprised that we’re in a relegation battle. I think we need a backbone of higher level, late twenty-something year old players, that mean we can consolidate our league position whilst developing the younger talent around them. Danso is meant to have all the attributes this guy has and he can’t even get a place on the bench.
  10. I know it’s likely BS due to the work permit issue - but if we’re seriously looking at a player from Real Valladolid that has made just 18 first team appearances to solve our defensive woes I’ll probably cry.
  11. Delle Ali is already the next Ronaldo, in that he too is a whiney little *****.
  12. Fair play to him - he was quality today, and that pass for Ings was the cherry on the cake. Maybe not having a monumental bellend like his mate Austin around has allowed him to focus on his football and general positive behaviour. Would love us to sign an experienced headed CB that can help him mature, and develop into a better defender - the same way Claus benefitted alongside Deano and then Killer.
  13. Had a soft spot for Bournemouth once but no longer, their fans are utter helmets and I hope they drop. Wish they were our next game so that we could do a proper job on them after their cup final result at St Mary’s a few months ago.

Fickle? Behave sweety, I’m fed up of the amount of average signings we’ve made that have contributed to the precarious position we find ourselves in. Hoedt, Lemina, Carillo, Vest, PEH, the list goes on, and thus far Adams is set to join them. Don’t get me wrong, I am absolutely dying for him to come good, and every time he steps onto that pitch I hope that that will be the day that it happens. I get that he’s young, and the Prem is a big step, but when you’ve seen the likes of Gabbi or Pelle make an instant impact at this level it’s hard to swallow too many excuses. That doesn’t make me fickle, it means I’ve watched enough Saints games to have an early idea of whether Adams looks like being the next J-Rod or conversely the next Juanmi.

Several seasons If anyone’s posting some **** it’s you - this is the Premier League, you don’t get several seasons to prove yourself, it’s normally pretty clear early on whether or not a striker is going to cut it. When you’ve got players like Rooney setting the world alight in a couple of games at 18 years old you can’t afford to wait for a 23 year old from the Championship to come good, especially when League survival is at stake.

    Che Adams

********, him only being 23 is no excuse - most players are well on their way to being established by that age and many are full internationals. It’s fair given some of the dross we’ve seen to expect a striker to have at least scored one or two goals by now, or at least look capable of creating something. Hopefully better than he did against Pompey.
  17. To be fair guys his crossing has always been ****.
  18. Thought a point was a fair result in the end against a very compact, niggly Palace side that played like a West Ham side. JWP was relishing playing the villain and I think that showed in his performance, just want him to play with that intensity every game!! Wasn’t too impressed with Boufal, I rarely am when he starts, it seemed like he slowed down every counter attack once he got the ball trying to do a flair move, or look for a Hollywood pass, thinks that showed once he and Adams had come off and we looked so much more dangerous on the break. Tough 5 games now, would be happy with 5 points I think, anything more would be fantastic.

Keep hoping he’s going to have a J-Rod like transformation but I’m yet to see anything that suggests he’s not just completely out of his depth. We can’t gamble too much longer, hopefully a striker is on the radar for January as we’re screwed if anything happens to Ings.
  20. You not think so Glasgow? I don’t see how they can afford to risk relegation with a small ground, and massive wage bill. They’re paying Jermaine Defoe £100k a week and he’s out on loan!
  21. They’ve got a pretty forgiving set of fixtures coming up which will make or break them. Regardless of how loyal they are to Howe if that cash cow of premier league survival I’m sure they’ll press the panic button. Enter good ol’Arry to save them
  22. An MBE for Franny, well deserved... https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/18125951.francis-benali-made-mbe-netting-huge-amount-cancer-research-uk/
  23. Amazing result for us - maybe, just maybe it’s time to look up the table rather than behind us. Couple of points of interest on Twitter, 150 people who had tickets never turned up, shame those seats went to waste and secondly Egil Ostenstad was in the away end with his family, great to know he’s still watching us.
  24. Just watched the highlights - great second by Danny boy. Absolutely hate Hojbjerg, should have been straight in the face of grealish - such a weak link in the middle of the park, god knows how he is our captain
  25. That video on the official site sure does bring back some great memories - do feel there’s a few big omissions though. The Schneiderlin goal at home to Newcastle which capped off a 20 something pass move probably pips the goal at Bristol Rovers, and there was also that Connolly goal after 30 odd passes against Middlesbrough which people would still talk about now if it was United or Barca that scored it. In terms of what it meant at the time Barnard to complete the comeback against MK Dons was massive goal, things could have been very different but for that comeback.
