Pitch Invasion - Stoke City

Never seen any other clubs invade the pitch for a lower mid table finish. Given the clubs obvious ambition, I'd be slightly embarrassed if fans start running on at the end of the game. Why not save it for a proper achievement as we have done in previous seasons?

Agree with the majority - No pitch invasion please.

Let the players and their family's walk around the pitch on a well deserved lap of honour and take in the well earned applause.

for a fair few in the squad it could be the last time we see them.

They deserve one last moment after their efforts of the last few seasons.

It's absolutely a proper achievment, but pitch invasions should be saved for massive outpourings of happiness and even relief, looking at Sheffield United 08, Walsall 11 or Coventry 12.

It's an achievement yes, but only an achievement in line with our expectations. Unlike some on this forum, I'm pleased with how the team has progressed this year, but equally we've played to a similar standard to the majority of other teams in the Premiership and I don't see them throwing pitch partys to celebrate relative mediocrity. A pitch invasion this year would just undermine celebrations for any future success.

Definitely this. I seem to remember last time they did a lap of honour people were allowed to stand on the edge of the pitch but then some twonks thought it would be funny to run on.

So on the basis most fans expected to get promoted from League One in 2011, we shouldn't have had a pitch invasion then? Doesn't make sense. Idon't care if there is one or not and I'm not expecting one, but some of the reasoning on here is quite funny.

I was referring to our expectations for the 2013/14 season which were to survive... If you had read it properly then you probably wouldve realised that. I can try and make it more explicit in the future if that would be easier for you?

If our expectations for the 2013/14 season were "just to survive" what are they now? I think our expectations for the 2013/14 season are a lot more than just surviving. As they were for this season 2012/13. Hope it's not getting too confusing for you.

Sorry typo - I meant 2012/13. Within the club perhaps they wanted more than just survival, but if there was a poll on here back in August asking would you take 17th I'm sure the majority would've said yes. Had we far exceeded those expectations this year then fair enough, but whether we finish 10th or 17th I think most would agree that we've performed well in Premiership without truly excelling.

Is it going to be the worst of all worlds? 500 or so people invade the pitch. 500 more pause on the sidelines in a "should we or not?" pose. And 30,000 look embarrassed by the whole thing!

Couple of hundred try and a few get bitten by dogs, other people who just want to clap and go home shout abuse at them for ruining the lap of the pitch. As opposed to the previous occasions with thousands streaming on near spontaneously in celebration and everyone else going "may as well then" for a while afterwards.

Norwich win 4-0 at home to ensure Premiership football next season but no pitch invasion.

We will have one on Sunday as the Mong fans amongst us think it is their God given right to do so.

Would be nice for once to give the players chance to have a lap around the pitch with their kids.

If this is what the players want, then I feel we should respect their wishes. Would be nice for them to do a walk of thanks and be given a good send off for the season just gone.

Totally agree.

But there will still be idiots who go on the pitch. The (hopefully) majority need to show serious disapproval.

This might not go down well...

Technically a pitch invasion is illegal. Should we really be having threads with people condoning illegal acts on this forum?

Aren't the vast majority saying don't do it?

A lot have said don't do it this year, but have condoned it for promotion years and last day survivals. I really don't see the point in them at all, it is illegal and you can still enjoy yourself after the full time whistle by staying in the stands and clapping a lap of honour from the players.

Ah without being impolite, there speaks someone who's life is based on facts and data as opposed to raw emotion.

Walsall & Coventry were magical moments built in pent up Joy/Relief/Disbelief/Shock.

A Pitch invasion this year would just be embarrassing but at least we will get to see the Dubai Saints Flag being carried by a lonely Eric

I give up with you, if you didn't enjoy the last 2 pitch invasions, you're as boring as you make out on here.

Standing on grass applauding a great season, standing in the stands applauding a great season. Is the former really any better? Or is it the thrill of doing something different (albeit illegal)?

If you were just standing there applauding on the pitch last year, I can see why you find them boring, I can see you're twisting this into making me sound like I want a pitch invasion on Sunday.

I sure had fun celebrating alongside the players in the promotion seasons and I think they enjoyed the moment too, especially the first time round. Getting out of league one was a massive moment of euphoria and relief for all involved after the decline in seasons gone by!

Lets officially launch smack a plastic Sunday, go on the pitch on Sunday and receive a slap from those that have supported for not only for this season but for championship and league 1 and championship and now preserving our status in the premiership.

If you know what's good for you take a seat otherwise meet my mate tango!!

Did you enjoy the last two year's pitch invasions?

There shouldn't be a pitch invasion this year; think of the kids, the OAPS, the disabled, women, middle-aged supporters etc. who will enjoy seeing their heroes do a lap of honour. The club doesn't want it, the players don't want it, therefore why do it?

Really pleased they did a lap of honour. One nutjob did a pitch invasion but got a thump when he ran back into the stands and was escorted out by the stewards.

Was a total di ck h**d! Him and his pikey mate had been told off by the stewards earlier on in the game and his mate tried to have a pop at one of the stewards trying to frag him out. Shameful!
