Kelvin will leave today

See, no matter how rich we become we are losing our best players with precious little time to get more.

So long mate and thanks

transfer window closes end of August and there is still time after that to get loans in.

If players are worthy of premiership or CCC then some of them will migrate in that direction.

Our recovery, if it happens, will only need to be an incremental growth.

All we need are good league 1 players - as long as we have decent league 1 level players - hopefully best in their position for the league - well organised and managed we will go up.

Depends how long this flippin 'minor issues' take to resolve themselves - the last lot of 'minor issues' weren't resolved in a 21 exclusivity period

I don't think "not having any money" is a minor issue. This time the money is there.

West Ham go back today and he is going up do the finalities of signing. No surprise there.

Not sure where this has come from. Wotte said on Saturday after the Eastleigh game that once the take-over went through he would be talking to KD, BWP and SJ about staying/new contracts.

I`m not saying that you are wrong, it`s just that Wotte said this about KD,BW-P and SJ, in his interview on Solent (heard it again this morning). It may be his use of English, but he also definitely said "when the take-over happens" not "if". Then again, I could just be straw clutching!

Won't hold it against Kelvin if he does officially leave today, but I still hope that he sticks around for a few more days to see if a Saints takeover is forthcoming. The guy has been first-class for us and we will definitely miss him. Should he go today, then I wish him all the very best at West Ham.

Totally agree - he was outstanding for us and I truely pray he can wait another couple of days. He's shown so much loyalty to our club after only being here a short time. My heart says he'll wait - my head says he'll go - please heart be right just once :-)

Shame. But you cant blame him with the continuing uncertainty. He proved to be a better keeper last season and showed some loyalty towards us by not legging it sooner. Will be missed.

Kelvin showed CONSIDERABLE loyalty and belief in Saints.

He will be much missed on the pitch. Quite a character imo to have proved his detractors wrong.

I hope Kelvin goes on to big things. He deserves it.

Idiot for going there. He really is. If he honestly thinks he'll get first team football there then he is in for a big shock.

He should have joined a Championship team. Idiot.

Depends what he wants.

At his age, this will be his last big contract. He'll be on Premiership wages and, although he probably knows he'll not be first choice, financial security is probably his priority.

While I agree that Davis is a good keeper, I wouldn't lose any sleep if he left. There are always plenty of good keepers available and most of them would be bigger and more commanding than Davis. That's not to mention Michael Poke who could be a decent keeper at L1 level. I'm not so confident about Bart or Forecast though.

Very sad indeed as all he's going to West Ham for is to play second fiddle. Even sadder is that we can't be near a takeover or something could have been done. Fry is playing blindman's bluff and unfortunately all us Saints fans are taken for idiots whilst he takes us for a ride. Sad to see you leave Kelvin, we obviously aren't anywhere near being able to say we can offer you a deal.:(

Yes, how stupid, he's probably doubled his wages.

To those that can't figure out why Kelvin is on the verge of joining West Ham, I suggest it has a lot to do with what's best for his family, financial security and getting one last big pay day before his career comes to an end.

Playing for West Ham means that he won't have to move house again, and baring in mind how settled he and his family are in the area, that will no doubt have been taken into consideration. As a result, his kids can continue at their current school too.

In an ideal world, Kelvin would stay at Saints and be our skipper next season, but he has a deadline set by West Ham too. If he hasn't signed on the dotted line by that deadline, then Zola may well start to look elsewhere at other alternatives.

the poor bloke has just spent a year at the end of a firing range surrounded by idiots.

He must be shell-shocked and have the Nam stare, so a few months sat on a bench, a Premiership wage and the occasional run out in a big game is a no brainer.

Ditto Surman - he couldn't say no.

It is when players go on strike/depart muttering about going to 'a big club' that they deserve abuse - imo.

Good luck to him.

Firstly, Kelvin Davis was absolutely committed to this club and it was well known he wanted to stay. Not sure how that makes him an idiot.

Secondly, a players career is short and he needs to make adequate provision for himself and his family, the same as the rest of us and the security of a contract I suspect was in the forefront of his mind than his selfish need to play every game as 1st choice. Not sure how that makes him an idiot

Thirdly, he can only join a team who come in for him so I think we can assume he wasn't offered a No 1 choice at a Championship club so not sure how that makes him an idiot.

Finally, if the Swiss had not taken a guarded approach to let the Pinnacle Circus and legend mascot into the driving seat for a media joy ride and ridiculous and unnecessary delays I have no doubt Saints would have been in a position to secure Kelvin's services to the end of his playing days but time has run out and clealrly Kelvin can't afford to wait any longer with NOTHING CERTAIN. So who is the idiot? Hopkins, Lynam, MLT, Fry, Crouch, McMenemy (did he come out in support of Pinnacle at the 11th hour?), Fialka or Kelvin Davis? I don't know the answer but it's definitely not Kelvin. Are you the idiot Hopkins?

At least this might give bialkowski or forecast a chance to prove themselves?

Always thought Bialkowski was a good keeper and now he might be given a chance to develop even more.

This is if the club dont buy another keeper...although i cannot think of anyone who might be better and want to drop divisions to come here?

Bialkowski for number 1 i say!

no brainer leaving us for a premiership side. If Green gets injured then in he comes, and while he waits for that chance he'll double his wages. I know he wants to stay in the area as he kids are settled but thats quite a tough old commute isn't it?

Az, allegedly some may say you were a bit previous with that aerosol spray.

Perhaps, but it's almost impressive how you managed to jump from 'Kelvin Davis leaving on a free transfer', to 'MLT should never be allowed to work at the club ever again' in just one post.

You are within your right to post that on the endless other threads discussing takeovers. However you don't need to turn EVERY thread into a slanging match between Mole, Alpine, yourself and anyone else daft enough to bite.

I need to review what I posted as I'm not sure it is how you quote me.

Bialkowski was a very good goalkeeper but after his injury has seemed a little nervous to say the least. Poke played well for Torquay last season and perhaps he should also be considered for a chance. He has played regular football and would have learn't a lot

If you honestly think he honestly thinks he'll get first team football at WHU then apologies but you are the idiot.

Kelvin knows well enough what he'll be going to at WHU. And anyway, Green is hardly a stranger to the treatment table is he?

For all we know his choices may well have been uproot everything to go to, say, Sheff United or Preston or Cardiff, or keep his current home and go to West Ham for Prem wages.

Whatever he does its his choice and none of our business really. Good luck to him.
