northyorksaint Posted 10 July, 2009 Share Posted 10 July, 2009 there are two of us in harrogate that up untill last season used to do 95% of home games, i had to decide on doing either home or away games last season as i copuldnt afford to do both anymore so only do aways now, my mate still has his season ticket and im sure he'd jump at the chance to have someone again who he could spit the cost and the driving with, if your serious about doing this i can put you in touch with him. marcsfc Posted 10 July, 2009 Share Posted 10 July, 2009 im in warrington and me and my dad try to get to as many as we can, but i work most saturdays, although this season im going to book a few more off to make the effort to get down more,i will go to the midweek games home or away so we usually have a couple of spare seats so i would be happy to share petrol cost with a few northern saints this season... SaintJackoInHurworth Posted 10 July, 2009 Share Posted 10 July, 2009 You might be interested to know that there is a fans group called 'Northern Saints'. There are a few members on here (including NorthYorkSaint if he is who I think he is!) The group used to have a website but that is no longer there. However, group discussions are made using Yahoo groups. It's a useful place to identify other Saints from the north who are attending matches, etc. Here's a link to the group: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Nsaints

yorkie Posted 11 July, 2009 Share Posted 11 July, 2009 The community of Saints fans live and well. I go down from York two or three times a season, but try to get to all the away games within a 100-mile radius (or more) depending on rich I'm feeling! The lads from Harrogate are a sound bunch - and that bloke Andy from Northern Saints is based in Manchester (I thought). We all tend to meet up and exchange stories over a beer - let's hope the bad days are behind us and we can celebrate a bit and talk about the win the week before unstead of yet another lost cause! saintwarwick Posted 11 July, 2009 Share Posted 11 July, 2009 Well I'm from Warwick and have given a lift to a few fans over the years, I'm not willing to go upwards before coming back down but if I see a saints fan thumbing it on the M40/A34 I will pick them up
IamLeGod Posted 12 July, 2009 Share Posted 12 July, 2009 I'm a student in leeds at the minute, so for obvious reasons its pretty hard to get to St Marys' but if any seats are going spare over the next season would love to be able to get down at least a couple of times, obviously more than willing to split fuel costs! ideally it would be more, but this New Labour's idea of Education, Education, Education for all and charging £20k for the privilege is a big obstacle to overcome!! Also, for some odd reason its rather tricky to find Saints fans up in Yorkshire? Funny how i never struggle to find Liversh!te or Manchester Red Sox fans in Landan? S4INT Posted 12 July, 2009 Share Posted 12 July, 2009 I'm going to be studying Medicine at Nottingham Uni (if results go well) but have been a season ticket holder at SMS for the past 4 seasons (ish). Our own Jumbo jets, don't be silly ... we can only afford Lear Jets and Gulfstream executive Jets If this thread gets just one or two people saving money by sharing their petrol money, then it has been a success. Not all Saints fans live within a few miles of the ground, in fact at most of the away games I've attended over the last few years I barely ever seem to have met anybody who actually travelled from Southampton. Well done to all those far flung fans for whom every home game is the equivelent of an away game ... I salute you all :smt039

Not seen this for 14 odd years if I'm honest. Markus.... you have no idea what youve done. Well, just for the record I got my first ST when living in Wales due to there no longer being a 5-year ST wait to get in at the new stadium. And IIRC, we had LOADS of people coming from all over the country and Ireland too when we were in the Prem as soon as they could actually get in, so I'd be more inclined to say "I haven't seen this for about 5 years" as we were just coming out of the Prem then, or given the Cup Final and subsequent league performance, 6 years. 14 years is just anti-Lowe cobblers with no basis in fact whatsoever. stkev7 Posted 18 July, 2009 Share Posted 18 July, 2009 Northern Saints has been a cracking little club, I've been a member for three seasons now and it has been superb. There is usually a good little group of us for all away matches and for some Northern away games we have great numbers. Unfortunately the bloke who runs it from Swindon is handing over the role to someone else but this is all up in the air at the moment. Shame but also understandable, he's been brilliant for us past and present Northern based Saints. We have members who are regular at away games from Harrogate, Leeds, Manchester, Stockport, Newcastle, Darlington, Nottingham, Bedford (ok, not up North but that is where I live now) plus adopted Northern Saints from all over the country. Back off.:tfrag: By neck of the woods, I meant in the general area. Parsons and Maggie were from Grantham, SIN I know was from just outside Grantham.
