SaintDonkey Posted 13 August, 2009 Share Posted 13 August, 2009 i thought we shouldve signed him Agreed, I thought Vignal was one of our better players that dreadful season. Mind you he didn't have much competition!
Arizona Posted 13 August, 2009 Share Posted 13 August, 2009 Good on him. Him and John were the best two players in the second half of the 07/08 season.
S-Clarke Posted 13 August, 2009 Share Posted 13 August, 2009 He wasn't that bad for us towards the end of the season tbh, one of our better players. I don't think he's quite premiership quality though....

oggiee Posted 13 August, 2009 Share Posted 13 August, 2009 He was fairly decent in his time with us, but he will probably get shown up in the prem, CCC is his level, wish him and birmingham all the best though, after the second round of the cup anyway. Clifford Nelson Posted 13 August, 2009 Share Posted 13 August, 2009 you dont go to barcelona and liverpool and not have some skill Flatters to deceive. Gets himself signed and can't match his promise with repeated performances. He's no boy anymore and should have found his level for playing regularly rather than chasing for a club every summer. skintsaint Posted 13 August, 2009 Share Posted 13 August, 2009 you dont go to barcelona and liverpool and not have some skill maybe he is lacking in attitude or something. Didnt someone make him cry at Liverpool in front of all his teammates?

Arizona Posted 13 August, 2009 Share Posted 13 August, 2009 maybe he is lacking in attitude or something. Didnt someone make him cry at Liverpool in front of all his teammates? I think it was in some Liverpool player's autobiography a while back. IIRC it was Robbie Fowler giving him grief for something. When you're a French teenager who's just moved to England, that's the last thing you need. Anyway, this is the guy who played on with a broken arm and finished the season wearing a cast during matches.
Red And White Barmy Army Posted 13 August, 2009 Share Posted 13 August, 2009 Sometimes managers just look at a video of a player or get a report on his attributes and say yes please. I think skacel for us is a good example of inconsistency - played well under Burley for Hearts, but not for long enough for GB to realise he was inconsistent. Vignal was along those lines. He hasn't played for that many number of clubs for any other reason than inconsistency. He'll end up with a couple of man of the matches in the prem but probs also score about 8 OGs! St Chalet Posted 13 August, 2009 Share Posted 13 August, 2009 I thought he did allright for us. As others have noted he showed a bit of 'ticker' playing through a broken arm.
John Boy Saint Posted 13 August, 2009 Share Posted 13 August, 2009 Just don't let him take a free kick from the right a few yards into our half in the direction of the Northam.
Saint_Mabes Posted 13 August, 2009 Share Posted 13 August, 2009 I'm suprised to disagree with most - I always wanted to like him but thought he was pretty awful. Don't think he'll be a great signing for them.

CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 14 August, 2009 Share Posted 14 August, 2009 One of those players that exist on the borderline between ordinary and better than average . Good luck to him .
Doctoroncall Posted 14 August, 2009 Share Posted 14 August, 2009 (edited) I'm surprised no one has suggest he's going to score against us, being an ex-player! Thought he was good for us, not sure what he can offer a premier team now apart from being a squad player if I'm honest. Mabes Posted 14 August, 2009 Share Posted 14 August, 2009 His Daughter went to nursery with mine in Whiteley when he was at Pompey, nice bloke, think he strikes a nice all and think he is confidence player and playing for manager who wants him like Mcleish will do him well,

John B Posted 16 August, 2009 Share Posted 16 August, 2009 Antonio Valencia hasn't seen that much of the ball on the right recently but he seems to have the beating of Birmingham full-back Gregory Vignal down that flank. Credit to the French defender, he sticks to his task and eventually stops the Ecuadorian winger even if it is at the third attempt. eurosaint Posted 16 August, 2009 Share Posted 16 August, 2009 I don't think that he was necessarily the problem ? Didn't Burley prefer Jermaine Wright playing out of position at LB instead of him ???
