Papa Waigo - crowd pleaser!

Just been watching his piece on Saints Player. Looks like he has some skill.

Reminds me of a story on the radio earlier. I'll say allegedly - as I'm only repeating what was reported ... allegedly he was in West Quay on Saturday, either before after 2:50pm when he was on the pitch, and was recognized by a lad with his Mum. Lad said "look Mum, that's our new player" to which Papa apparently smiled, got talking with the lad then took him to the Saints shop then for lunch, then bought him some new football boots. The lad is starstruck.

If this is true, we could have a real crowd pleaser. If he's as effective on the pitch and he seems to be off it, the only way is up.

I remember watching the video of Tin Man Delgado when we had signed him and thinking that we had somebody as good as any Brazilian on the evidence of it. But then again, looking at the videos of McGoldrick and B-WP at the time we were selling them, their future clubs could be excused in thinking that they were brilliant players, not realising that for every goal they scored, they'd missed 6 other chances.

On the other hand, it is at least indicative that if he was deemed good enough to play for Fiorentino, Weigo ought to be able to cut it down in our third division.

The hye surrounding this player which seems to be deliberately emenating from SFC is unbelievable. You'd think he represented The Second Coming. Apparently, he will cause CHAOS!

Maybe because we had to work pretty hard to get him, and put up alot of $$$$$$$ - i don't think he'll come cheap after playing top level serie A football.

I must admit i'm nervous about the hype of someone we've not seen yet...but i'm slightly more at ease after the comments from Italian based fans/Senegalese fans.

I think the club are setting themselves for for a fall tbh; if their level of hype were to be believed, this guy is going to singlehandedly fire us into the play-offs etc. The level of pressure being placed on his shoulders cannot be good for anyone.

Trouble is if he is as good as people are hoping, will a club in a higher league except Chelsea :) try to grab him from us at a transfer window?

Football player in 'giving something back' shocker. Jesus, even though I know most of you are joking it is a sad indictment of the way the world is today that we think if a grown adult does something remotely kind to a random kid he has to have some ulterior motive. I'd like to think if I was in a similar position, I'd do something similar like buy a kid a pair of football boots. Waigo is probably already a legend in this kids eyes without even seeing him play, the world needs more people like that.

Thank you, Sambosa, I agree completely. As the original poster, I am reading the comments that followed with a furrowed brow. As you say, the player 'reached out' (and not in a perverted way, before you lot bite on that) to a young Saints fan and made his day. That kid will idolize Papa now. We read all the time about players earning 100 grand a week and having no connection with the fans, and this guy comes in from abroad and makes this kind gesture. Let's have more of that kind of thing, I say.

Everytime one of our sigings is surrounded by hype they turn out to be a disapointment you only have to look at Rudi, Anders Svensson and Delgado for more evidence. Hope this guy proves us wrong but I won't be clicking buy on my Shirt with number 9 and Waigo on it just yet.
