Tractor_Saint Posted 13 October, 2009 Share Posted 13 October, 2009 Just a quick question. Unfortunately (?!) the girlfriend and I will be on a Caribbean Cruise for the MK Dons match. We were considering lending our STs to her parents but her mum can't come. So, wondering whether he can take one of his friends (who's male). Do they just check you've got a ST or check the names as well ? TIA
Give it to Ron Posted 13 October, 2009 Share Posted 13 October, 2009 Officially no but there is no way they have time to stop you and go into that detail - to be honest why bother? Surely its far better that the seat is used plus the club still get additional revenue from drink, food etc from the persom attending as the seat has been paid for. TIA They only sometimes check the front bit of the ST don't they, I don't know whether they check just the stand or the age of the holder cos they don't spend much time looking at it. I think you can 'upgrade' your ticket so it all becomes valid for other people but I don't know how this works.
RonManager Posted 13 October, 2009 Share Posted 13 October, 2009 I've never had mine checked, they just find the relevant voucher and rip it off. Having said that, it's always the same people on the gate so we are 'nodding' acquaintances.

Redbul Posted 13 October, 2009 Share Posted 13 October, 2009 The seat has been paid for so it might as well have a bum on it. It would be wrong trying to get an adult in on a kids ticket or other concession 'cos then the club would technically be losing out. But as Give It To Ron says technically it's probably not allowed....

red&white4life Posted 13 October, 2009 Share Posted 13 October, 2009 When they check the front I believe they are checking it is an adult and not a junior ticket. Also the agreement you signed states that only you will use it. Bottom line is that you will be 99% ok, even if it's questioned just tell them the truth and you will be fine. SaintBobby Posted 13 October, 2009 Share Posted 13 October, 2009 Agree with above advice. I have STs with my mum and my Mrs. Usually the Mrs. dispenses them randomly, so two times out of three I'm walking in with an adult ticket of the wrong gender. No eyebrows raised. You'll be fine. And I agree with the bums on seats thing. Have been ****ed off to see season tickets lent to Man Utd fans at sell outs, but given there will be c. 12,000 empty seats and you've paid for two of them, let your friends have them. Tractor_Saint Posted 13 October, 2009 Author Share Posted 13 October, 2009 I have 2 both in my name Ahhh, I used to be schizophrenic too but we're alright now Thanks everyone for the replies. Will let her dad know that they should risk it and then just be honest if challenged. They're OAPs so hopefully going in on two adult STs will be OK ! La BoIS Saint Posted 13 October, 2009 Share Posted 13 October, 2009 Will be no problem at all. I have ticket in Northam but went in Chapel for the Rovers game so I would be nearer the buses for the station afterwards. That plan didn't actually work as the muppet driver crashed into a bollard then took a bizarre route to the station.
Weston Saint Posted 13 October, 2009 Share Posted 13 October, 2009 Before last season I paid for and used Mrs "Frank's Cousins" season ticket as she did not want to lose her seat should her circumstances change. On one occasion it was reported there was to be a season ticket check so I rang the ticket office. They said it was not a problem. They were aware owners of season tickets could not attend every game and sometimes passed their ticket to family and friends. With the stipulation that the season ticket holder was responsible for the actions of those they loaned it to, they did not have a problem. No problem at the turnstiles either. Even joked with "Frank" in front of them over who was wearing the skirt that day! Will be fine.
niceandfriendly Posted 13 October, 2009 Share Posted 13 October, 2009 Yep it won't be a problem, especially if your parents detatch the ticket stub before getting to the gate. The stewards take the stub and never even think about checking whether or not the correct person is trying to gain entry, or whether through the right gate. trousers Posted 13 October, 2009 Share Posted 13 October, 2009 I borrowed this lady's season ticket the other week and got in ok. No questions asked, just a quick frisk from the steward was enough.
dubai_phil Posted 13 October, 2009 Share Posted 13 October, 2009 When we moved to SMS I had a season ticket for all our PL years. I bought it in case (hahahaha) we'd still be in the PL when I moved back and I would be stuck and put onto a waiting list or to be unable to sit with my mates. I made about 3 or 4 games a year and used the "responsible friend" approach for the games I couldn't make. The ticket was used just about every week, never a problem. Trousers. Bit worried about your girlfriend

Ozkeith2 Posted 14 October, 2009 Share Posted 14 October, 2009 Just visited UK from Australia. My son is a Manure fan, & we were able to "buy" ST's for the Sunderland game. It seems people buy ST's as investments & rent them out thru' a semi-official agency. Sadly, this meant I missed the Gill's game. Though i did get to see the great man on Sky Sports & saw the Yeovil, Carlisle & Rovers games. Anyway, my point is that it seems that all clubs 'allow' the transfer of ST's. Tractor_Saint Posted 15 October, 2009 Author Share Posted 15 October, 2009 Thanks for all the replies - my girlfriend took the plunge this morning and decided to call the ticket office. The (surprising from my viewpoint) answer was: "The stewards would check the age category of the ticket and not pay any attention to the gender." so her dad as an OAP going on her ticket is legit. Her dad no longer needs to wear a dress

Her dad no longer needs to wear a dress And if there is an age problem, you can (or certainly could ..haven't tried recently) pay *in advance* to upgrade a kid's ticket to an adult for the one-off game. Sensible approach on the part of the club and no one defrauded. K.

Nexstar Posted 15 October, 2009 Share Posted 15 October, 2009 Tbh if it's only a one-off I wouldn't even worry about the age category, my parents used my season ticket several times last year when it was a junior and never had a problem.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 15 October, 2009 Share Posted 15 October, 2009 As most others have said, this should not be a problem. The ticket has been paid for and gifted to you, so no reason why you should not get in.
