Bourno Posted 27 December, 2009 Share Posted 27 December, 2009 I think we get the best out of both of them when they come off the bench.
S-Clarke Posted 27 December, 2009 Share Posted 27 December, 2009 Papa for me, a better all-round footballer. Antonio at the moment is more of an impact sub (i'd keep him for the season for that reason), but he's not quite ready to be a regular starter. John Boy Saint Posted 27 December, 2009 Share Posted 27 December, 2009 Papa without a doubt, Antonio is someone to bring off the bench as he has the pace to wear out already tired legs of the opposition, he also has a lot to learn about the game. I have to say that when Antonio confused his own feet in the second half was very funny.
L1Minus10 Posted 27 December, 2009 Share Posted 27 December, 2009 Papa is a forward, Antonio is a winger. It's that simple really.

I have to say that when Antonio confused his own feet in the second half was very funny. But Antonio hasn't scored anytime in the League. Papa does. And Papa is most devastating when they are tiring. So Antonio to start and confuse everybody!!
niceandfriendly Posted 27 December, 2009 Share Posted 27 December, 2009 Let's keep chopping and changing them. They're both decent players and we're doing alright at the moment. It's bloody nice to have options though isn't it?

NickG Posted 27 December, 2009 Share Posted 27 December, 2009 OS says 3 league and 4 cup goals in 8 league and 3 cup starts. Not sure if thats up to date
Saints foreva Posted 27 December, 2009 Share Posted 27 December, 2009 Antonio was quality when he came on for the MK Dons match, he changed the game. But the problem is - he just kicks the ball and beats them for pace. Teams have watched videos of us I guess and figured this out so it is becoming a bit of a problem now. CWD Posted 28 December, 2009 Share Posted 28 December, 2009 Papa is a better player for sure, altho do i think his best position is up front. Antonio has a bit more muscle and is better suited as a winger in this league. All in all a difficult one.... I'd say papa just shades it
Faz Posted 28 December, 2009 Share Posted 28 December, 2009 Surely the point is, its a squad - it's not one or the other, and we need both at different times, in different positions and in different circumstances.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 28 December, 2009 Share Posted 28 December, 2009 Stupid 'political' poll! If Antonio starts the next two and scores a couple he will be flavour of the month again!

PaulGilchrist_76 Posted 28 December, 2009 Share Posted 28 December, 2009 Why not both?
krissyboy31 Posted 28 December, 2009 Share Posted 28 December, 2009 Not sure it's totally an either/or question. Papa is more of a central striker (who can play wide) and Antonio is an out and out wide player. Papa is by far and away the better footballer but Antonio does offer something to the team in terms of pace, width and unpredictability.
saintmonkey1979 Posted 28 December, 2009 Share Posted 28 December, 2009 Papa to start, run rings round the full backs and wear them out while supplying RL and DC then bring Antonio on to put them under more pressure in the last 20 mins as tired defenders make mistakes and give away more free kicks. Definitely Papa to start though as Antonio tires quickly and runs out of ideas IMO.
St. Jason Posted 28 December, 2009 Share Posted 28 December, 2009 I've voted Papa, but only because I think Antonio is more effective coming of the bench!

Glasgow_Saint Posted 28 December, 2009 Share Posted 28 December, 2009 Waigo was bought in to score goals - his goal against Exeter was his 1st in the league since October - thats not a great return.
Spudders Posted 28 December, 2009 Share Posted 28 December, 2009 At the Exeter game the guy beside me was shoting Papa's name during the first half, "come on Papa" "Turn Papa" etc, etc. I didn't have the heart to tell him, but did laugh to myself during the second half when Papa came on as a sub

Spudders Posted 28 December, 2009 Share Posted 28 December, 2009 It reminds me of when my mate spent the best part of a game thinking Paul Smith was Niemi (mind you he'd had a few beers apparently!). At one point in the game he shouted the usual Niemi, Niemi, Niemi.... at which point everyone around him shouted who are ya, who are ya, who are ya! Classic. SNSUN Posted 28 December, 2009 Share Posted 28 December, 2009 Papa Waigo - has a touch of class, a finishing touch and scares defenders. He has cons, such as running offside too often, and can fade out of games when things aren't going his way. You CAN see why he was playing in Serie A though, to an extent. Antonio - for someone playing in non-league not so long ago, this isn't a fair comparison. Waigo is clearly the better player, but Antonio has his plus points too. He's fast, you can't deny him that, and though he is a one trick pony, he does have success with that particlar trick, though not all the time. On the times I've seen him play this season, I've not been too impressed, however against Exeter he was working hard for things to come off. His cross isn't bad, his throw ins are a threat. Waigo would be in my starting XI, Antonio on the bench, though I would try to keep Antonio for the second half of the season.
saint_stevo Posted 28 December, 2009 Share Posted 28 December, 2009 antonio is utter tripe. So waigo
