Give it to Ron Posted 8 January, 2010 Share Posted 8 January, 2010 I wonder if he could make use of a ball winning midfielder with a record of very few games so must be fit ;-).

Saint_clark Posted 8 January, 2010 Share Posted 8 January, 2010 Arjen Robben = Lee Holmes, Ryan Smith World Class and BWP can finish like Torres showed just how little he really knew about the game. The players he had managed in Holland must really have been sh*t if he thought those three were some of the best in the game.
Winchester_Saint Posted 8 January, 2010 Share Posted 8 January, 2010 An era which all of us want to forget but good luck to him nonetheless. Showed good professionalism during a terrible time for the club.

I'd be amazed if he even said them. It's all just spin and ******** put forward to try and raise morale amongst the fan base around season ticket renewal time. We're not going to have our marquee signing for the close season be a guy just released from a team who had just had one of the worst seasons in the history of the football league and put all that crap out in a press release. Arizona Posted 8 January, 2010 Share Posted 8 January, 2010 Will be taking his two asisstants with him...Coach Lowe and Coach JP. Only going by what I read on here at the time, but according to a lot of reports, WTF and Poortaloo didn't get on. It was kind of like the icing on a very undercooked cake. Appointing a couple of Dutch no-hopers to get us out of trouble is one thing, but we managed to find two who hated each other. Gotta laugh... oxfordshire_saint Posted 8 January, 2010 Author Share Posted 8 January, 2010 I think Wotte had a better understanding of the English game than Poortvliet, but I do agree with JP when he said that Wotte was here to backstab and planned in advance to take his job. I'm gonna see if any English bookies will take a bet on them being relegated.

The9 Posted 8 January, 2010 Share Posted 8 January, 2010 (edited) Never heard of Uni Craiova then? Pretty big club in Romania, good job for the moulded demiwaved one. Bloody sight bigger than Saints are at the moment domestically anyway, if hopefully not for long. They've played in the European Cup before, pretty sure they play in blue and white though. CB Fry Posted 8 January, 2010 Share Posted 8 January, 2010 Arjen Robben = Lee Holmes, Ryan Smith World Class and BWP can finish like Torres showed just how little he really knew about the game. The players he had managed in Holland must really have been sh*t if he thought those three were some of the best in the game. I think Jan said the Robben thing about Holmes, I don't remember the "world class Ryan Smith" line at all. And no-one ever said BWP can finish like Torres. Wotte quotes were all about him and BWP talking about Torres and learning from how he plays, with the general point being about being ice-cool composed in front of goal. The Echo worked it up into "BWP could be like Torres" story and a load of snidey pri cks on this forum got all wet in the trouser area about it. But if you look at what Wotte said at the time it made perfect sense. You want to get better, watch and learn from the best. But according to message board tw ats that was some terribly scandalous thing to say. PS - I'm not defending Wotte, he was bloody awful for us. St Marco Posted 8 January, 2010 Share Posted 8 January, 2010 They had 15k people watch their game against Steaua last month. And their last home game before that they had an almighty.....1000 people. Don't sound very big to me.

greg_hill Posted 9 January, 2010 Share Posted 9 January, 2010 Yep, he came here, did his best, stayed with us in difficult times and has now moved on to a new challenge. Let's really rip in to him.
LostBoys Posted 9 January, 2010 Share Posted 9 January, 2010 You have to compare the ludicrous appointment of JP to that of Billy Davis at Notts Forest - a possibility that was widely derided on this forum at the time. I see Notts Forest are second in the Chumpionship with a very young side including some SFC rejects. I also think Wotte is a good coach but handed the poisoned chalice afterthe JP debacle. St Marco Posted 9 January, 2010 Share Posted 9 January, 2010 Yeah but the problem with Wotte is if you check his record he has actually got around 75% of his clubs relegated. So while i can understand some people think he had a bad deal with the way the club was etc i just think he did a crap job. He had well over half a season in charge and left us more points away from safety then Jan did. If we were expecting someone to do **** then we might as well have left Jan in charge too. Or better yet, give someone connected to the club a chance. That is just my opinion of course. Some might feel totally different and think he did well, tried his best and so on. I don't. ottery st mary Posted 9 January, 2010 Share Posted 9 January, 2010 It still makes me laugh when supporters think JP was ever solely in charge of the first team.....He never even decided on the transfer in of Pulis....JP had never heard of him or seen him play (friendly cameo apart...no chance of him deciding on that performance) or even seen video footage of Pulis (there wasn't any)..JP was being run by Rupes and Wotte from day one.....JP was used and became the scapegoat for Ruperts folly. Wotte is not a good coach.
