Saint_clark Posted 24 January, 2010 Share Posted 24 January, 2010 Excuses? Just tell her that she needs to get her priorities right if she thinks you're gonna miss Saints V Pompey for a pointless bit of romanticism which could be done ANY other time. bridge too far Posted 24 January, 2010 Share Posted 24 January, 2010 There'll be carnage in my house We won't be able to go (and Mr TF has said he'll never ever step one foot into SMS anyway). Do you reckon it'll be televised? If so, there'll be a 'Berlin Wall' down the middle of our sitting room.

Saint Fan CaM Posted 24 January, 2010 Share Posted 24 January, 2010 I'm not sure my Wife realises it will be on Valentines day as she did say "can I go with you?" while I was busy bouncing around the living room with joy. "But of course you can" was my astounded reply. I think I fell in love again right there and then.

I'd usually feel a bit guilty, but I'm so excited about the game, I really don't!

She gave me the silent treatment, and wasn't too pleased when I then went on to tell her Valentines Day is a made up day. I'd usually feel a bit guilty, but I'm so excited about the game, I really don't! It IS a made up day. Made up purely to swell the coffers of card manufacturers, florists and chocolate makers. Tell her you don't need a made up day to demonstrate your love. Buy her flowers etc all year round - tell her you refuse to pander to the lemming-like behaviour of those willing to pay a fruitin' fortune to make up for their unloving ways the rest of the year. That should do the trick

mcjwills Posted 24 January, 2010 Share Posted 24 January, 2010 You lot seriously need to get a missus like mine, she said its only an Americanised card day anyway, I know the footies more important to you. This was after she won tickets to a top London Show last weekend for March 28th and soon as I said thats the Weekend of the JPT final, and she said I'll go with the daughter then. Thats why I love her so much, she understands me totally, doesn't book anything unless she has checked the fixture list first

Guan 2.0 Posted 24 January, 2010 Share Posted 24 January, 2010 I was Listening to the Draw with the GF, and when It was announced, I commented that I would most likely be travelling down south on the saturday for sunday, Forgetting what date it was. She then spent 5 minutes outlining the lengths she was willing to go to convince me to stay up here. It worked. Still heading down if it's on the Saturday though, don't get why the 13th would be a problem for anyone?

Although I have over the last 3 years, come to realise that although being away from Southampton means getting to less matches, being a (slightly) mature student amongst young girls away from home for the first time and willing to experiment has some advantages. There are a few Dads that hate me now.

Gigersaint Posted 25 January, 2010 Share Posted 25 January, 2010 Today I consider myself to be quite a lucky guy, my Mrs started coming to games when I got her the odd ticket or two. That became regular as she doesn't drink and knew I liked a beer or two on matchday and was happy to drive from time to time. From someone who hadn't ever seen a game of football a few years ago she is now a Season Ticket holder, loves the Saints, doesn't drink and always drives us, and is now looking forward to her first derby game against the skates, even if it's on Valentines Day! ericofarabia Posted 25 January, 2010 Share Posted 25 January, 2010 I reckon a nice movie, a live show and a romantic dinner is the only thing that should be on all of your minds on such an auspicious day. So it's sorted then .... A pre match viewing of old videos of previous wins against the skates and as a special treat to mark the day a nostalgic trip back to Valentines day 1994 Saints 4 Liverpool 2 in the snow, very romantic. A trip To St Mary's to watch the match and then to the pub for copious amounts of beer followed by a Ruby at any place daft enough to let you in She'll love for it
