The 'it's not the end of the world' thread

we need to win these games...the club has shelled out an utter fortune to win..pardew states the players are only here to win..he says we need to win..

we are not really winning....we have become pretty average by the sounds of it...

You don't get it do you? When will the penny drop? You can't buy results. Simples.

If you're someone who has decided that the aim of the season is to avoid relegation then it's not the end of the world.

But if you think we are buying centre backs for £1.5m in League One to get into the play offs this season, this is a very disappointing result and leaves us with a hell of a lot to do to achieve that aim. To get into the top six we need championship winning form, and that isn't drawing away at Brentford, regardless of their recent form. If we wanted to win the league that's what we'd need to do. And effectively, form-wise we need to win the league to get into the play offs now.

To be expected really, a defensive partnership getting used to each other and a new forward partnership, so considering this it is a good away point. Hopefully things will start to gel by next game and we'll still win the 15 we need.

says who...look at the top of the prem..then look at the bottom..

look at the top of the CCC then look at the bottom...

see a pattern..?

Where are Ipswich and how much did they spend? How much did Man City spend and what are the odds of them winning the Prem? You need to move on mate. It is players and teams that win things not bank balances.

we're still unbeaten in 2010 before anyone grabs the razor blades, and i make it 2 decent points away at 2 tough grounds this season (millwall and brentford)

a decent home game next against stockport to get a win under our belts.

not really good enough though is it..? lets be honest..

we have spent money to bring in players that are too good for this league..and snipped other teams stars..

brentford and millwall rely on frees, loans and..well, the team they came up from league 2 with...we have a prem standard manager who has unlimited league 1 funds and facilities that belong in the premier league..

why are we bothering spending millions when teams who we cant beat spend nothing..?

we struggle to win in the league to any team around the playoffs....

not really that great is it..?

Didn't stop you squinneying like a bit ch when Georgie boy had fewer resources in his second season, though.

Funny in your world not having resources is a massive handicap and oh how can we ever compete but having loads of money makes no difference on the pitch at all.

if danny wilson can come in and spend nothing (and lose his star player) then why are we bothering with massive money...why not coach what we have and pick up frees..?

Quite. If we were skint SOG would be lecturing left right and centre about how impossible it is for us and how we could never dream of competing with teams with more resources.

But then he is always looking to have it both ways.

And here lies the problem of spending money.

We all scream for it to be spent and cheer when this happens, but lose one match then crikey..... "we should be doing better, we spent money ffs!"

We didn't even lose and we're getting the mongs on here insinuating that Pardew is doing a sh*t job.

We seem to be back to our early form in the League before the team gelled we had four new players in tonight

But not sure if all the new players are any better to the ones we already had

Disappointing result and (by the sound of the Solent commentary) a pretty shabby second half performance.

But I agree that it's not the end of the world. Leeds lost 3-0 at Swindon (having also been beaten in their last league game by Exeter). Charlton lost at home to Leyton Orient last night. Norwich only just scraped a win at Carlisle. But those three are probably going up - and 2 of them in the auto places. Funny old game etc.

I still think the play-offs are just achievable. Although the cups - much as I love them - are now getting in the way. I think there's a 75% chance we'll still be in League One next season. But in 2010-11, I really, honestly do beleive we'll walk this league!

I do worry about those who say we should be making the play-offs. Not because I don't admire their ambition, but because it seems the term "play-off" is getting conflated with "promotion". Even if we make the play-offs, we probably won't be promoted.

I'll settle for:

1. Winning the JPT in March

2. Beating the skates on Feb 13th

3. Finishing 8th or 9th this season

4. Winning League One with 100 points next year.

I also think that's what I'm going to get.

'twas hypothetical. But this problem will be with us whilst we have money now. Alps and delldays WILL be saying "we spent money ffs, not good enough" after EVERY negative result.

So you are trying to argue that our performances and form havent dropped, are you ?

All of you saying we should be happy with a draw are symptomatic of the low-grade zero-rated ambition that our club has been blighted with for the past decade.

hey..I dont expect us to win every week ffs..I even thought we would lose away to leeds and we probably will lose away to norwich...

but overall...the league form is nothing but average....imo and I dont think the owners signed up for average and certainly made their intent for anything BUT average....regardless of the cup competitions..the league is what it is all about for us over the next few years

imo of course

I have noticed that many who are saying we can be average this season as we will win the league next year....why..?

if we keep stuttering now, in mid season why would we be 30 points better next year..?

Who is insinuating that then?

Cortese and Pardew are trying to get into the play offs this season. I know people on here try and pretend they aren't, but they are.

But to achieve it we really need to win lots of games, and games like Brentford away is the type of game we need to win.

Can't anyone say "this is putting us off-track" without dopey old women ranting about "mongs insinuating Pardew is doing a sh*t job".

Get over it. We can moan about falling behind without demanding the manager be sacked. Get off your high horse.

Go on, tell us how long Alex Ferguson was given. Go on. Give us that lecture. We've never heard it before.

Rebuilding season;

mid-table, outside chance of play offs

last 16 of FA cup (with easy home draw to make it into quarter finals)

need to draw a home game against MK Dons to get to Wembley final

draw disappointing but lets not get carried away.

Brentford at home against top teams;

beat Norwich, Colchester,

drew with Leeds, Charlton, Millwall

lost to Swindon

Realistically the only play off place we're chasing is the 6th one currently occupied by Millwall 13 points ahead of us.The five teams above that are all on good form showing no signs of flagging.

I reckon a point away and three at home, ie 4 out of every 6 is good enough, hence joining this thread !

Don't think they ever expected it though

p1ssed off at not winning but not suffering from a personality disorder whereby thinking that drawing away (result not bettered by any of top teams) doesn't make me hate my club and its manager.

What is bull in that then?

Everything he posted there was a fact Alpine.

what exactly is bull**** about that post, alps?

exactly - all true but doesn't fit with some people's agends to knock the club all of the time for fun.
