Why so many negative posters?

I for one have enjoyed the progress made this season. We have a club, team and supporters that are the envy of most other clubs. Our future is secure, our owner is committed, our chairman is innovative, our manager is doing well and our team is improving. Bloody fantastic!

Please can the terribly negative posters come on board? If I didn't know I would think we were describing events 12 months ago when the Dark Lord was still there and we had a team of kids nose diving out of existence. The times they are a changin'.

Let's all enjoy the progress we have made and see how far we can go this season. I will continue to dream of 3 Wembley appearances and promotion!!! Imagine that and then think of where we were heading!

Please lets stick together and stop this negative crap. As has been posted elsewhere we have won 18 of the last 25, are unbeaten this year, a game away from Wembley, and have Pompey at home in the FA Cup - fantastic!!

Couldn't agree more.

We are just over 6 months into a 5 year plan to get back to the premiership, the players are now in place for the big push next season, if we dont make the play offs this season then we can use the remaining games as a glorified pre-season to get them all gelled together for next year.

The future looks very bright......but people aren't happy unless they can have a moan about something, we all do it at times, so just let them get on with it.

Only time will tell how great this journey we are on will turn out to be :)

MM, I am with you all the way, but I fear that within a few minutes you will have a selection of replies from the "should be doing much better", "Pardew wants more, why don't you?" "It simply isn't good enough for such an expensive team" and the "Don't give me that -10 points nonsense" brigade, who demand instant success and who will snipe away until you agree with them.....

I dont think there are many negative posters some are just not as positive as you.

I just wish we would play better and have some really good wins in the next few weeks afterall we have spent possibly more than the whole of League 1 all together.

Glasgow saint and gheydays are wummys wums, Alpine is a weirdo as it seems is that fitzborough chap, he's seems to be going mad, maybe old age and John w is w******d.

The funny thing is I don't think any of them go to really ANY games whatsoever, yet post on team matters as if they're the all seeing eye of knowledge about Southampton FC, their opinions really mean nothing they're all miserable sods who drag the forum down. I think everyone is done with Alpine who frankly is nothing but a troll who wants to argue.

Glasgow is your typical glass half empty moan about anything, whilst Delldays is a bit less negative yet he's still in the stage where he's a glass half empty chap in reality the rest of the forum are pretty optimistic and happy.

I think to balance things out, we SHOULD be doing a bit better in the league against the better sides.

I think we should be playing football on the deck and not in the air, I think Papa should start or at least get more playing time and I agree we need to be able to beat the top sides but I am enjoying this season and am delighted with the cup runs. Next season I expect automatic promotion, anything less is a poor show.

I've added Glasgow to my ignore list. I can't be bothered to read his drivelling bile about how awful everything is.

He reminds me of Ted from Scrubs. I bet he's a joy to sit next to at games.

He hasn't posted in this thread yet so i expect he's probably watching a re-run of the 1976 cup final whilst wearing the yellow jersey that's way too small for him.

I agree but want some good performances against the top clubs so that I am confident of automatic promotion which I am not at present but was about eight weeks ago.

We have the players but we need the performances and wins

John I am with you on that. Yesterday was a real struggle - especially the first half! I also have high expectations but maybe am a bit more patient than some. I think we are in agreement generally aren't we?

I think some of the less postive posters built this season up to much. They seemed to think we would clear the -10 after four games and be top three by christmas becuase it hasn't panned out that way they've got all stroppy. Some on here also seem to think we have divine right to beat other teams in this league because it's league one and we're a big club (according to them) when we don't beat these teams by at least three goals they get upset.

Personally I'm happy this season because I excpected us to struggle after all the crap in the summer coupled with relegation, -10pts and the loss of our better players. As it is we're doing much better than I thought we would, I've seen some really good games with plenty of goals plus we have a chance to actually win a trophy.

Next year my expectations will be higher but this year I'm happy

Not that simple - for instance, alot of people here are accused of being happy-clappers; but in reality they are nothing of the sort. They are happy to write this season off as a transitional/learning one on the strict condition that next season we take the league by storm.

In their own way, they are no less demanding than the "negative posters", though that's masked for now.

Assuming we don't go up this one, next season is going to be very interesting. As the gratitude/relief of still having a club wears off and as the quality of squad is improved to dwarf anything else in the league, so i can see more and more people getting on the backs of players if performances don't go our way. I

Wonder how the team will deal with that kind of pressure - Stockport was in many ways a taster.

I suppose I can be classed as one of the negative posters.

whilst I am happy to have a club and a team that has improved. I am disturbed by the number of players that have been brought in without seeing the one that I feel we need more than any. A midfield player that can tackle pass and shoot and is not as static as Wotton. I am also concerned with some of our team selections and substitutions during matches.

I am sorry if my concerns are against the views of the majority bit lie I will not.

Don't worry. There will be an excuse next season.

The "we had no pre season" thing is being flogged to death because the so-called positive people have to have something that makes us out to be Britains most hard done by team.

We're owned by a billionaire, have the biggest backroom team in the lower leagues, buying players above our station left right and centre, some of the biggest attendances in the country, we've got two of the top scorers in the division playing for us.

But we had no pre season so we don't stand a chance against the footballing megagiants like Swindon and Millwall - third tier stalwarts with teams cobbled together of frees, loans and kids playing infront of 10,000 or fewer. Yeah, Swindon and Millwall - they got it easy because they had a pre season. If only doomed Saints could get it all on a plate like them. Saints are so hard done by.

And these people call themselves the positive posters - no preseason, we're doomed.

It's not just no pre-season though is it, its no pre-season, a -10 pts deduction, the sale of our best players from last year, administration during the summer the total destruction of the clubs back room staff and scouting network. No other team in league one had this much crap to deal with this year. Only Stockport come close and look where they are.

The huge back room staff you talk off we're still being assembled after the season started, most of the players above our station (who the hell is that anyway? only one is prehaps to good for us and that's Fonte) were signed in the last few weeks not in August. Attendances mean squat plenty of clubs in higher leagues have smaller attendances than us but they are still doing better than us. Oh and Barnard maybe one of the top scorers in the league but his only played for us a week and has yet to score so wouldn't have help our slow start to the season. No pre-season isn't effecting us now, but it did effect us for the first ten games or so, the result being the poor start gave us to much to do to get promotion this year.

footballing megagiants like Swindon and Millwall -

Another poster who seems to think that just being saints makes us better than the teams around us were in League one for a reason, our days of being a "big club" are over (for now) learn to deal with it.

Basically the way I see it is like this.

Anyone who went to games home/away last season and saw the total dross we played. Felt the horrible dread feeling of this could be our last game as we won't have a club next week, saw the fecking awful players we had out there who could not be arsed, the total sham of the board and its shenanigans and the numpty managers who were not so much more qualified then us etc is most likely happy and loving our season and where we now are.

It would appear that those who don’t go, don’t have those experiences for some reason have the highest expectations of our fan base.

Do we enjoy our football at our football club? Are we glad we have a club that is now well run and able to support the Manager (a proper Manager)? Of course we do and that surely in itself is positive.

We may all have different views on how the team should be selected, the tactics, have a view on our chances of reaching the playoffs etc. That's banter and that's part of footie - it's not negative. Calling someone a numpty or whatever on here for holding a view - now that's negative.

So to answer the OP, I don't think there are actually too many negative posters on here atall. Can't really think of anyone who thinks we will be relegated this season. Is there ANYONE who actually now believes this?!

I am a totally miserable git Modern Matron but am with you on this and haven't enjoyed your post less than many. I do think most of the backing from fans this season has been fantastic and full of hope though.

We are moving onwards and upwards as our neighbours reverse.
