You can get your house burgled & they wouldn't give you the time of day, but a couple of verbals & a few handbags thrown in a local derby & they dont leave no stone unturned .. tossers.. Oh who let the skates out the same time as us?? maybe thats the person that should be in the front page of the echo...

Agree 100%, but having your house robbed isn't as high profile as a bit of football handbags, the coppers need to be seen to be doing something, even though they're fully incompetent. dune Posted 11 March, 2010 Share Posted 11 March, 2010 Yes, but doesn't that go back to the skates being let out the same time as us? if they were held back for 20-30 mins then they would now be solving true crime with our tax payers money! When we were held in at Fratton Park it created a problem for normal fans who weren't on coaches or the train because they had no escort to their cars. If they'd held pompey in for 20 minutes their fans would've stood out like sore thumbs for some nutters to beat up. I presume the decision to let them out at the same time was to look after Pompey fans who wanted to blend in with the crowd and go home without incident. But...letting the skates out at the same time the Itchen were piling out and heading straight into them was a massive schoolboy error. There could have been little doubt that that was gonna cause an 'ugly' confrontation...and guess what... I'd agree big questions should be asked of Hants OB whose decision caused this particular situation. Maybe they need to learn from northern derbies and make a stipulation of buying a ticket goes hand-in-hand with coach travel so all away fans are delivered direct to the stadium and taken away en masse after. If you come from outside the area tough, if you want a ticket... Personally I wouldn't want that but that's the only way if you want stop it. Wade Garrett Posted 12 March, 2010 Share Posted 12 March, 2010 They look really hard in a big gang with a load of police between them and the Pompey fans. I bet they even swore a little bit. StuRomseySaint Posted 12 March, 2010 Share Posted 12 March, 2010 (edited) I think the OB set this one up in all honesty, and almost 'staged' the confrontation. Anyone with half a brain would know that Saints and P*mpey would clash after the game if they came into contact with each other, and it was even more obvious losing 4-1. It is no coincidence that they sat back, video camera in hand whilst it all kicked off. Southampton have been growing quite a reputation around the league... I think this is all set up to wipe out 30-40 of the 'risk' element. Edited 12 March, 2010 by StuRomseySaint

Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 12 March, 2010 Share Posted 12 March, 2010 "If only there had been a police car there I wouldn't have committed rape and murder." Yeah this the same! Like SRS has said, ANYONE with a brain cell would have realised that letting Saints and Pompey fans out at the same time was going to cause 'aggro'. There may have been some in both parties who were intent on causing trouble regardless of the policing situation, but the fact that the coppers let both sets of fans out at the same screams incompetence on their part. As I have already said, personally, I feel that they are trying to cover up for their own mistakes.
