On the OS

Fantastic statement of intent & not any sort of conflict with AP at all.

I chuckled at the description of Staplewood facilities being dated...they are state of the art compared with many - & of course there's one club somewhere down market that doesn't even have a training facility!

Markus, Nicola - I salute your intent!!!

And the good news continues to roll in !

A top appointment in that particular position and a real statement of intent from Nicola.

Compare our greatly improving fortunes to that shower down the other end of the M27, and reflect on how the balance of power is shifting quickly and markedly our way again!

Are we just looking for the maximum wind up effect when we play Charlton in the play offs :D

His record is a bit patchy when in an up front role but it looks like he's good at the more behind the scenes posts. If AP is happy I'm happy.

AP is happy isn't he? No quotes from him on the OS.

I though he was sacked before AP got there. Didn't Dowie take over with him LR as no.2 then Dowie got sacked LR took over then he was sacked then AP came in. But at the end of the Day he has no interaction with the first team so it won't matter what AP thinks as it does not cross into his side of the business. Much like what happens in an IT dept and a sales Dept have no link really.

Gray, Wigley were well respected when it came to their coaching and development abilities, however, their 'stints' as the main man has blighted their CV no different to Reed, clearly AP rates him and more importantly this appointment conflicts with rumour of his and NC's relationship as I will assume AP had influence over the appointment.

Good news all round imo

Absolutely right! one thing that has got me thinking is, is this the person who cortese was looking as a possible director of football role? or is this reed's new appointment different. personally great appointment. loads of experience with england, fulham and charlton - just dont ask steven gerrard for his opinion of reed!!!

AP would not have any involvement in this as it's a totally different side of the business. He would of know about it but not been involved. Plus LR had been sacked @ Charlton before AP got their.

Doubt that very much. Suspect AP has been instrumental in bringing Reed in. It is all part of the same business, you cannot just pigeon-hole people in an overall business and expect it to work. NC and AP will have been discussing this for some time, together with Crocker and others. Just because Reed left Charlton when AP was appointed does not mean they don't know each other well. These top coaches in and around London all know each otherl, they link up on training days at England HQ and so on, probably play golf together (pure speculation on my part there of course but easy to imagine). Football coaching at the pro level is a very tight knit community, especially at a regional level, attending courses and so on.

So in this case then your saying in business that your IT dept is instrumental in bringing in a Tele sales bod.

I'm not saying that AP was not part of the process but it is not in an area that directly affects AP. And everyone was saying that AP worked with him at Charlton which from what I understand is incorrect.

I am sure they new each other and when going through the process of who should be the man I am sure AP had his say but don't think for one minute it was his influence that brought this decision.

Charlton managers :

Alan Pardew 26-12-2006 22-11-2008

Les Reed 14-11-2006 23-12-2006

Pardew took over from Reed, who had a month in charge and had been promoted after Dowie was sacked in the November following Curbishley's departure in the summer of 2006.

As you can see in this link, Les Reed left Charlton and Pardew was appointed :

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/2352827/Pardew-appointed-Charlton-manager.html

We should probably bear the above paragraphs in mind when considering changing managers...

If you are going to be the next Santos manager i will eat my own sh*t while running through west quay naked smeared in peanut butter

You're never too old to learn. I have informed The Lung that I'm not dead yet and am not yet interested in such a prestigious position. Which is not to say it was offered.

PS For the record, I already have Newport & District Sunday B and Sunday C Division Titles under my belt as a player/manager/secretary/coach/founder/top goalscorer.

Appears to be part of a whole re-vamping of the Academy setup.

The hostel in Hill Lane is being sold and the lads will be placed with families in the city. It's meant to get them to do more for themselves rather than being looked after by the hostel staff.
