Not surprising considering we make MLT pay for his tickets. The Carlisle attendence will be given a boost by the Man U link but there are some unglamourous games like Yeovil and MK Dons which surely could have been boosted by this offer? Another example of the club being stuck up its ar*e trying to chase every penny. Even QPR who are top of Champ and could probably sell out every home game till the end of the season are participating.

Andyb1 Posted 29 January, 2011 Share Posted 29 January, 2011 There are loads of teams across the 3 divisions that aren´t taking part. Id rather pay full price for a ticket than buy the piece of sh*t that is the sun 4 days in a row too...

Matthew Le God Posted 29 January, 2011 Share Posted 29 January, 2011 Not surprising considering we make MLT pay for his tickets. Can you really blame Cortese for not giving Le Tissier "freebies" when Matt has slagged him off numerous times in the press? If I were Cortese I wouldn't be giving Matt any freebies, and I like Le Tiss as you can tell by my username.

Even QPR who are top of Champ and could probably sell out every home game till the end of the season are participating. Of course, that's one interpretation. It could also be that we've been left off the list by a simple mistake. Or it could be that we've decided not to take part because either we don't think it's a great deal or because we don't want to do business with a paper that until recently was very happy to slag off Saints and NC in particular. I don't know and I doubt you do. I'd like to think it's because we don't want to soil our hands by dealing with any of Rupert Murdoch's grubby organs, but I doubt that's the case. Leeds? or is it Burnley, Leicester, maybe Donny or Preston. Still good to see you Sun readers can get cheap tix to see Pompey, bet they still won't fill their shed, but will increase the average IQ of attendees for the day. adysaint Posted 29 January, 2011 Author Share Posted 29 January, 2011 Yeah but I meant we are the only League 1 team. I just don't like this: "We're too big for League 1 attitude" Cos thats the way it looks. I know we had probs with The Sun at the start of the season. We will get 18,000 maybe for MK Dons @ Home + maybe 10 away fans. If we'd chosen to participate in The Sun deal and offered £9.50 tickets, we'd get 26,000 + the same 10 away fans. A chance to promote our club and get people that otherwise wouldn't go. And we choose to miss out.
mcjwills Posted 29 January, 2011 Share Posted 29 January, 2011 I notice none of the away teams want to have our games as a cheap one, is that due to the high amount of fans that travel to away games and they are seeing a lot of lost revenue from a big draw? adysaint Posted 29 January, 2011 Author Share Posted 29 January, 2011 Title edited for accuracy. Right, well change it to "Only League 1 Team Not Taking Part". I don't give a monkeys about which Champ or League 2 Teams are / are not taking part. Dagenham had 99p tickets last week. I wasn't on here saying "Lets have a 99p no segregation day". All I am suggesting is that here was an oppotunity to offer our supporters a chance to see a game for less than the usual prices and we chose for whatever reason to not get involved which I think is wrong. rallyboy Posted 29 January, 2011 Share Posted 29 January, 2011 get in bed with Murdoch over a vulgar offer aimed at mean idiots?? I don't think so, we don't need to give away tickets and anyone who needs the Sun to inspire them to go to a game should be sat in their own enclosure away from real fans. That said it's a great opportunity for little clubs to try and improve their gates so fair play to Dagenham, Pompey etc.

Perhaps we didn't want to associate ourselves with them (again, given our history).

That said it's a great opportunity for little clubs to try and improve their gates so fair play to Dagenham, Pompey etc. Thats obviously important to Cortese as he travelled to Wapping to meet the Sun's Sports editor Neil Dunn requesting we stopped calling us "Southa Coast Club" etc. NC lifted the photographe ban and thus conceeded defeat tothe world's highest read english language newspaper - a battle that he wasnever going to win (despite the snobs on here relishing the opportunity to slag off the 8m daily Sun readers, that actually include more ABC1 demographic readers tn The Times, Guardian and Telegraph combined).
