UI rumour........

I like his "How to have a drink in the London Road area of the City" section, I never knew how to drink in the London Road area, I know how to drink in the Above Bar area.

Anyone know how to have a drink in the London Road area of the City after 10pm?

I preferred the 'multi story car park' (sic). Sounds riveting. Perhaps you can combine the two by taking one's mouth AND ears. Could be a new trend. Drink to the narrative.

Did I miss it yesterday - I remain convinced that FullOfHope will pull it off - probably not in my lifetime though - more stuff from motormouth Merrington methinks

Well you didn't miss 'it" because 'it" was a non-event as per usual.

Wants someone to spill the beans on exactly who leaks this "tomorrow for sure"

stuff to them and expose them for the tyre kickers they are.

The problem I have with this announcement that was suggested by Illingworth is that he is allegedly a senior official of the largest Saints fans group.

to do what he did whilst an official was unpardonable , since he should be advocating the stopping of unfounded rumours and not adding fuel to the fire.

The average supporter has been through enough trauma this season without irresponsible attitudes from officials of the Saints Trust.

Agree, however to single him out is unfair, officials at the club have been guilty of the proliferation of rumours, they have not gone as far as to go to print with it(as far as I am aware) but many on here, and I am sure many not on here, have spoken with "senior officials" who by your logic are guilty of the same

If the senior officials are bullsh*tting (which is undoubtedly the case), then name and shame them.

Why not?

Surely after all the non events as regards a so called takeover,it's time to draw a line under the whole thing.People should be 110% certain that the facts are correct, before even attempting to open their mouths on the subject.Nick Illingworth should know better than to spout off in public about this,as nothing seems to have happened all he's done is lay himself open to ridicule !

Most of us have had enough of the attention seekers and those wishing to massage their ego's,which in most of these takeover stories has blindingly been the case.If a takeover happens so be it (and hopefully it will please us all ?),but let's not keep talking about it till the cows come home.

My message to the takeover story merchant's is this :Keep your mouths shut until you can stake your life that the information is true.

120% would be better IMHO ;)

Nick apparently explained what went wrong on the UI today.

Said it's no good buying a load of ammunition if your Kalashinikovs haven't arrived-yet.

Make of that what you will.

He's been reading Cantona instead of Kant to help his kids with their philosophy homework.

Are we going to shoot the board?

Had you said that this time last year, there would have been an awful lot of dead posters by the end of the season...!

Ahhh thats cleared it all up then. No takeover until we can get some 7.62 ammunition for our Kalashinikovs, in order to 'take out' the chickens for our celebratory BBQ once the takeovers announced. I'm fully ITK now...!!! ;)

Why didn't you just say that in the first place Nick?

Yep, apparently that was too cryptic for the average UI poster (who are mostly skates anyway) so he transformed it into an arms dealer parable. The ammunition replacing the sausages and the kalashnikovs replacing the bbq.

We are obviously the sausages (or ammunition) the barbeque or kalashnikovs?

who knows, but the intimation is that we are but a small (but vital) part of an ensemble. I would say that he could have said you don't buy a ton of cow manure unless you've got a field to spread it on,that would have at least been in keeping with the general tone of the average take-over rumour.

Maybe your analogy could be improved in the following way WC:

'you don't buy a ton of cow manure unless you've got a JACKSONS field.....'?

But the Jackson's Field comes WITH the cow manure.

2 solutions to this differential equation with one more unknown than normal.

Either the sausage(ammunition) is the PLC and the bbq (kalashnikov) is the stadium-ie they're having difficulty in settling or coming to an agreement about the outstanding debt with Aviva (N.U)

or

the sausages is the whole PLC shebang and the bbq is planning permission;

but as it stands JF must be offered for sale to Bovis before all others until April 2009 so to avoid that SLH PLC would have to become a property developer or get take over by one, so that JF was not sold to anyone other than Bovis.I don't see planning permission being anywhere near being granted so option 1 is most likely.

It seems to me that what we have here is the old proverb/chestnut/whatever about putting the cart before the horse. Maybe that one's been forgotten.

But, if Window Cleaner's suggestion that most UI posters are skates is true, surely Nick would have done better with something like 'You shouldn't start thinking about what you'll leave to your children until your sister's of child-bearing age'. I think that would get the message across.

and a common tactic of his. It was just that no one twigged it this time, it was picked up on here and before you could say "Feck off Rupert" it was a fully grown rumour with a life of it's own.

As others have observed, serious thing t'internet ......

Shearer reiterates management interest

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/7681338.stm

Some 'beating about the bush' when asked about whether he'd only want to manage in the Premier league.....

Yes but he doesn't have the Pro Licence needed as yet.

Don't know whether they still do "exemptions" on that until the next

set of courses in off season.

"Everyone knows I have done part of my coaching badges," he said. "I have not done the pro licence yet, which is mandatory, but I will do it at some stage in the future. I have said it before and I will say it again, management interests me."

Shearer, however, was careful not to be seen to be actively touting for a role currently filled, on a temporary basis, by Joe Kinnear. "I cannot say I would be delighted to come here, because that would be wrong of me," he added. "I can't say where it might happen and I can't say it would be here. Five days is a long time at this football club."

Shearer will have a choice of championship clubs if he makes himself available for management.

I don't think he would choose to work for Rupert in a million years. I don't think Merrington and his tyre kicking mates are going to buy the club, so we might as well forget about Shearer down here.

Few clubs could actually afford Shearer but what does that matter.

I suppose he must make a few bob out of TV punditting so it's not very likely that he's going to chuck it in to manage Chester or Gillingham is it.

He wants to manage Newcastle, he just ain't saying so.
