I saw a few seasons of danny but rodney for me was slightly better. Think he scored something like 21 goals in 89-90 season and 20 the next season too. Matty and rod formed a great partnership. Matty scored 24 from the wing and 21 season after and rod 21 and 20 goals. The only thing with rod is he doesnt seem to apppreciate the club as much as danny and ray. He wasnt there last week and has missed loads of events with ex players. We tried to sign him under bally when we got gordon watson and he turned us down. Would have been great signing. Opinions?

Remove the sentiment of being around for 10 years and the fact that Danny played almost double the amount of games as his brother and I think you have to go with Rodney as being the better player. Was priviledged to see both of them at their prime and think Rodney had a tiny bit more quality about him and seemed a better finisher.

Danny however, made the bigger and better contribution to the Club.

Nutshell, danny has more love for the club imo.

agree with this. Rodney was the slightly better player. But if I was playing football in the playground I would be Danny.

TBF it's difficult to criticise Rodney for leaving - he could probably see that we were only going to standstill. Especially with Mr Burns the Chairman holding the pennies tighter than a gnat's chuff.

It's 50/50 for me. Put it this way, we had Danny's best years as a player - whereas we only got the start of Rodney's. With Danny, the way he conducts himself is fantastic - on Facebook he's happy to be friendly with fans. Top bloke. Would be worth MORE than ******* Rooney these days. Speed, and finishing? Look at how Redkrapp goes on about Lennon - he's not half the player Danny was.

Danny for me is a Saint for life. Rodney? Would have been nice to see him there last Sunday TBH. Good to see Ray though as well.

both class players felt rodney would sulk at times if he wasnt getting the ball? danny would just go and get it off someone! his pace and strength edges it for me thou rodney was no pussie!

I remember one game - a 4-4 draw at Carrow Road, I think - where Danny Wallace single-handedly ripped the opposition apart. He may even have scored all our goals - can't quite remember. Our defence was obviously not so hot.

Danny for me, I remember watching us one Saturday v Liverpool. Danny was cutting into the box 2 Liverpool defenders were closing him down, quick as a flash he popped the ball through the smallest of closing gaps between them, then like Indiana Jones reaching back for his hat as the jaws of death were about to snap shut, he followed the ball through the non existent gap.

As you can probably tell, that left a lasting impression.

Just as an aside Bobby Robson once said that his ultimate player would have the skill of Le Tiss, the strength of Shearer, and the speed of Rod Wallace.

We named our dog Wallace after Danny, just before he left for Old Trafford. At the time he was by far my favourite player and the one who I wanted to emulate on Grantham Green. I also think that the team that Danny broke into edged it in the entertainment stakes.

I seem to recall the great Georgie Best once saying in the press that at the time Danny was the only current player in English football who he would cross the road to watch?
