Big_Bald_Si Posted 24 May, 2011 Share Posted 24 May, 2011 I don't reckon West Ham will be top six - imagine their squad will get absolutely humped in the close season - huge wage bill. They'll finish 12th! Also - I'd hold off with your predictions until after the play off final

corky morris Posted 24 May, 2011 Share Posted 24 May, 2011 Got a sneaky feeling that Middlesbrough will be up there & whoever loses in the play off final. I can see Cardiff struggling. As for us, top 10, but not top 6. Sorry, just my view.

sadoldgit Posted 24 May, 2011 Share Posted 24 May, 2011 A lot depends on who we bring in. At the moment it looks like we will stick with the main squad so I will say mid table for us.

egg Posted 24 May, 2011 Share Posted 24 May, 2011 Burnley will be up there as well I reckon. A full season under Howe and a parachute payment makes them a threat. I couldn't predict a top six. There are a dozen or so good sides, us included.

Charlie Wayman Posted 25 May, 2011 Share Posted 25 May, 2011 All any of you need to remind yourselves is that every team that went up via the play-offs for the past 6 years has come staright back down again. talking about the top six is therefore futile. Talk about the top two and you might be getting somewhere but not top 6 and let's get real, saints will ne tbe top 2 for sure. I'd guess Cardiff to win it and Swansea for auto. Yep, I know that means Reading to go up next weekend and then down again next year! The south's version of Yo-Yo specialists WBA Brum, WHU and Blackpool are most likely to implode and sink to mid-table as players stampede for the exit door and managerial changes. Turkish Posted 25 May, 2011 Share Posted 25 May, 2011 We will not finish top 6. I think so many are going to be disappointed We will win the league by 20 points with 10 games to spare and Saints stars Lambert, Scott Parker, Micheal Owen, AOC, Lallana and Davis will make up the core of the England team which beats Spain 9-0 in the Euro championships final. Lambert will be tournement top scorer with 24 goals beating Fernado Torres to the golden boot by 18 goals. All 6 Saints players will tie and share the PFA Player of the year award for 2011/12 season. Cabrone Posted 25 May, 2011 Share Posted 25 May, 2011 Funny I've read a few predictions that we're going to be amongst the contenders next season although I'm not convinced. Maybe it's the Norwich effect? For me it's an outside chance of playoffs at best as there's a lot of strong teams in this division. I think that Birmingham, Blackpool, Leicester, Swansea\Reading, Cardiff, Forest, Leeds, Burnley, Boro, possibly us and even possibly Brighton will be fancying their chances. I think W.Ham will find it difficult to adjust next season. Mid table IMO. TBH I'd be happy to stay in the champ for at least a couple of seasons, from a fans perspective I think it's the best division in the country. Prem is just a moneyed wasteland these days. This Charming Man Posted 25 May, 2011 Share Posted 25 May, 2011 You can't really predict the Top 6. Yeah there are a few that will more than likely be there; Leicester, Cardiff and Swansea if they don't go up. Look at Sheff Utd, they were probably half decent odds to get promoted but ended up being relegated. The Championship is mad, anyone can beat anyone and anything can happen. Teams like Leeds, Millwall, Doncaster, Burnley, Watford could just as easily finish in the top 6 as they could the bottom 3. Same goes for us and Brighton. Gemmel Posted 25 May, 2011 Share Posted 25 May, 2011 We will not finish top 6. I think so many are going to be disappointed Its as stupid as saying we won't, as it is saying we will. We might spend so much that automatic would be the expectation...... then again we might not.
NickG Posted 25 May, 2011 Share Posted 25 May, 2011 people some are saying West Ham will be better than us - they have huge debt that they want to decrease, they don't have a manager, there best players are leaving and last two managers totally undermined by an unpopular board. Cardiff? Locals want Jones sacked. They have no money. on-loan players Craig Bellamy, Jason Brown, Stephen Bywater, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, Jason Koumas, Seyi Olofinjana and Jlloyd Samuel are to return to their parent clubs. Jay Boothroyd, Chris Burke, Gavin Rae, Martin John and Adam Matthews all have left / are leaving. Just couple of examples of how much is still up in the air making the division hard to predict. Pat from Poole Posted 25 May, 2011 Share Posted 25 May, 2011 I definitely see Leicester and Burnley being in the top six. I think Howe will have Burnley a stronger side next season. As well as them, I'd say Birmingham, Leeds, Reading or Swansea, and then any one out of Forest, West Ham and Saints. It's going to be a pretty competitive League. saints-cris Posted 25 May, 2011 Share Posted 25 May, 2011 why Middlesborough? Had a good end of season, Mowbray starting to build his own team, good manager. However they are guna have to lose some players due to wages so its in the balance how they'll do.

As you said, a great 2nd half of the season and I think they will carry that momentum into next year although a lot will happen until the window closes. SaintBobby Posted 25 May, 2011 Share Posted 25 May, 2011 Saints are quoted at between 10/1 and 18/1 to win the division. I think these odds are probably too short, but it makes us about 6th or 7th favourites. Much could change over the Summer (we are probably one of the least predictable Summer teams, we cld spend very big...or hardly at all...) My best - but slightly random - guess would be that Saints will finish somewhere between 8th and 12th. I think Boro are a good tip, and maybe Leeds. Son of Bob Posted 26 May, 2011 Share Posted 26 May, 2011 Burnley, Leeds, Birmingham, Middlesborough, Leicester and Cardiff. Us to finish between 7th and 10th. If we have a great start to the season (which is unlikely) we could scrape in the top 6 ahead of Cardiff or Leicester. I reckon Burnley and Leeds to go up automatically.
