sad saints fan Posted 13 June, 2011 Share Posted 13 June, 2011 http://www.premierleague.com/page/Statistics/0,,12306,00.htmlall time premiership table All time premiership table. Although not surprising we are so far up considering the length of time we were there. Still above Pompey as well . Nice to see Matty still in the all time top scorers. benjii Posted 14 June, 2011 Share Posted 14 June, 2011 Le Tissier is the 4th highest scoring midfielder. TBF, for most of his career he was no "midfielder".
scott_saints Posted 14 June, 2011 Share Posted 14 June, 2011 TBF, for most of his career he was no "midfielder". Hmmm, well I never think of him as a "striker" anyway.
benjii Posted 14 June, 2011 Share Posted 14 June, 2011 Hmmm, well I never think of him as a "striker" anyway. I would say he was more striker than midfielder (although when he was younger he played on the wing). Whatever, he was still brilliant.
Green Posted 14 June, 2011 Share Posted 14 June, 2011 Surely the assists table can't take into account every PL season, Le Tiss should be higher? Also, for me it shows how underated he is compared to Scholes who played so many more PL games and got so many more England caps. Or is Scholes overated? OldNick Posted 14 June, 2011 Share Posted 14 June, 2011 take into account that Le Tiss was setting up chances for Dowie etc and his assists tally would be considerably more if it was a top striker.
Barry the Badger Posted 14 June, 2011 Share Posted 14 June, 2011 The away league shows 43 wins in 253 games. Ouch. Would like to see a points per game version but can't be arsed to work it out myself.
charlie saint Posted 14 June, 2011 Share Posted 14 June, 2011 *wracks brain* I remember (what must have been) the 10th anniversary of the Premier League - the papers published an 'all time' league table, and I think we were bottom - definitely of all the clubs which had never been relegated (a much longer list then). austsaint Posted 17 June, 2011 Share Posted 17 June, 2011 You have to have to hand it to Kevin Phillips - he's been a prolific striker and scorer of goals over a long period.

Charlie Wayman Posted 17 June, 2011 Share Posted 17 June, 2011 here's a screen shot, interesting. Which confirms as discussed a year or two back that only 7 teams have never been out of the Premiership and at the time of our relegation, we were one of only 8 to have achieved this distinction. That says a lot about us even 'though we have this snide press reputation of being relegation dodger specialists which is entirely unfair. It was pretty galling then to leave the elite party and even more so now on reflecting on this table. Having been away some time inevitably we are now sliding down the games played list of course but we are still top-20 so we need to get back there fast to maintain our record.
