yeah i struggle to follow his motivations sometimes cos i don't suffer from guilt + empathy personally. I'm more psychopath like that Matt Damon looking motherfucker, wassisname, Todd.

 

Ah, you couch it in such absolute terms (as I did, admittedly).

 

He'll say he never really got over the business in that train episode. When he actually flipped, it was more about realising he'd been Walt's pawn than the events in Hard Freight.

i went out of my way to watch this new show called Sleepy Hollow cos i heard bout it + it sounded cool. It was bout this dude 200 years ago who chops head off another dude & they both die + then they both wake up in modern days. The dude with no head is now Headless Horseman, he is looking for his head. The dude who chopped off his head is trying to stop the Headless Horseman from finding his head (it turns out someone is got his head in jam jar).

 

It was good + bad. I liked the bits bout civil war man being suddenly in modern world, there should of been more of them bits. I also liked the Headless Horseman, he is cool + frightening. He went to this Church and was attacking on this vicar, and the vicar was like, "No! I will never tell you where it is!" and that is when we realise he is looking for his head. Plus he chops lots of other people's heads off with axe which is Karma.

This sounds a lot like the film also coincidentally called Sleepy Hollow and the book which has the name The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Someone is trying to blag someone elses idea here bear. There can't be loads of headless horsemen around or they might pick up each other's head by mistake and become mistaken headed horsemen. This is especially a danger as it is always in the same town as well.

 

I watched Chickens the other night and thought it was ok. Not as good as inbetweeners but pretty funny when he peed on the war memorial. IMBD give it 5.8 out of 10 which is a bit harsh but in the long run probably about right.

i had not heard of chickens. Is there any headless chickens in it? I'm all about people being headless at the mo.

Winter must be coming...

 

Simon Cowell is back with X Factor USA series 3.

 

Somehow Simon really is the King of these things. His put down lines are getting better

If someone I really hated was getting married I'd book YOU as their wedding singer

 

Also think they have tweaked it a bit in the editing to actually be more self deprecating and actually lolage at times.

 

They sure do find peeps that can actually SING over there which I guess would come as a shock to anyone that watches the UK version.

 

There IS one thing I am uneasy with though. So far in the auditions we have seen two performers with disabilities, one physical and one with Tourette's. I have absolutely no problem with them getting their chance and Wow they were good. The young lass Rion's audition was kind of Susan Boyle - in such an emotional tear jerking awesome way (go google yourselves I'm sure it is up there on You Tube) - It just worries me that a kid like her or one with a mental issue can get all built up and then have to face the eventual heartbreak of being voted off.

(Because while they were "Amazing" and "Heroic" and "Talented as hell" they won't fit the greater USA's template of what a Karaoke show winner should look or act like. (and others WERE better).

I may be wrong and it would be amazing for young Rion, but...

 

Good that they allow all comers, but just uneasy and hope the kids don't suffer later on.

 

But damn it Cowell is really good at what he does. The eye Candy alongside him ain't bad either 8)

I've been trying to find a decent show to get into lately and have had a few hits and misses on Netflix,

 

House of Cards is excellent, but the whole show rests entirely on the presence of Kevin Spacey. It's gripping and involving, but well made enough to have you supporting the main guy even when his aims are the absolute polar opposite to your own beliefs. 8 out of ten

 

Luther, I'd heard a lot about this, but I gave up on it after a few episodes. It seemed to just be getting nasty and not in the clever way it seemed to believe it was. I just wasn't getting any tension from it. 6 out of ten

 

Broen (the bridge)' this is a Danish/Swedish crime thriller and it's possibly the best thing I've seen since the wire. The main detective is one of the most original and interesting in years. This one is dark and clever. 9 out of ten

 

Orange is the new black. This is to be avoided. It's basically a cross between Ally McBeal and Prisoner Cell Block H, and not in a good way. 3 out of ten

 

Archer, why hadn't I heard of this? There are about four series of it and it's consistently brilliant. It's an oddly animated spoof spy series with loads of running jokes. Might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I thought it was hilarious. 8 out of ten

Only recently started watching it. The initial writing of Dayman was one of the first eps I watched, and then last night he was resurrected for the show. Brilliant.

Archer is, indeed, genius.

 

If you can sort your DNS settings out, Netflix USA has the first 5 seasons if Parks And Recreation now.

 

There are apps out there, that can change your device if you are using a mobile/tablet.

 

I had one but I t seems to have vanished off the App Store!

Obscurely I have now caught two of Discovery Channel's series about Giant Squid.

 

1st was some blokes off the Azores with a home made underwater camera and tonight's was the Full Monty with David Attenborough about some bloke in Japan.

 

They were worryingly interesting. I feel I am now an expert on Scientists who could out nutjob us nutjobs on the PTS for their weird and obscure obsession to be the first to film a real life Giant Squid. (Look NO Spoilers!)

 

Anyone know a good Shrink? or should I stick to the Food Network?

I've been watching new series of Wanking Dead. It's not my favourite show, I don't like melodramas I'm only in it for the zombies, but the episode i watch last night was v.good. It was episode 2 of series 12 or whatever, it was +++zombies extreme. I also like how the writers are totally trolling that rick character. Alright rick? feeling pretty good bout things, enjoying doing ur farming? Look out! Here is zombies! They is eat all ur livestock + ur friends!

I thought spoilers were banned on here Bearsy. I wouldn't want to spoil the entertainment for everyone by saying they went down deeper than my other half - 600 metres - and found..........

 

Well. I leave you to guess but they did have a machine that kind of looked like it was spraying out..

Coppelia is fairly dark anyway well at least the one I did was. I didn't dance or anything. My twin sister is a dancer and they needed a young child to act etc. I also had to bring the crossbow on in swan lake a few years later. It was at the mayflower.

World's Biggest Ship - Quest Channel Tuesdays.

 

Despite the remorseless march of time I still maintain a child-like fascination with stuff that's big, and in maritime terms they don't come any bigger than the Danish Maerske Line's latest container ship design - the mighty 'Triple E'. This is a fairly straightforward programme charting the anything but straightforward business of creating such a massive vessel - these ships are so vast they would dwarf our new aircraft carriers and they can efficiently transport 18,000 TEU containers within - and on top of - their cavernous cargo holds.

 

There was a time not so long ago when we led the world in commercial shipbuilding, now of course shipping lines go to Korea and China to get their vessels built on time and on budget. But hats off to the Korea Daewoo shipyard in Okpo because the organisation, efficiently, and sheer bloody hard work they put in is quite beyond criticism.

Better late than never I suppose.

So we were a mess today - EoA's son announced his engagement to his (coincidentally) Polish GF after the match yesterday in the pub. So sluggish is the word for today after the whole instant party last night & most of this morning.

 

So that meant we were random Channel Hopping and landed on Discovery Channel - Dynamo Magician Impossible - seems to be S3 & he was in Ibiza...

 

OK I know all these things are stunts/gags/tricks but hey, it is still pretty ******* amazing. I've seen mention of him on TMS somewhere before but must say he is bloody good at whatever the hell it is that he does to turn a fountain in Ibiza into Ice or fuse back stage passes together.

 

Now set on Series record. Excellent understated stuff

 

Cannot quite work out why he is on Discovery though. Thought that was all Science/Nature stuff.

'Don't Panic - The Truth About Population' (BBC 2 Thursday) reintroduced viewers to this planets most entertaining statistician - Professor Hans Rosling. I well remember his last programme when the great man conclusively proved that the average Human Being has less than two legs. Yesterday he took a close look at the issue of our rapidly rising human population, placed its extraordinary growth rate into its historical context, explained why this is happening, and then showed why we should not perhaps worry too much about it.

 

Funny, knowledgeable, and incurably optimistic this truly is 'must-see' television for anyone blessed with a enquiring mind ... oh and British university students are dummer than Chimpanzees.

Sherlock (BB1 Sunday)

I much enjoyed this hectic mish-mash of a romp as Holmes is reluctantly forced to attend Dr Watson's wedding (a true 'fish out of water' situation for him) and deliver the dreaded Best Man's speech. However I must say the method the murderer choose to kill his victims off - stabbing them through their belt buckles which somehow left them unaware that they'd even been attacked - was a load of old nonsense.

 

But never mind, because despite its innate daftness this was still good stuff.

 

The Bridge (BBC4 Saturday)

I loved the first series of this Danish/Swedish crime yarn and I've fallen for it yet again. What a bizarre partnership Saga and Martin make - she is a Asperger's sufferer who is quite brilliant in her own way, but cold and utterly incapable of forming normal relationships with other people. Martin on the other hand is the polar opposite of that, emotional, warm hearted, and full of Human weakness. Yet the two of them somehow form a great partnership - a sort of Scandinavian 'Starsky and Hutch' but not if you know what I mean.

 

Perfect TV for a dark winters night this.

 

Longmire (Five USA Tuesday)

Early days so far but I kinda liked the first episode of this new (new to me anyway) US police series. The USP of this show is that we are removed from the normal gritty urban setting for this kind of thing and relocated to the fresh air and wide open spaces of rural Wyoming. Walt Longmire (played by Robert Taylor) is a middle aged local county sheriff with a lot on his plate. He has to manage his police department, fight crime, cope with the (so far mysterious) death of his wife, get re elected ... oh and get along with the local Native American population at the same time.

 

If they can keep the standard of the scripts up to scratch then this series could go far methinks.

That's a great series, managing to be funny and dark at the same time. I'm a little bit in love with Saga Noren too. i like her attitude to meeting blokes.

The Bridge has started well, was expecting a drop off in quality but have been surprised. Longmire is a nice slow paced cop show, Major Crimes restarts midseason next week and will no doubt be up to the usual high standards. Very disappointed with Sherlock its trying way too hard but failing miserably IMHO.

New US TV show alert.

 

Helix.

 

The pilot looked promising. Remote Arctic Bio Research base. Some contamination. CDC called in.....

 

Then is this some form of Zombie, Andromeda Strain. Conspiracy, The Thing? type of story with plenty of nervy moments.

 

Still not sure what it is Sci-Fi or Conspiracy or whatever.

 

Worth a watch if only for the vomiting in a Bio-Hazard suit moment :o
