exit2 Posted 4 January, 2009 Share Posted 4 January, 2009 Does anyone know what happened with this incident? As you heard someone had colapsed in Brittania Road and they wanted any witness's to speak to the nearest police officer? Did anyone see this happen or know what really happened? I know there was little pockets of trouble today, but from speaking to a mate who is a cooper today they seemed to have most of it contained, so Im hoping it had nothing to it kicking off

Whitey Grandad Posted 4 January, 2009 Share Posted 4 January, 2009 We came round that corner at about 10 mins to kick-off. The gentleman was lying on the ground on his right side and there were 5 yellow jackets attending to him. One of them, a lady, was rubbing his ears and talking to him telling him to 'hang in there' and that the ambulance was on its way. He looked barely conscious, if at all. I think that she was calling him 'Arthur'. It's very sad to lose a fellow supporter, especially in such circumstances. May you rest in peace, sir, and we'll all be thinking of you at the next game. Whitey Grandad Posted 6 January, 2009 Share Posted 6 January, 2009 Does anyone know who it is yet? RIP I've just found this today: http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/4019102.Post_mortem_due_on_fan_who_died_outside_St_Mary_s_stadium/ and amongst the messages at the bottom: cmh, says... 10:41pm Mon 5 Jan 09 he was my dad and a very loyal Saints fan all his life. Thank you to whoever helped him. My condolences to cmh and all his family. I would like to think that we could all take a few moments at the next home game to recognise their loss. Guest Dark Sotonic Mills Posted 6 January, 2009 Share Posted 6 January, 2009 I'm sure I read somewhere that his first name was Arthur. That is correct. The earlier piece in the Echo mentioned the Paramedic calling his name in an effort to keep him conscious.

saint boggy Posted 11 January, 2009 Share Posted 11 January, 2009 bless him, he looks like a lovely man..... has anyone heard if they'll do a minutes silence at the next game?.....i know the club can't do it for ALL saints fans who pass away, but this man was on his way to support the team he/we love....i think it would be a nice gesture to his family and friends RIP Mr Heys x
RedWillie Posted 11 January, 2009 Share Posted 11 January, 2009 Whilst it would be a decent gesture it is impracticable to do it each time a true saint passes away. Best wishes to his family.
ooohTerryHurlock Posted 11 January, 2009 Share Posted 11 January, 2009 Does anyone know if anyone is going from the club to the Thanks Giving - Just seams that when you read the article he has been a very loyal fan - (I know they can't do it for every one) but how many time s does a situation like this occur. He was on the way to game and collapsed and died on a street corner. Just seams like a couple of players or someone from the Board should show. Would be nice if Barry's hope s of an end to the division with in the club could come to fruition. Does anyone know if there is a collection or any donations? RIP BARRY - ...YOU WERE DEFINATELY IN THAT NUMBER!

SimonRichards Posted 11 January, 2009 Share Posted 11 January, 2009 I used to sit 2 seats away from Barry for 2 seasons when I had a season ticket in the Itchen stand (i've since moved to family centre) He was a really nice fella. Very passionate about saints and had a great sense of humor. I used to talk to his son at halftime who used to tell me that he only goes to watch the saints nowadays for his dad. RIP Barry and condolences to his family.
