fos1 Posted 5 January, 2009 Share Posted 5 January, 2009 I would like to know who will not be renewing season tickets next season if Lowe and Wilde still at club, we got talking about this at yesterdays game, a group of 10 of us all had season tickets for 25 years and over. All 10 people said they would not be renewing they have had enough once and for all !! How do other people feel about renewing ?

Dicko Posted 5 January, 2009 Share Posted 5 January, 2009 I feel totally disillusioned at paying nearly £500 for a season ticket, and come January have only seen 1 win That ****es me off more than Lowe or Wilde Strangely enough, I think I'm more likely to renew if we get relegated Come July when I'm starved of footy, I'll start looking forward to a promotion push and will probably buy a new one

Snowballs2 Posted 5 January, 2009 Share Posted 5 January, 2009 The home results will be the killer, you would expect more than one win at the half way point. I believe that if the trend continues many people will not renew but buy on a game by game basis. This will bring significant problems and pretty much guarantee Administration before the start of the season. The reason ? ...the first £2million of season ticket sales must be used to pay the stadium loan, it is written into the loan agreement I am told. trousers Posted 5 January, 2009 Share Posted 5 January, 2009 Finances permitting I will renew.I support the team, not the board. Is it not possible for a bad board to affect the team? And if so, isn't any short term pain that helps remove said board a longer term benefit to th team? So, it could be said that whilst hurting the board may initially also hurt the team in the short term, it will actually help the team in the longer term? So, by renewing your season ticket (and thus, by association, endorsing an arguably 'bad' board) you could actually be damaging the team. An interesting paradox either way... mini_me Posted 5 January, 2009 Share Posted 5 January, 2009 Nope. I have to say that this season has been in the nail in the coffin for me. I have also missed more home games this season than ever before due to holidays/weekend breaks/etc when I would have previously booked those around football. I will go on a game by game basis. We just seem to let it happen and do nothing about it !! I couldn't agree more! I was around when the fans got rid of Branfoot by putting pressure on the board but in those days we all cared passionately about this club. Now I get the impression that the passion has been knocked out of the rank and file fan by Lowe and for the best part most people couldn't care less. I have supported this club for 55 years home and away but I have to say that my enthusiasm has waned to the point where I am rapidly losing interest. I know that when the time comes I will still renew my season ticket but this is not the club that I have supported all those years. The fault, in my opinion, lies solely at the door of Lowe who is the worst thing to have happened to my beloved club in over half a century. Sorry if you don't agree with me but talking to other highly committed fans I am not alone in my views.

I have held x4 STs for many years for myself, wife and 2 children. Renewed only 2 this year and we wish we hadnt... I did not renew mine. We will NOT be ST holders next year or the year after or year after that whilst Lowe and Wilde take us into League 2. We support Southampton Football Club... Junction 9 Posted 5 January, 2009 Share Posted 5 January, 2009 I shall be renewing as usual mainly because I can't be arsed to ring up every week for a ticket and like keeping my seat for every game. If you're going to go every week anyway what's the point? Haven't Lowe and Wilde left this club before? Was there an immediate upturn in fortunes the moment they walked out the door? Unless the club is bought I can't see what you expect them, or anyone else to do.
Give it to Ron Posted 5 January, 2009 Share Posted 5 January, 2009 I can't see what you expect them, or anyone else to do. Not go for ridiculous Dutch experiments that havn't worked anywhere else in English football. Especially in a season when it was known nearly all the experience players would go - in anyones sane mind then you would not have an inexperinced coach/manager setup to go with inexperienced players. I will not be renewing my 2 for the simple fact I cannot justify £500 watching the team when I can go and watch the same players for free at Staplewood. We didn't have Dutch experiments last season and stayed up on the last day. I don't disagree that it hasn't worked but it was worth a try IMO. We would have been playing the youth whoever the manager was.
TheSaint75 Posted 5 January, 2009 Share Posted 5 January, 2009 Undecided at present, I am expecting an addition to the family and not sure £500 for an s/t is a priority anymore I am also thinking, is it worth going home after a game with a few beers inside me and being miserable with the Mrs, I wasn't very nice to her last night and it isn't her fault we have an incompetent Chairmen and board! 1 win in the 1st half of the season isn't good enough for any team in any league!! That said I probably will in the end
Saints Noog Posted 5 January, 2009 Share Posted 5 January, 2009 I wont be due to the fact there are no benefits anymore. red&white4life Posted 5 January, 2009 Share Posted 5 January, 2009 Nope not me. All 5 of us (used to be 10) have decided enough is enough. It costs us about £2,500 a year each (price of ST, beer, taxi's etc) and this is only home games. Why pay so much money to end up walking out of SM's feeling completely down. I know that £2,500 could make me so much happier spent on other things (we are planning a few weekends away to Euroland to watch some games next season), it just sucks being a Saints fan and has done for a few seasons (IMHO of course). Whilst i acknowledge that the board shenanigans have contributed it's what i am seeing on the pitch that has ultimately made my mind up. Col. WRINKLY SAINT Posted 5 January, 2009 Share Posted 5 January, 2009 Sadly I will not be renewing as long as Lowe and his cronies are anyway near this club and have any chance of ever coming back. I support Southampton Football Club(nad have done since my first game 1959/60 season) BUT I do not support Southampton Leisure Holdings(ie Lowe and his friends). Obviously other people have different views and believe that continued attendance is the way forward, I hope they are right. There are views that only Lowe can save us ,but he got us here in the first place. Selling players has always been Lowes way in the Premiership and now the Championship so if anyone believes we have to sell may be right, but sadly due to his track record of using the players as a revenue stream for SLH. Remember this man have taken millions out of this club in salry and dividends and he will only leave when he sees the golden goose dieing.

eurosaint Posted 5 January, 2009 Share Posted 5 January, 2009 For the 1st time in about 30 years I will actually consider carefully whether it's worth it (before it was just automatic) ! lt really will depend upon : a) What league we will be in? b) What the pricing structure is? c) A gaurantee that administration would not make me lose my money? d) What the management structure looks like being? e) Gut instinct of how the future is shaping up ? If Lowe were to go (hip, hip..) then no probs, I would renew immediately !

Toomer Posted 5 January, 2009 Share Posted 5 January, 2009 My daughter is getting married in 2010, the £375.00 I paid for my ST this year would cover the cost of four of the seven suits we have to hire. Mole Posted 5 January, 2009 Share Posted 5 January, 2009 The more people who don't renew as a protest against Lowe and Wilde the better. There's always 1/2 season tickets at Christmas if you're worried about play-off tickets etc. I've gone from ST holder to member to just a customer. I can't even bring myself to waste £20 on a membership as it's just a con to get money for nothing to line Lowes pockets.
