Bailey Posted 8 January, 2009 Share Posted 8 January, 2009 So assuming the paperwork gets sorted in time for Jan-Paul to make his debut, what do you reckon the team will be? I reckon it could look something like the following . . . ------------------- Davis ------------------- James ------- Perry ----- Saeijs ------ Skacel ----------- Surman ---- Schneiderlin --------- Smith ---------- McGoldrick ---------- Holmes --------------- Saganowski ------------------ Subs: Bialkowski, Lancashire/Molyneux, Gillett, Euell and BWP Ideally I'd put BWP out wide right with Euell 'in the hole'. However, I think the above is much more likely. Wouldn't be too surprised to see Molyneux feature at some point either.

fanimal Posted 9 January, 2009 Share Posted 9 January, 2009 That none of you have mentioned McGlaggon, who to me has been the brightest spark on the pitch for a while, and 10x the player Smith is. Saintsnodisbelieving Posted 9 January, 2009 Share Posted 9 January, 2009 BARNSLEY 11/10 DRAW 12/5 SAINTS 10/3 Whilst trying to see who is in the team I looked at the price for Saints and expected a much larger figure, yeah, Barnsley are not high flyers, but we can not buy a goal, and considering how close to administration we are, we certainly couldn't afford the price if someone offered it. But 10/3 I would have expected at least 5/1 or higher, but of course the bookies don't like losing money so the price is low. I did try to look through for other prices. But my heart is not in it, we need a win, any sort of a win, and so would stick with the stingy prices of 10/3 but I was amazed at that you still had prices up for saints players to score, who are either suspended or haven't played for us for a long time due to injury or our own inability to pay them due to contracts. Do these bookies care about what prices they put up. A price of 5/1 for Paterson to score. That would be a bloody miracle as he is banned for three games. http://saintsnodisbelieving.blogspot.com/

NickG Posted 9 January, 2009 Share Posted 9 January, 2009 their team news BARNSLEY manager Simon Davey is facing a selection nightmare as he bids to get back to winning ways at Oakwell against Southampton. Anderson de Silva (ankle), Hugo Colace (thigh), Diego Leon (hamstring), Martin Devaney (ankle), Rob Kozluk (facial injury), Michael Coulson (knee) and Iain Hume (fractured skull) are all likely to be missing from the squad. Miguel Mostto has also returned to Peru and his absence will also further deplete the Reds options. There is some good news though with Darren Moore, Jamie Cureton and Jon Macken set to return after missing last weekend's FA Cup defeat at West Ham. Youngster Jacob Butterfield is on standby to make his full home debut while Mounir El Haimour and Maceo Rigters could also retain their places in the starting eleven. Andy_Porter Posted 9 January, 2009 Share Posted 9 January, 2009 (edited) Bit harsh on Gillett, he's a decent enough midfielder you need a few players like him to go with all the fancy dan creative players. I'd start him alongside Schneiderlin in the middle, or maybe even Wotton and Schneiderlin. I really don't like Surman playing in the middle in an away game. Glad to see Saga back in the squad, hopefully he and Saeijis both start. Over land and sea Posted 9 January, 2009 Share Posted 9 January, 2009 Also looks like Pulis and Gasmi are not rated at all, makes you wonder why we signed them ? And it makes you wonder why we went to the bother of recalling Jamie White from Shrewsbury - not even made the squad let alone the team. Given he only had a week or so left of his loan, seems a fairly pointless recall.
