Weston Super Saint Posted Thursday at 12:14 Posted Thursday at 12:14 Nothing but praise for the NHS in recent months! OK, it's taken two years to get to this point but I finally had spinal fusion and decompression surgery on Tuesday - hopefully going home today!! Since January I've had an MRI - happened within 3 days of being booked, a CT scan - happened within 10 days, nerve root block, 3 X-rays and numerous appointments with the consultant surgeon. All have gone like clockwork with minimal waiting (about 10 mins was the longest). The care post surgery has been fantastic and provided by knowledgeable people good at their jobs. Top marks from me - maybe even higher once the surgery heals and I get to live relatively pain free!! All done at Southmead hospital in Bristol. 6

Glad to hear that you are being well looked after and all the best for a full and speedy recovery. 5
spyinthesky Posted Thursday at 15:14 Posted Thursday at 15:14 I am very lucky. My GP is great and the Surgery, in quite a challenging area, is highly rated and I am also fortunate to have a very good NHS Dentist. However I pay a small fortune for Private Health Care which has proved worthwhile when my wife and I have had to have surgery. We prioritise health care over expensive holidays and flash cars and try to live a relatively healthy life style, notwithstanding a bit more alcohol consumption than is probably good for me - a consequence of the crap football at SMS this season!! Not every one feels the same way re comparative health arrangements, of course. 1

What wonderful care you've had, and thank God you got the surgery in the end. I had a discectomy, fusion and bone graft earlier this year and am thankfully through the other side. My only advice is to do nothing more or less than advised, walk as much as you're encouraged to, and see the recuperation period as an opportunity to recharge your batteries. Good luck mate, you'll be fixed up in no time. 3

Back home now so a chance to start healing properly - starting with a good night's sleep tonight! Sounds like you had pretty much the same thing done. 3

Think some love to talk it down out of routine. 3

sadoldgit Posted Thursday at 17:16 Author Posted Thursday at 17:16 They have just cut away from the news of the trade deal to go to the Vatican. Henry V111 will be spinning in his grave. He’s a bloody yank too (but not Pope Donald).

I have been suffering with back problems for a while myself (not as bad as Weston’s though) so I have a lot of sympathy for him. (Back to normal tomorrow 😉) 2 1
