Nothing but praise for the NHS in recent months!

OK, it's taken two years to get to this point but I finally had spinal fusion and decompression surgery on Tuesday - hopefully going home today!!

Since January I've had an MRI - happened within 3 days of being booked, a CT scan - happened within 10 days, nerve root block, 3 X-rays and numerous appointments with the consultant surgeon. All have gone like clockwork with minimal waiting (about 10 mins was the longest).

The care post surgery has been fantastic and provided by knowledgeable people good at their jobs.

Top marks from me - maybe even higher once the surgery heals and I get to live relatively pain free!!

All done at Southmead hospital in Bristol.

Sounds like you have been through it. Glad to hear that you are being well looked after and all the best for a full and speedy recovery.

I am very lucky.
My GP is great and the Surgery, in quite a challenging area, is highly rated and I am also fortunate to have a very good NHS Dentist.
However I pay a small fortune for Private Health Care which has proved worthwhile when my wife and I have had to have surgery.
We prioritise health care over expensive holidays and flash cars and try to live a relatively healthy life style, notwithstanding a bit more alcohol consumption than is probably good for me - a consequence of the crap football at SMS this season!!
Not every one feels the same way re comparative health arrangements, of course.

What wonderful care you've had, and thank God you got the surgery in the end.

I had a discectomy, fusion and bone graft earlier this year and am thankfully through the other side. My only advice is to do nothing more or less than advised, walk as much as you're encouraged to, and see the recuperation period as an opportunity to recharge your batteries.

Good luck mate, you'll be fixed up in no time.

Out of interest, who do you use for private healthcare? I’ve been thinking about it for a while now.

Thanks mate.

10 weeks booked off work. Will be walking as much as possible just as soon as the excruciating pain subsides!

Back home now so a chance to start healing properly - starting with a good night's sleep tonight!

Sounds like you had pretty much the same thing done.

Good news mate and NHS are brilliant for so many. Think some love to talk it down out of routine.

Is this the equivalent of Christmas Day in the trenches?

They have just cut away from the news of the trade deal to go to the Vatican. Henry V111 will be spinning in his grave.

He’s a bloody yank too (but not Pope Donald).

I have been suffering with back problems for a while myself (not as bad as Weston’s though) so I have a lot of sympathy for him.

(Back to normal tomorrow 😉)

I appreciate we are a civilised society but like to think we’d take a  Shawshank Redemption style approach to supervising these cunts. Should be terrified to move with fear of a beating. Same for that Libyan cunt

Pious old racist yet again.

@Gloucester Saint@badgerx16 I am no laughing at events (as you well know, you are just shit stiring). I am laughing at your silly comments about how others will be disappointed it was not a Muslim. You use a dreadful event to point score. Hang heads in shame.

The Conclave elect the Pope that God directs them to. If He wants a pious old racist, that is what He will get.

Better not speculate on the incident in Liverpool. Even tweeting about it could get you sent down

I'm going to go with, either an Everton fan or the return of the Klopp.

Probably best not. 53 yo white British bloke apparently. Find out some facts first is always sensible.

Looks like an irate driver caught up amongst the fans.

Edit - looking at another clip… sick bastard, hope he gets a long stint inside

From a mate - Rumour is Intoxicated, trying to leave the area, hits a pedestrian, crowd react and attack vehicle, driver goes into (Intoxicated) fight or flight then hits another pedestrian, reacts late and veers into crowd.

Seems to be the case as this appears to be the start of it

The penalties for drunken drivers is far too lenient. They cause utter carnage but get handed down a few years inside then come out to resume living their lives. Too soft like a lot of things in this country.

The footage via BBC is further forward from this clip but seems to continue the pattern of driver behaviour https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/cn5xnlkegz0t

Reports of the car beeping and driving at up to 20mph through the crowds of people. Horrific. Why drive a car through the city centre in the first place when you know the parade is happening and then seemingly get annoyed? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ce8209lzzp4o

Was he driving erratically before someone opened his door and others starting attacking the car? Looks like he panicked after that and tried to get away. Sad whatever.

There are going to be a lot of disappointed people if the truth of this incident is as it seems.

Will there?  Why do you say this?

Does that also mean there will be a lot of people pleased about the truth?

See if you can work it out.

In terms of the event, no. In terms of it not becoming a provocation for a repeat of the response to Southport, yes.

I’m glad the police learnt their lessons and were able to give more “information” about the alleged incident, compared to stuff that happened not so far away

I can guarantee that if the details of the perpetrator weren't disclosed so soon, this thread would have been full of assumptions that it was a brown Muslim. Yep, some will be disappointed that they're assumptions were wrong. Sad state of affairs.

Sounds like there are quite a few pleased/relived as well. certainly the case if you scroll through X. Plenty on the celebrating the fact is wasn’t a brown Muslim. I’m sure here would be the same.

Which is equally a sad state of affairs.

Nic seems to find this whole episde amusing.

If he’s watched the video Whelk posted, he will pack it in with the laughing emojis.

Go on @east-stand-nic watch it and dare you to laugh at it. I’ve seen some horrific things in a previous career but that is far, far worse still.

I don’t give a toss who the suspect is, my heart just goes out to everyone impacted and the poor bystanders who will never unsee that, however much counselling they receive. You weren’t even mentioned, and in fact it was another poster who mentioned Southport.
