goodymatt Posted yesterday at 09:33 Posted yesterday at 09:33 Like with Brownhill, chasing one last pay day? Not sure he was ever under consideration for a return, even though it’s the profile we miss. 1

Tommy Mulgrew Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago I wonder why Goztepe did not apparently want one of our strikers. Sinclair Armstrong does not seem to be very good; I am surprised Goztepe want him. But he has scored 11 goals in 11 games. We could have given them a genuine Tall Paul.

He is currently the definition of crapid but if he can develop slightly then his physical characteristics would make him interesting. Remember him causing us a lot of problems for QPR at St Marys last time in the Championship. Would be interesting to see how he does if that move happens. 1
goodymatt Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago So the Belgian window closed last night, Edozies move never materialised. What do we think happens now? Will he perhaps leave for Turkey by the 12th deadline or Saudi by 23rd? Or is his reintegration the most likely outcome from here? Aribo was always going to be one of those windows that is still open or run down his contract. I’d keep him as 4th choice at CM plus ability to cover elsewhere. Trouble is that we just don’t have enough spots in the match day squad for all of these players!

Feel like he's been badly advised, but looks like he was definitely on his way with his 'bags packed' picture the other day. Hopefully Aribo gets his move.
Dusic Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Pretty sure Edozie stays. It seemed he was going to either Bruges or Strasbourg but then both signed other players in his position and there hasnt been a strong link for ages for a move for him. Aribo hasn't been strongly linked with a particular club all summer really - potentially could move to one of those leagues but still think he is most ljkely to stay as well. Given the volume of games I am sure both will end up with some minutes and then it can be reviewed in Jan. Hardly disasterous as both decent at this level. 6
gio1saints Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago I hope we do not need to use them but the fact that our reserves will 100% be stronger than most others means that in the depths of fixture congestion we should prove stronger and stay “ up there” in the table fingers crossed. 1

They are both perfectly capable players at this level and played a part in our last promotion. It's far from a disaster if either of them ends up on the pitch at any point this season. 3

I can see Aribo getting some minutes and he's a good lad to bring on if we need to calm the game down and keep hold of the ball. Not so much Edozie - he's probably behind Scienza, Robinson and Fraser so will probably take a couple of injuries or suspensions before he even makes the bench.

I am wondering if the club's valuation was not met by those clubs? The bags packed/empty house instagram images was only a week ago, which suggested he was about to depart for somewhere.

Although the squad is still too bloated, having these lads around until January is no bad thing. 1

Took a while before Martin found a role for him, but from December onwards he played a pretty major (central midfield) role in our promotion side. He has his limitations, but he is what Strachan would call brave - getting on the ball and keeping up despite pressure from an opponent, allowing player time to move into space. I guess there is time for him to move to Turkey, but he and Edozie training seems a good indication that no one is getting close to a deal.
Luke SkyWalker-Peters Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Edozie is a strange situation as I recall Alfie House on TSP suggesting that he had numerous offers, presumably in Belgium, and that he was just taking his time to make his decision whilst seeing if a better offer came. I had a glance at his instagram account and in his most recent post it looked as though he had packed-up everything in his house to move out. The place looked empty! Whilst I do think Edozie is a good player for this level and would be a welcome addition, I am concerned that he will now block Robinson's opportunities. I feel Robinson has shown real promise and potential and is the one academy player that we should be ensuring gets substantial minutes this season despite inevitable dips in form. If we invest minutes in him this season, we could have a real player in 12 months time. Robinson was already going to have enough competition as is with Scienza, plus others like Fraser and Adarma who can do a job there, so I'm just concerned at the crowded situation at LW now. I think Aribo is a very welcome addition as we are a bit short at CM. He has been a reliable starter the last couple of seasons and is a very good player for this level. His versatility and experience will be very useful in a season we are hoping to win the league. I'd be happy to let him play-out his final year of his contract and let him go with our best wishes at the end of the season. 1

When Aribo joined I thought he came as a forward, I wonder if he was treid there, I recall he was quite a decent finisher in the box early on
gio1saints Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Joe Aribo has the ability to hold the ball in crowded areas of midfield and is hard to dispossess. He showed that characteristic multiple times in the promotion season. He’s not flashy but he retains possession, at this level, very well. He is also willing and able to play almost anywhere so he could make match day squads with injuries etc. Sam Edozie, as has already been mentioned is a LW pure and simple. He will be battling it out with Jay obviously but also the new guy Leo - who will surely get first /second dibs - and then there is Ryan Fraser who has rediscovered the form that saw him ultimately take Sam’s place last time we were here. I suspect Sam is currently going to be fourth choice and not making the match day squad for now. 1
