3 use a fan

Great idea! Never thought of that a fan of who though? And how would that cool me down?

Lots of fan use destabilises the climate, resulting in a regional cool down.

Anyone got an effective way to kill these bastard flies?

I've been working in my lab on these...

There were some initial protests from the neighbours. But they're all quiet now...

It’s full of people who have been to Wimbledon, one guy looks like he’s done 8 sets with Federer, guy with a Grease haircut whose never seen grease and a very loud bird from Wakefield, the dynamic of a first class train trip

Aren't all birds from Wakefield loud ?

According to the BBC's advise, you need to find somewhere cooler to go. HTH.

It’s not the actual heat I mind, it’s the humidity. Not at Singapore levels I admit, but it ain’t pleasant to be out and about in. Give me spring and autumn over summer any day.

Agreed. I spent some time in the middle east, the heat was horrific and I don't think I've ever experienced anything like it since.

In this country, a key difference I first noticed in 2018 on holiday in the Lakes when the WC was on, was that the peak of the temperature was 5-8pm, sometimes right up to 9pm like it will be today. And it was really hot that year, 35-40. It has to be hot to make Cumbrian roads melt.

I’m fairly certain for most of my life, the heat mellowed by 5pm and you enjoyed a lovely temperature in the evening to be outside.

Or am I imaging this?

Typical incomplete announcement. It's up to you to tell everyone in the station, that the water bottle isn't just for carrying. There's a cap at the top of it that comes off, and you should sip the contents. Be sure to tell everyone not to drink it all at once in The Heat.

Don't be a SOG, stepping over collapsed Parisians. You can save lives, Turkish! 🙂

Ah 2018! Remember that one well, I was based down in Goodwood and can recall the fields being scorched due to the heat.

I've said it before on the climate change post but it is really getting hotter, one farm I work with notes down the temperature and rainfall every day and has records going back to the mid 1800's. As well as heat we're experiencing heavier periods of rainfall too..

An Amber Warning As Heatwave Grips Britain

Is the sensationalist alert i've just got on my phone 😂

I don't really get why people find things like this so funny. Yes, warning systems have improved in recent years/decades as there wasn't previously the mechanism/awareness to provide such warnings. Things have changed.

But if you look what an amber health warning actually means, it's that the NHS might be affected and there may be travel disruption etc. For anyone that's ever worked in the NHS or had to travel during hot weather, I doubt that's wildly surprising.

If by issuing a warning prompts a few people to take sensible precautions such as staying out of the midday sun, wearing suncream, keeping hydrated, looking after elderly neighbours/relatives or making sensible travel plans, I don't really see what the issue is. I can guarantee there'll be an increase in morons complaining they've got entirely avoidable heatstroke over the weekend or other vulnerable people struggling.

Despite what people on football forums might laugh about, the climate is getting warmer (yeah, yeah it was hot in '76, I know) so gearing up for adapting to it can only be a good thing.

How the hell did I ever cope in the olden days?
