There goes the Fear by The Doves is a tune as well.

It was that or Pounding. The end of There goes the Fear is phenomenal. Lovely lads too, and hopefully Jimi gets well.

It's one of my happy songs, pop that on along with Solsbury Hill by Peter Gabriel, Piano Man by Billy Joel (get well soon) and Prettiest Eyes by the Beautiful South and I'm instantly in a better mood.

Aces High
Montsegur
Moonchild
Fear of the Dark
Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner
Hallowed be thy Name
Sign of the Cross

Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb

As long as it's the Pulse version.

And in Dogs and Pigs (three different ones) as well.

Kill or be Killed gets proper heavy at one point (alongside Won't Stand Down). Shame the rest of the album is utter toss.

Stockholm Syndrome is incredible as well.

Go listen to Exit Music for a Film...

Unravelling is probably their heaviest to date in truth - picks up on the back of kill or be killed and won't stand down. I am ofc just messing around re the whole radiohead/thom yorke thing (it was ever so slightly before my time) - although i can't listen to radiohead, just puts me to sleep.

I'm an '84 birth but they passed me by first time round - I "discovered" them in about 2012 - modern day prog (and my true love is prog).

Although no Roger Waters, the magic is with Gilmoure on this one anyway

Another great song, for very different reasons, Led Zeppelin’s Stairway to Heaven

A brilliant mix of completely owning a stage/song, with your mate having an insane ability to blast out a legendary solo rift whilst being of his face on probably every recreational drug going at the time.

also, Don’t look back in Anger (Oasis). Anthem of a generation.

shouts to

Kate Bush, Running up the Hill,

New Order, True faith

Bizarre Inc, Playing with Knives

Nalin and Kane, Beachball (classic Ibiza)

I love all of those. Courteeners are so underrated. The Opener probably my favourite of theirs.

FEAR narrowly missed my cut.

Both those Smiths tracks are amazing. I saw Marr down here a couple of weeks ago. His version of both was immense, there is a light in particular.

I’ve seen the Courteeners about 20 times always been a huge fan right from the St Jude days when they played in front of 2,000 or so at Leeds O2 Academy, I’ve seen them play in front of 30,000 at Heaton Park and Old Trafford cricket ground and I’m still amazing at the amount of people, mainly in the south, who say “who?” When you say you’ve going to see them

velvet morning makes my list due to the brilliant version Ashcroft does on Acoustic Hymns which gives a different dimension to an already great song.

some of them not the best songs by the bands but personal to me for different reasons like can’t stand me now and Ruby Tuesday

Free Bird or Shine On You Crazy Diamond is going to be my funeral song, just haven't decided which yet...I like the sombre start, but toe tapping last 5 minutes to Free Bird though - everyone would be in a good mood leaving.

Really hard to whittle my entire GOAT playlist down to just ten tracks but here goes...

Stone Roses - Made of Stone

Aretha Franklin - Say a Little Prayer

Frankie Valli - The Night

Rufus & Chaka Khan - Ain't Nobody

Depeche Mode - Enjoy the Silence

Massive Attack - Unfinished Sympathy

Love - Alone Again Or

Primal Scream - Movin on Up

Levellers - What a Beautiful Day

Bob Marley - No Woman No Cry

Special mention: Kula Shaker - The Great Hosannah. I get why they are so universally disliked by indie purists, and I can't say I'm a fan of most of their stuff, but this opening track from their second album is a massively underrated great tune IMO.

Great thread, and some cracking choices. Here's some I'm surprised not to have seen yet, although we'll all have left out loads of crackers I suppose.

The Chain - Fleetwood Mac

Girl you'll be a woman soon - Urge Overkill

Walk this way - Run DMC

Losing my religion - REM

Starman - Bowie

You're so vain - Carly Simon

She sells sanctuary - Cult

Purple Rain - Prince

Lose Yourself - Eminem

Numb - Linkin Park

Enter Sandman - Metallica

Absolutely brilliant song that, great shout, it's on my gym playlist so listen to it alot

An unusual one im not a fan of opera particularly but a couple of songs i love. Con Te Partiro by Bocheli and Nessum Dorma, childhood memories of 1990 world cup, being a kid enjoying life.

Yep, saw them a couple of years back at Spurs, he was ropey as fuck then, none of them wanted to be there in fairness. He was back to his snarling best last week. Big difference was they all actually wanted to be there this year, pratically had to drag Slash off the stage.

Yeah superb. They used it for Lineker on last MOTD

I don’t know enough opera but some brilliant others get hairs on back of neck as you say Nessum Dorma that comes with memories
