Danger we get overrun in midfield (more so than usual) with Downes out and no natural back up defensive midfielder in the squad...?

Yeah, midfield glaringly light. I imagine Azaz will move back, but it does seem horrendously light sadly. Not much we can do about it.

Ah, cheers. That makes it interesting. Can only be Fraser or Azaz dropping into the midfield...or a crazy leftfield solution of Manning in there, with Fraser shifting to LWB, and Robinson taking up his usual role.

Surprised we didn't include Sesay on the bench. Bit of an oversight having no DM in reserve...? (Easy to say in hindsight I know but...)

Edwards isn't starting though, the change for Downes was to bring Robinson on.

So can only assume it means Azaz moves back centrally alongside Charles, with Robinson and Fraser either side of Archer.

Thats what I think, Azaz dropping back alongside Charles to cover for Flynn, with Robinson and Fraser on the wings.

We don't know he was "absolutely fine". Plus, it is possible for things to develop quickly.

Azaz doesn't seem mobile enough to play in CM to me. Surely it's Fraser who seems to be able to play anywhere these days. We'll see shortly.

Manning has played there, so him going in there is a possibility. Not a nice one mind.

Even with Jander, this shows why I'd still like another CM even on loan. Such an important position to have 3 players in backed up by an 18 year old.
