Need a lot of luck tomorrow. Hopefully Saints can put a decent performance in taking chances will be key. We can create but terrible at shooting. More shots on spec and edge box, ping some shots in get reflections, second balls in box. Stewart up front gives us an option otherwise its been easy for defenders. We are still under dogs by some ways, disregard the £47m players and £150m team. Its on the day. At least we won v Sheffield United. Skate fans think its in the bag from home game and our awful football so could play into our game, if we have a plan. All the talk if Fratton atmosphere,  thier apparently big support, team unlucky with injuries otherwise it would be a nailed on win. Saints just need to turn up and play attacking football we have seen before.

Jack Stephens to get 92nd winner! I would 2 goals first half to settle us.

The Scum Army were established in 1885? So that makes them 141 years old? That's gotta be the oldest youth mob around, no wonder they don't run

That’s nothing the fearsome 657 crew have got a 300 year old lad.

And a 3 month old. He’s already been down the pub to talk about the football.

I was never brought up to hate Portsmouth. Before and after the war my uncles used to cycle regularly from Southampton to Fratton Park to watch division one games. I was pretty ambivalent about them. And then I went to the cup game in 84. Front row seat in the stand above the home terrace, separated by a matter of feet. I was pelted with coins and came home covered in spit and bananas. That changed my opinion radically. The way I explain the difference between us to people who don't understand is that someone could wear a Pompey shirt in Southampton with relatively safety. Walk around Southsea in a Saints shirt and you wouldn't last five minutes.

I think that last bit is bollocks personally and arguably another part of their myth that they care more.

I used to use the hovercraft there a fair bit as well as take my nipper to the pier and regularly saw people showing their Saints allegiances.

Any idea if we can drink when waiting for the coaches / will bars be serving at the ground?

Not heard anything around the actual day yet

Food and drink available in the ground.

Not much else to do if we're getting there at 9am!!

Big issue we had in the home game was that we went long they won everything and also every second ball. Our midfield just sat so deep and there were huge vacant areas between the forwards and the midfield. Saints need to be braver.. push higher and win second balls. But I don’t think Tonda has the experience to win this game from the sideline.

Be wary, that place is going to be hideous. They’ll make every effort possible to be seen as the cheerleaders.

For those attending, be loud, give them hell and enjoy.

I would advise against that. The last time I went on the bubble we were locked on the bus for what seemed like hours and were not even allowed off to have a piss. People were pissing on the floor or in bottles and emptying out the windows over the plod. I managed to hold it in but it was not fun.

If we lose Sunday I feel sorry for anyone going, the whole bubble experience is pretty grim. From what the Skates at my work are saying the journey in and out might be interesting, apparently there is a road closed meaning the bubble can’t go the usual route and will have to go through the town. They always say that shit though, last time we didn’t get any sort of ‘welcome’ apart from a few toothless inbreds and fat old slappers giving us the finger.

I had no idea when we last won there in the league as the furthest back I remember was the 2-2 in 87/88, (lost at home 0-2) season when Clarke scored a brace. I knew we have not won there in the league there since then. So I had to check it…..

before then we smashed them most season on their own patch!

So it is about time we won there yeah? 🤔

I agree. It looks like he joined yesterday so he's a Pompey fan pretending to be a Saints fan. They are weird.  They do things like that online. "Walk around Southsea in a Saints shirt and you wouldn't last five minutes." Classic pompey bullshIt.

A few years back. a Saints fan went into the Fratton End, on his own,  at one of their league games, and for a bet, took off his jacket to reveal his Saints colours. I believe he also waved a flag. The Pompey fans just chanted 'scummer' at him before the police eventually led him away to protect them from further embarrassment.

On the TrueBlueArmy forum afterwards they found it really hard to put a spin on it.

Someone on Talkshite earlier said something along the lines of "In a derby, the form book goes out the window" and I thought, well that's good, seeing as their recent form is actually better than ours. 😁

Unchanged team Tonda. That's all I want. Same line up, same formation. Fanny around with 3 CBs when we're comfortably 6-0 up.

That was down to Will Still who made it clear in his press conference that we were going to be direct which resulted in us banging a series of long balls to no one in particular from the first whistle. It really was a strange approach to such a big game.

Eastern Road is closed northbound for 8 weeks due to a sewage pipe breaking, so the coaches probably will need to come in on the M275 unless they close part of the Southbound section for a short period. Getting into Pompey during a rush hour is very slow going, so the incredibly early start will stop the coaches getting stuck in traffic.

That is a long time. We should have won in the promotion season, but fucked it up. 'First league win there for 50 years' has a nice ring to it.

They will change the contra flow southbound of the Eastern Rod to allow all the coaches down there.

yeah, makes sense. I do recall in 2004 on the way home they took the coaches all along the seafront and even down past the hard, which was bizarre, but that was probably because of the idiots smashing up their own city.

It may be that skates away is on the clubs list as a right off, one they strike through on the list of fixtures. And other games are seen as a target for 3 pounts. I'm sure clubs do and put less effort in or try out tactics as the cost of losing 2 points and drawing.  I got that feeling it was decided for Pompey home game.

Also the 'players take time to fit in as new team' etc looking at next month for when team start the push for 6th place, which gets moved to next month.

And those that do spend all day talking about football because they’re so passionate, so they get fired as they do no work.

Surely will be red and white.

Be good if everyone can be in their seats a good 20 minutes before KO tomorrow to get some atmosphere building.

We're gonna be there for 2+ hours before so may as well give the lads some support during the warm up, there'll be plenty of time for drinking beforehand if giving them lot money is your thing.
