Saint Matty 76 Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago Perfect time to play them but we experience that quite often to not much success. Draw wouldn't be the end of the world. Really should capitalise on contrasting momentum and keep pushing upwards though. 1
swedish dave Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago I was pondering ...that if we could only win one of these games.. which one would be most interesting? Three league points would encouraging, but winning the Cup match would put us into the fifth round.... and I enjoy a Cup run more than anything, and especially this season ...for obvious reasons. 1

We aren't winning the FA Cup. 3 more points towards the play-offs push is the priority here. Would be nice to win both though 🙂 4 1

We're a great team to play against when you need a win and a confidence boost. Not won for 3 months? Play Saints. Striker not scored for 12 years? He will against Saints. 4 1

We got more chance of winning FA cup as only a few games to win. We need more wins to get 6th and then another 3 to win play offs. We could out sideways Man City anyday!!

Either / Or ? False choice. There's no reason we can't win both, why not? There seems to be a good feeling in the squad right now, people are playing with smiles on their face, tails are up and morale seems to be high. Even Cap'n Jack has stopped making mistakes, probably because Weli is doing the LB job properly. … and Vardy is just a distant bad memory! 1
M271 Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago Has there been an Eckert Press Conference for this? Link? I’ve looked on Saints YouTube channel and website.

suewhistle Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago In 1976 Saints were 5-1 against and I thought to myself that those were very good odds for a two horse race. But alas I was a poor student.. and remained so!
SaintsBarry74 Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago We somehow always seem to do poorly against these. They've never been more shit in recent times, should be a win for us.

Downes with his knock might be the obvious one with Charles coming in. Jelert for Bree perhaps although Bree has earned his place in the last couple of games. I wouldn't touch the CBs for now, or Welington. Jander and Azaz would stay for me, along with Stewart up front. Scienza or Fellows perhaps, one of them could be rested or dropped, possible Fellows with Edozie or Matsuki coming in. Something like: Peretz Jelert THB Stephens Welington Charles Jander Edozie Azaz Scienza Stewart That's 3 changes without diminishing too much of the quality.

I wouldn't make any changes at all unless we absolutely have to with injury to Downes, I did think most of our team look absolutely knackered in the last few minutes against Watford, yet we'd had all week to prepare whilst they'd had a game up at Hull. Saints coaches need to address lack of fitness in the squad rather than calculating which players need resting all the time
SNSUN Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago 8 hours ago, die Mannyschaft said: Put your 2.5p on Saints and Sheffield Wednesday for title. How are we on the same odds as Wednesday? At least we could mathmatically win it if we won every game (and all the bottom half teams won against the title challengers) - the most points Wednesday can get is 38 by winning every game.

Personally for me I would never mess with a back four that are keeping clean sheets, unless of course there is an injury. Leave those sort of changes for the cup game. 3

Leave those sort of changes for the cup game. I agree with this. The only slight concern I have is that Welington has shown to be a bit injury prone since he arrived and with him playing so well the temptation is to keep playing him. Not sure if that’s a genuine risk or not. What I do know is Manning vs Fatawu is not what I want to be watching later! 1

Oisin Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago I’d keep the team unchanged barring injury. If players need a rest I’d rather it happened at the weekend. Both are extremely unlikely but we’ve marginally more chance getting to Wembley via the play-offs than the cup so I’d prioritise tonight. 1

DT Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago We should insist that Aribo is allowed to play. Think we can win this now we have a non-shit keeper. Who knew? All those months saying Bazanu was useless and we kept losing. Then we get rid and start winning. It's almost as if this fan base knows something. Also, getting rid of the bulk of the clique appears to be working, now there are no bad eggs stinking the place out (although perhaps there's still a faint whiff of a wantaway striker). Would take a draw but think if things click we can pile on the pressure and win 0-3
M271 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I seem to remember he picked Quarsie for the last Leicester game in November for his speed against quick Leicester counter attacks, maybe the same again but the HB Stephen’s partnership has developed nicely in recent matches when playing 4 at the back.

Bree strikes me as the type of player who takes 3 game weeks in his stride. He needs to keep playing unless he's carrying a knock. Let's not change the back 4 which is performing very well. 1

The medical science guys are pouring over the stats from these vests the players wear and the data extracted is used to decide when a substitution is needed. Seems like overkill to me - unless he clearly can hardly run another step why not just let the player take a breather and keep him on the pitch especially if he's someone crucial? We have brought groups of players off too early and lost momentum and thrown away points in the process too often. Not enough old school common sense being applied in my book. 3
