Angela Rayner on Conservative severance packages, including those to people who rejoined just months later: 

"After the mess the Tories have left our country in, they should be hanging their heads in embarrassment, not walking away with an enormous payoff.

"At a time when people up and down the country are struggling to pay their mortgages and put food on the table, it shows a staggering lack of shame for them to accept this money, but is exactly what we've come to expect from a bunch of Tories who only care about themselves."

Angela Rayner on her severance package, upon rejoining the government some months later:

"No, my severance payment was given to me at the time, I had worked in government for a period of time and then I came out of government for just under a year."

Pausing to eat some of the waffle she had just presented, Rayner said she had "unfinished business" in government. The former deputy PM, pushed into resigning after breaching the ministerial code, did not specify which free concert tickets she wants to make sure she gets this time round.

Ange has always been a bit of a liability to Labour. Shes pretty gobby, not all that bright, and by various counts wasn’t ever that much of a great local MP. Never saw the appeal of her being so high up other than that she was obviously working class, making a success despite an impoverished upbringing.

Would still love a go, mind.
