Alain Perrin Posted 3 February, 2009 Share Posted 3 February, 2009 Is Surman any good? Katalinic Posted 3 February, 2009 Share Posted 3 February, 2009 Lol at you Lowe luvvies coming on here giving it large just because we didn't sell our best players (is that the extent of your ambition?) - have you looked at the league table? SaintBobby Posted 3 February, 2009 Share Posted 3 February, 2009 I'm delighted with the lack of departures. I can only assume that the financial situation is nothing like as bad as some people think, or have been led to believe. If we were on the brink of financial meltdown, we'd surely be giving players away (as Leeds effectively did), just to get them off the payroll. Just interested in hearing what Saint's fans think of Surman now that he has signed for us...... oh, what's that you say? Surman and Lallana are still here? Surely not? That explains a lot. So you're a Reading fan, eh? Well, I didn't think that you were much of a Saints fan, being as how you used every opportunity to disparage the views of those who wanted to rid the club of the two most divisive people who have ever had control of the club. In which case, why the hell did we employ a cheapskate Dutch coach rather than keep on the perfectly able one who was already employed by us? alpine_saint Posted 3 February, 2009 Share Posted 3 February, 2009 Are we not all pleased at keeping our best players ? It gives us our best chance to stay up, if we play our best 11. Whats with the petty points-scoring ?
Snowballs2 Posted 3 February, 2009 Share Posted 3 February, 2009 (edited) Of course we are pleased they are still here, it does not change the current league table though Edited 3 February, 2009 by Snowballs2

Just interested in hearing what Saint's fans think of Surman now that he has signed for us...... oh, what's that you say? Surman and Lallana are still here? Surely not? As I said when Poortvliet got dumped out on his ar5e, I really don't think "Told You SO" posts do anything but cause division and rancour. Continue if you must, but in the grand scheme of things you should expect a lot of incoming if your best "told you so" is that we didn't lose a few players. ozzmeister Posted 3 February, 2009 Share Posted 3 February, 2009 I agree with Alpine, who cares who was right and who was wrong. The fact is that we have kept our best players and actually strengthened. Yes I know the league place doesnt look good but lets get behind the team and behind the manager and try to get out of this. You dont have to like the board thats fine, but support the club. They need us!!
derry Posted 3 February, 2009 Share Posted 3 February, 2009 Lowe was hardly going to sell anyone in the circumstances and weaken an already untenable position. The average fan is angry enough at the moment, if some of the better players were sold at knockdown fees and not replaced, Saturdays march would be nothing in comparison to the reaction. Greenridge Posted 3 February, 2009 Share Posted 3 February, 2009 Unfortunately it probably says more about the calibre of our playing staff than it does of any intentional strategic decision on Lowe's behalf. I guess you could have titled this thread 'Look At Me' as there numerous other threads of the same topic already running...and all generated by the same 'camp'. Sad really. Just interested in hearing what Saint's fans think of Surman now that he has signed for us...... oh, what's that you say? Surman and Lallana are still here? Surely not? Total OWN GOAL Alain !! I think perhaps you realise by now, what a stupid thread this is ? We will give you the benefit and say it was meant with partial humour, but don't expect the majority of true fans to go along with it.All along "the powers that be" at St Marys have bleated on about cost-cutting and players having to be shipped out,so even those that don't share your views are content that we have held on to players. dubai_phil Posted 3 February, 2009 Share Posted 3 February, 2009 I've posted before that our "often blinkered" viewpoints on here cause us to miss the "bleedin obvious" Using the standard Forum View that Lowe is an egomaniacal control freak, did anyone NOT notice the not so subtle hint that we would NOT be negotiating any Sales this week? According to consensus, Lowe wasn't even in the country - out there somewhere stalking Alpine Sure he must have a Blackberry but really, Mr Hands on would trust somebody else to screw a decent sell on clause? - Our own logic made such a possibility impossibe! So this means - Lowe is not the egomanical control freak he is taken for on here Lowe entrusted MW to handle any deals to sell The club REALLY meant that they did not intend to sell in this window. We're already doomed so what was the point ho hum What other obvious clues do we keep missing?

Carlos Fandango Posted 3 February, 2009 Share Posted 3 February, 2009 Are we not all pleased at keeping our best players ? It gives us our best chance to stay up, if we play our best 11. Whats with the petty points-scoring ? On another site somebody wrote an article about how Stoke have signed loads of ex Saints players. Alpine pops up with a sarcastic reply bringing the article down to an anti Lowe topic. If anybody isn't in a position to accuse peopole of points scoring it's this Alpine character. Alpine, what do you think qualifies you to comment on something you have no first hand experience of? From your lofty perch you certainly can't see the Saints games this season and yet you continually spout vitriol? Gleaning your knowledge from message boards is a very dubious activity I would say. Chez Posted 3 February, 2009 Share Posted 3 February, 2009 I'm delighted we have kept Surman and Lallana at least until the summer, I want to see both develop further here not anywhere else and think both have a major role to play if we are to survive. I'm less fussed at Skacel staying, if he had gone that would have freed up money for a couple of loans, but now we have him lets play him at left midfield even when Holmes returns. Stoke have signed far far too many players in any case. When they get relegated they will be in really big trouble. We might even be able to buy a few of our ex Saints back from them on the cheap. It will be a boy scouts' jumble sale at the Victoria Ground. Alain Perrin Posted 3 February, 2009 Author Share Posted 3 February, 2009 To be honest this post makes me look a bit of a ****. We should be thankful that our 'asset' players are still here. Anyways, apologies for the baiting. I'm not a fan of that and feel a bit ashamed (I can only blame it on lack of sleep and the discovery of free wifi in the departure lounge )
