Saints67 Posted 9 April, 2009 Share Posted 9 April, 2009 According to yesterdays OS they only had shifted 16000 tickets for the Palace game. So my amateur maths works out they have shifted approx 8000 tickets in 24 hours. With three days to go this would possibly mean a sell-out.....if that rate of sales keeps up of course. If that ratio carries over to all ST holders we should be having a riot at the ticket office on monday
Saintmike666 Posted 9 April, 2009 Author Share Posted 9 April, 2009 Many more than the 16,000 according to the Echo earlier! Yeah it surprised me too. But when I asked how the sales were going for the Palace game the lady I was talking to on the Ticket Office booking line said ''There's 7000 left, selling really well'' I'd only just read that Echo article just before I phoned up so it did shock me a little. voteforpedro Posted 9 April, 2009 Share Posted 9 April, 2009 I assume 7,000 left is without opening the corners. Which means they have sold around 18-19,000? Assuming the capacity is around 25-26,000 with the corners shut. Which would still be quite impressive seeing as 24 hours ago we had only sold 16,000. Ticket Office Posted 9 April, 2009 Share Posted 9 April, 2009 Not yet they haven't. I've just got my ticket for Palarse, and asked if the corners were open, a blunt "No" was the answer from Mr Luker. not quite sure that was from me, but apologies if answer was blunt. The corners will only be opened if demand is there. We have 7000 tickets left for an operator to sell. This doesnt include corners or away end unsold areas. SFKA South Woodford Posted 9 April, 2009 Share Posted 9 April, 2009 That's pretty poor when you consider the situation that the club is in. Do the people of Southampton actually want a football club to support? We all know that the team is not serving up much entertainment on the pitch at the moment for whatever reason, but if you don't like what's on display on the pitch, care about the club and can afford it, buy a ticket anyway, support the club. The team is much more easily rebuilt than the club.

Much less people being skint or living the other side of the country there can be no more excuses. Not trying to sound like an 'uber' fan here but surely people would want to go and help save the club?! I dont get it! Performances, quality of football and results are all now second to the survival of the club! IMHO

Griffo Posted 9 April, 2009 Share Posted 9 April, 2009 (edited) If I'm honest, if there were no financial difficulties. I'd rather have 20k at home against a Championship team with Itchen North open, Itchen and Northam both standing and singing like it was last season, over the Premiership with everyone in the ground sitting, with a full house and making no ****ing noise. Reason this has come out because I have recently watched a season review from 03/04 and the atmosphere seemed, and in those times was, dire. Also, David, how many have been sold for Wolves so far? OldNick Posted 9 April, 2009 Share Posted 9 April, 2009 All very disappointing. The traincrash last saturday was not very exciting and so they have deserted us again. Is it due to RL being on tv, it surely isnt a case that fans want to see the team win. Watch them flood back if it is going to be last ever game at the stadium against Burnley etc. Anything less than 25k and it shows that we have a very fickle fanbase apart from 15k go through the good time and bad time hardcore. The Godfather Posted 9 April, 2009 Share Posted 9 April, 2009 When the admin stuff was revealed and the support became so vital to show investors what the club is about and provide some funds, I honestly thought we'd easily sell out the final 3 home games. 27,000 was pathetic and it's looking like a lot less this time unless we beat wolves. Lets be honest if the ticket prices were not £15 against Charlton we would had less than the 27000 odd. Although its kids for a quid on Monday its still full price for adults. Window Cleaner Posted 9 April, 2009 Share Posted 9 April, 2009 Isn't that the away shirt? I thought the voucher deal was on the home shirt which is still full price? It is indeed on the full priced hom shirts, or as far as I can make out it is. A "L" is £40, so even though you get a free ticket with it it's by no means a giveaway. Plus the tickets are "subject to availability" whether they'd reopen the corners to meet demand for free tickets is debateable.

Spot on! The stay away fans are very much part of the problem and deserve to shoulder SOME of the blame. Like I've said before, some people, of course cant afford it these days, and others have far to far to travel but in general there's not many excuses left. The club needs its fans, now more then ever. If the main excuse was Lowe then what's the reason now?! 70's Mike Posted 9 April, 2009 Share Posted 9 April, 2009 lots of people getting upset but the reality is outside the premiership we are always going to have a hardcore of around 15000 to 20000k depending on results. Of course the 15,000 empty seats were not all down to Lowe, at least not directly. But the best comparison is last season when Lowe wasn't here. We averaged 21K i think which is where we are back to now the fV(kwit has gone. Danny Posted 9 April, 2009 Share Posted 9 April, 2009 30k a week like a proper big club and we'd never have been near administration. wouldn't matter if it was lowe in charge or not, we'd have an infinitely better chance. Yet people stay away then moan about the team, the lack of money, the lack of success. It's pathetic and sad because it costs the loyal 16k or so who actually do turn up purely for saints, not just to see man utd. Can't argue with that. Support the club, while we have a club to support, what's served up on the pitch is now irrelevant. Where are all the tens of thousands who profess to love the club? brmbrm Posted 9 April, 2009 Share Posted 9 April, 2009 I don't doubt that. That's why it's so depressing. Bugger all to do with Lowe being gone and more to do with cheap tickets. A time when we should be trying to provide more money and support, and we only turn up for cheap tickets. I know mostly I'm saying this to people who DO attend regularly so it's pointless, but it's so frustrating having so many utterly ****e fans out there. Errr, yeah, like that's right: attanedances under Lowe were up in the high 20k's weren;t they? Oh no, silly me, they weren't - they were more like 14k. But of course in your eyes only an extra 10k doesn't really matter. jeeshhhhh..... (You going?)
rallyboy Posted 9 April, 2009 Share Posted 9 April, 2009 I think most of us have given up on entertainment and value for money, personally it is about putting money into the club to keep it afloat while a buyer is being found. The club has given me some great times over four decades and that is the loyalty I am trying to repay. I fully expect an appalling showing against Palace but I will still support the shirt and won't quit if we aren't playing like Brazil. I don't see that the worst Saints team of all time or crap results are a reason not to try and save the club, especially as of a fortnight ago the money is now going directly into the club coffers with no chance of it disappearing as director's fees. And if people really can't stomach more awful games then at least buy a ticket and stay at home. I can't believe we still have to emphasise this BUT the club will not make the Burnley game without further finance, and no, the fans shouldn't have to cover for the board's mismanagement but they have left us on the brink and we have to deal with it. The team may well fail us again, but off the pitch it is time to stand up and be counted.
