TheSaint75 Posted 13 April, 2009 Share Posted 13 April, 2009 Fantastic support today, not sure of the attendance figure but it looked ok to me. Singing start to finish, why would anybody NOT want to invest in the mighty Saints. And full price tickets, so all the nay sayers can't say a good turn out was due to cheap tickets!! Problem is, none so thick as those that don't think, and most of you are sheep, just copying what the last one said. If you think that the crowds would return in there thousands when Lowe left, you are clearly fools of the highest order. Now, get into a huddle and come up with your best no brain retorts. So you've spoken to all the saints fans who haven't been going since we got relegated from the prem and 99% of them haven't been going because of lowe?? Behave. Very few clubs get attendances of 30k plus in this league. I would say 23-25k is about what we should be expecting with the current prices. Bailey Posted 13 April, 2009 Share Posted 13 April, 2009 I actually thought the attendance was pretty decent after a disappointing defeat against Charlton. The atmosphere was good and the players responded to a lively crowd. Fair play to all today. Hopefully we can get at least a point against Sheffield Wednesday, and then fingers crossed for a sell-out for what could be our last home game ever! SFC1906 Posted 13 April, 2009 Share Posted 13 April, 2009 Just thought it it worth noting that only Derby, Sheff Utd, Norwich and Wolves have an average attendance of over 23k this season. So I'd say our last 2 home attendances have been pretty good to be fair - considering where we are in the league, the carp football etc. http://itv.stats.football365.com/dom/ENG/D1/attend.html
crouchi Posted 13 April, 2009 Share Posted 13 April, 2009 It was surprisingly OK today, not a bad atmosphere, not a bad game - great shot for the goal. Some of the head tennis in the penalty area was laughable. um pahars Posted 13 April, 2009 Share Posted 13 April, 2009 23,000-ish so much for all the people who stayed away because of the board situation coming back - full of ****e the lot of them:( Two points here. Firstly, our average attendance during "Lowe's" reign this time was 16,808. Since then we have pulled in 27,228 & 23,220, so a definitive increase of 10,000+ and 6,000+ if you use our average as a yardstick. Secondly, I always thought that the general consensus was that the "boycotters" numbered in the hundreds rather than thousands.

Give it to Ron Posted 13 April, 2009 Share Posted 13 April, 2009 I am very surprised that the official figure was 23k especially as the tickt booth in The Marland said they had nearly sold out. Wolves average less then that and they are top of the league. Birmingham City average less too as do most of this league. um pahars Posted 13 April, 2009 Share Posted 13 April, 2009 started well with the support for our soldiers. alehouseboys Posted 13 April, 2009 Share Posted 13 April, 2009 Well It amazed me when I heard the crowd was under 24,000, I thought it looked 26k+. And I wonder how many walked away, the queues down Britannia Road just before 3pm meant many wouldn't have made kick-off. Many clubs in this division (and some in the Prem) would love to have our fanbase.
niceandfriendly Posted 13 April, 2009 Share Posted 13 April, 2009 After a shocking performance against Wolves and a bad result against Charlton, the attendance deserved to be about 15,000. St Landrew Posted 13 April, 2009 Share Posted 13 April, 2009 It amazes me how people don't realise that fans will not automatically return to St Marys despite Lowe and Co leaving. It will take time. There are fans who decided very early to not return. What did people expect them to do, just wait at the gates until Rupert left, and then return the very next game..? They got on with their lives and did other things. Some may never return, such is the cultural change of not attending Saints. But most will return, perhaps next season, perhaps in the next 3 games. We gave Rupert far too much time. Now let's give some of our fellow supporters some time too. EDIT: BTW, 23,000 odd are a few more than 15,000 odd. Fan The Flames Posted 13 April, 2009 Share Posted 13 April, 2009 Jesus, the last two attendances have been great for a championship club and brilliant for a championship club second from bottom. Its been a positive increase since Lowe and its a response to administration not Lowe going (the boycotters were few in number really) and anyone who thinks the response since administration is poor maybe needs a reality check. Which should be applauded but the Charlton game was £15.00 and todays game was kids for a quid which would of added to the "extra attendees". No doubt some some anti Lowe fans have come back but I'm sure a rallying cry from the administrators has helped attendances given our plight. rallyboy Posted 13 April, 2009 Share Posted 13 April, 2009 good quality of crowd today, slightly disappointing quantity. But there are obviously thousands who have returned knowing that their money is now going to the club and not into director's fees and dividends. Any boycott didn't put the club into administration, it just stopped Rupert having an extra holiday and a new car, and anyone who thinks that income hasn't been bypassing the team and pouring out of the other end of the club is kidding themselves for their own agenda. And good to see that no one bottled it after 70 minutes, though I did see one man who looked like he was popping out for the toilet so I abused him just in case he didn't return. You only had to look round the stadium today and you would have to be an idiot to think that it is a business with no future or potential, a great advert for any sensible consortium.
