Scummer Posted 8 May, 2009 Share Posted 8 May, 2009 Isn't that just part of Wotte's quote from a few days ago, where he next said something like 'we'd like to keep them if we get taken over'?

No both out of contract I believe. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/articles/article.php?page_id=11751 it states we cannot extend their contracts. Obviously Rocket Swanie writes for the Mirror. krissyboy31 Posted 8 May, 2009 Share Posted 8 May, 2009 Sloppy Journalism IMO. Just cut from the piece Wotte did for the OS but left out the bit where he said that they may be offered terms after the takeover had been completed. This report on Sporting Life has the full story. http://www.sportinglife.com/football/cc_championship/southampton/news/story_get.dor?STORY_NAME=nonwire_soccer/09/05/06/manual_144044.html&TEAMHD=soton
saintjay77 Posted 8 May, 2009 Share Posted 8 May, 2009 Wotte said they both were happy to wait for a takeover and see if they are able to be offered anything before they decide to bugger off. Despite there indifferent form since they have been with us I think should they get offered a new contract and accept it to be playing for us next season they should get our full support as im sure they would be able to find a club pretty easily in the CCC should they wish to bugger off. That said if they go I wont be too fussed either lol
spank_182 Posted 8 May, 2009 Share Posted 8 May, 2009 I think if we actually bothered playing BWP most matches he could and would've been a very useful player for us this season. If we can get them to sign a realistic contract, both would be useful players next season, especially Bradley if he can get his act together. All out of contract players are "free" transfers, ie no transfer fee is paid. They're not usual free for the acquiring club though as a signing on fee is very much par for the course. Not true, other clubs still have to pay a fee for under 24s if they have been offered improved terms by their original club.
Smirking_Saint Posted 8 May, 2009 Share Posted 8 May, 2009 Sad to see Euell leave, feel he could have done well. As for BWP, i feel DMG is the better of the two and don't think they would compliment each other. Plus the fact i don't like him nor do i every elses infactuation with the little b*stard. Purely IMO obviously.
Born In The 80s Posted 8 May, 2009 Share Posted 8 May, 2009 Euell - I'm sorry for hurling non-stop abuse at you pretty much everytime you have played in the last 2 years. I guess it's not your fault you were offered such an embarrassing wage. However, you (along with Mr Wotton) are one of the worst footballers i have ever seen in a saints shirt. You won't be missed but thanks for at least looking like you give a ****. Wright-Phillips - Good ****ing riddance you useless, overpaid, prima-donna ******. You have done nothing but be an annoyance since you arrived. If you put half as much effort into playing football on the pitch as you did to being a complete idiot off it, then you wouldn't be a bad player. However, you don't and unfortunately for you, you won't be able to live off your name for much longer. Stealing off students, covering fans in takeaway food because you don't like the truth, using the phrase 'don't you know who i am?' when people take exception to your embarrassing behaviour on nights out... Thanks for nothing you useless tosser.

Chez Posted 8 May, 2009 Share Posted 8 May, 2009 You have been harsh on Euell, I am not sure you know much about footy. Less harsh on Bradley ....he just hasn't been consistent within games, promised much but delivers less I've supported BWP because of he pace he offers and I think he should haev got a lot more games up front this season than he did. With him in the side we can play the ball over the top or down the channels and he turns defences. No other striker has offered us that. Where he comes a cropper is his shooting. He scored cutting in against Reading from just inside the box, but that has to be the longest distance he has ever scored from. He must have shot 50 times from `long' (outside the box) range this season and all efforts have been terrible, woeful in fact. The other area he has been a let down is 1 on 1s. He said he learned a lesson at Coventry but he didn't and he still doesn't take the chances offered. Clean through against Burnley on the last day of the seaosn and he ****s it. This alone conerns me about next season as even if we do create will he score enough of those chances - its doubtful to say the least. I think we need pace up front and thats why I'd like to keep him, but apart from that asset he offers little. Off field antics alone mean I won't shed a tear if he leaves. I still worry though that should he leave will we actually bring someone else in better. Again I doubt it.
Pat from Poole Posted 8 May, 2009 Share Posted 8 May, 2009 If they were each on £1K a week, we'd be sad to lose them. Hugely overpaid relative to their "talents". If Wright-Phillips didn't have a famous footballing father, it is highly doubtful he would ever have played at a level above League 2.

Burger Posted 8 May, 2009 Share Posted 8 May, 2009 Euell's a good motivator...maybe make a good manager one day, but don't want him in a Saints shirt again, even in L1 he would still be below what is required. BWP may be worth keeping on much lower wages.
Arizona Posted 8 May, 2009 Share Posted 8 May, 2009 They can both leave as far as I'm concerned. BWP really hasn't progressed at all since he got here. Started off with something like 12 goals, then about 8 last year. This season he hasn't featured that much and has been pretty forgettable other than that one afternoon in Reading. Euell is just nowhere near consistent enough and the last couple of years has relied on a about 5 decent games to try and save his season. Has he scored at all other than the Ipswich game? We've just been relegated with a spineless side which would struggle to be midtable in L1, even without a points deduction. We need to do more than just release Saga and Skacel IMO. It's no wonder all the players say they want to stay, I doubt any of them other than a certain 3 or 4 would get into another CCC side. Next please. If they were on 'normal' CCC wages ie 10/11k/wk for the pair of them we would have had the other 11K at our disposal for a right back and perhaps another forward man. 5.5K/wk is good money in the CCC, you can pick what you want for that amount. As they were here and we needed players we started delving into the ultra bargain basement for players on Lge 2 or lower salaries(or parent club assisted) and got what we paid for --- pure crap or disinterested players. Once Saganowski came back the sums just got worse and we had to let players like Cork go.

sidthesquid Posted 8 May, 2009 Share Posted 8 May, 2009 Not much appreciation from me Euell - effort but no ability BWP - a little ability but no effort Both hugely overpaid & have hugely underperformed for us (Nice one George) Euell tried quite hard but really wasn't up to it last year, never mind this, and for all his effort 2 goals in 20 odd games at centre forward is cr+p BWP not only has no brain, but no heart, either. I don't think I have ever seen one player caught offside so often, he always shoots when he should pass & vice versa & he hates it when the big lads get a bit rough. Living off his name & I hope someone else if fooled by it and takes him away.
Edmonton Saint Posted 8 May, 2009 Share Posted 8 May, 2009 Jason Euell sums up to me everything that has gone wrong with the club in the last few seasons, Lots of pay for little reward. People need to ask themselves whether he has been value for money, the answer I am afraid is a resounding no.
