New away kit next season?

Spades

Recommended Posts

as flybe are staying put, i would imagine we will continue with the plan to continue our home kit for next season

However our away kit is due to change this summer. Does anyone have any snippet of what colour or design it may be? Some teams display their new kits for the next season on their last games of the season, i thought perhaps we may do this agianst Forest as we are now Umbro and not the 'S' logo.

IMO it has to be back to yellow. Iv always liked the idea of a yellow and blue reverse of the home kit, but this has never happened, probably for a reason. But i definately think we need to get past experimenting with new colours and stick to the yellow away kit... if wedecide not to though, i always really liked the black shirt from the play-off season.

No clue, on account of the fact that anyone involved with the decision is probably on their bike by now, and we don't have any money to pay for kit up front, or necessarily a club to kit out.

We will, if we exist, be getting a new away kit if the original Umbro agreement stands.

Though most of the new Umbro kits for next season are frankly boring, very plain in line with England's new effort.

Sweden have a nice new kit in yellow and blue though.

I'll stick some pics of new Umbro styles up soon.

New West Ham away (leaked) : west-ham-united-09-10-umbro-kit.jpg

Blackburn away : blackburn-rovers-09-10-umbro-away-kit.jpg

Sunderland : sunderland-09-10-home-umbro-kit-4.jpg

From which you can identify the short and socks styles, anyway.

Quite like this though, even if it is a 2008/9 template:

Interesting (almost) that all these shirts have the same Umbro logo as Saints' current kits, not the new, rounder-edged Umbro logo that the new England kit has.

I would like to keep the grey kit but realise that IF we get new owners they will get loads of revenue from a new kit that will help pay staff, wages, loans taken out to secure our future.

We are meant to be replacing the grey kit anyway - in fact as fans we got lucky that the club decided to keep the home kit for two seasons, because that was meant to be changing every year as well.

Though as they ran out of hooped socks months ago and all the teams except the first team have been wearing plain red socks with a white band since about February it'll be interesting to see if we have any socks to start the season with (if we get that far) !

I actually think Saints should launch the red shorts and socks they've been using with the flint kit for most of the season, you've never been able to buy them in the Megastore and we should probably get an away kit that goes with the red/white trim on those.

For those thinking I'm being a bit precious about us having kit, Luton started the season 08/09 wearing 1988-replica adidas retro shirts that had been worn in a pre-season fundraising Charity match because after Admin, relegation, takeover, etc they didn't have any kit come the start of the season last August.

I quite like that Blackburn away kit, make it all yellow with the trim being just blue instead of red and blue and think that could look quite good.

On the other hand, whilst the sunderland kit looks ok, that badge thing they have going is discusting... please dont follow that saints

Shame there's been a "cease and desist" on the new Umbro Man City kits, a couple of those were leaked and the white one with a black/red diagonal looked quite plain but pretty nice, something like that in yellow and blue/white would be interesting.

The shop were saying the other day that they've not ordered anything since March, that includes shirt lettering.

I seem to recall a forum member who was once involved in the Saints kit process telling me that whilst yellow kits are the most popular, they also don't sell very well - presumably this is because pretty much anyone who is a Saints fan has at least one yellow kit already, and not many people are as completely obsessive about this kind of thing as I am.

FWIW I hate the pointless woven pattern on the back of the "flint" kit, and I don't like the colour, though the style is quite nice, but I have grown to like it in the last... ooh, 8 days or so...

Lee's point about the kit purchasing and numbers is borne out by our Forum match, home team wearing the 2006-8 kit with the broad black stripe on the sleeve and BLUE names and numbers from the last yellow kit, away team in current half price BOGOF flint kit with white numbers not the usual red ones. It was like a merchandising dumping ground !

I would like a kit to commemorate our 125th anniversary (if we get that far), that ties in with our origins. Old Gold/Amber and Black halves or quarters (similar to the red and white one we had for the last Dell game), in the colours of the old Hampshire Regiment. Could be based on the Blackburn template.

I like you're thinking here, Amber and Black could look quite nice, Bristol Rovers have done it with a stripe.

There is the club on the brink and we are mulling over whether we should go for grey or yellow next season.

Do you reckon they gripped on to the rails of the Titanic as it started listing and discussed what they would have for dinner the following night?

That elephant is still sat in the corner, and he is wearing red and white so you can see him.

You do realise this is a fans forum on the internet?

This thread not being started would not have resulted in us being taking over any quicker, you know.

Get over it.

Back on topic - the slate grey kit is ruddy awful. Yellow and blue, or two tone blue is fine for us.

they haven't noticed, leave them to chat about fashion.

And don't let on we were relegated....

I take it you are working on a takeover yourself as we speak then?

Because it seems to me you're aimlessly chatting on a message board as well.

Don't you realise we're about to go bust? Bust, I tells ya, buuuuussst!

Looks about right with the FLYBE box

Let the new owners kids loose with their felt tip pens

I DONT CARE if we end up playing in pink shirts with green hearts & skate coloured spots as long as WE have a club & team to support

Plus it would p155 of umbro

BUT IF I HAD A CHOICE would like the Old Gold & Black shirt Idealy sold in shop like Last Game At The Dell Shirt in cotton sponsorless

Brilliant to see all the nobbers having a pop at people for having the temerity to discuss football-related things rather than bloody takeovers for the moment.

Apart from it being a bit of welcome relief, anyone who'd actually bothered to read the thread would see the odd "IF we exist" scattered in amongst the designs and wants.

Still, some people just want to be miserable... Anyway, back to planning my takeover...

Here's a nasty idea...

Nobody knows who is behind the bids at the club due to NDA's

So phone up Umbro on Monday, say you are part of the background team working on the takeover and trying to get a feel for what new away kit the club could have so you can build it into your cash flow plans and ask them to send a salesman down to you with samples pdq..

Then pick a few favourites post them up here and bingo

Oops sorry that was an evil thought... they may not be very happy when they find out

forget I ever mentioned it

Had a few spare minutes so knocked up a few designs using existing team kits from england and europe. On the most part they look quite good, i dont think its possible to have an ugly yellow and blue trim kit...
