If you are fairly sedentary (i.e. sit at a desk all day!), any carb-based foods (pasta, potatoes, bread etc) will just be wasted energy food that turns to fat. Same with too much protein - if you don't burn it off, it just "turns" to fat. A good meal is all about balance, I can't remember the formula exactly but it is about 40% carbs is a good balance for a healthy meal. We do eat too much pasta - go to Italy, you'll see the plate loaded with lush, fresh food with less pasta than we'd have. A lot of people also have toast for breakfast, sandwiches for lunch, then pasta for tea ... no wonder this nation is growing outwards. Porridge for breakfast (slow burning energy), salad with a small amount of chicken for lunch and a decent, balanced evening meal consumed before 8pm ideally. Coupled with some exercise and cutting down on booze, you'll be in shape in no time - it isn't rocket science! (Oh, and no refined foods, pizzas, deep fried freezer crap etc.)

Most English girls, of low intellect, aspire to be Katie Price.

Totally agree. Having just come back from a week in Seattle working, even the girls/women over there are so much better presented and turned out than the chavs over here. Polite, well dressed, better manners, no swearing and in fact generally, better looking.

Would totally agree with that. I don't remember a time in my lifetime that every was so "expensive" in comparison to income. I guess the closest would be in the late 80s when interest rates were really high and my parents had to make huge cut-backs? I pop in our local shop most days to get provisions; bread, milk, fruit juice, maybe some chicken etc., at least £25 each time ... madness.

Public Sector Pensions - Today's Times
Patrick Bateman replied to JackanorySFC's topic in The Lounge
Misguided disdain. Anyway, in the "private sector", most of us had pay cuts and T&Cs re-negotiated. I had 2 pay cuts and no pay rise in 4 years. So, what did I do eventually, I GOT ANOTHER JOB. With better terms, a better package overall, a 40% pay rise and a better pension. There are always people to replace those that don't want to agree to the new terms or accept a pay decrease for the good of the company and to KEEP A JOB. So no, people in the "Private sector" accepted it, realised we were lucky to be employed and got on with it. Those that didn't accept it were let go and replaced by someone more grateful. Those who didn't want to take a 3rd pay cut got another job. The "problem" isn't the private sector's fault either. We all have to chip in and help fix this country and if that means taking pay cuts and staying in a job to avoid claiming benefits, then that's the way it is. -
Except Owen of course

My wife's school, has 30-odd teachers in it, ONE is striking - an old one, far removed from what everyone else in the private sector has endured the last few years. All the other teachers are partnered to professional people mostly "in IT", so they understand what everyone else has endured and aren't striking. -

Michael Owen ... hahaha

I hate Coldplay and have always hated them. My other half had them on the TV when I walked in the lounge so I sent her upstairs to watch - awful band, rubbish music and the lead singer is an absolute bellend. As for U2, 2 maybe 3 good songs, but a bunch of bellends as well.
-
Totally agree.

I'm waiting for one of the many forum dullards on here to post about how wrong it is ... comon, where are you?
-
That is fantastic!! Great start to my morning!

And? Agents are leaches. If it means we're paying less then, good.

F*ck it, anyone play the bass guitar. I can play drums, I know a few vocalists. DellDays plays recorder and I'm pretty sure a few people on here can play keyboards. Let's not bother with the football and just watch the band in the Chapel, great idea. I'll get my Strachan wig out while I smash the drums.
-
It's a sh*t idea.

Is Cortese the best chairman in British football?

Agree, the ginger wigs for Strachan worked well -

Give over, bunch of pansies. Hardley. 5th year in 1992. (Is the 5th year same as year 11, I haven't a clue) -
I went mid-end June. Weather was nice - about 24/25/26 C, only 1 day of rain out of 8. Just the evenings got coldish, so take some long sleeves if you're eating outdoors.

Barcelona tonight - an insight into our future?
Patrick Bateman replied to Turkish's topic in The Saints
I think we could start them off. Get a couple of sons popped out from our other halves, down the Academy at the age of 2, Saints will be on the way. -
Rubbish. Messi wouldn't get in the current Saints team. Anyone else notive Berbatov missing yesterday from Man Utd? People are rubbishing us signing Owen as we've in fact landed Berbatov. Fact.
