How can naming an accused compromise a trial? The police do it all the time and sometimes all sorts of skeletons come out the woodwork. Hain did the right thing IMO, money should not be able to interfere with the justice system.
-
Was garbage today, massive downgrade on Tadic.
-
Hard to blame Hughes for that, should have won comfortably but our finishing and composure in the last third was shockingly bad. Having said that Newcastle were a mess and we failed to put them to the sword. I’m not convinced any manager would get much out of that squad but it is getting close to the point where we might as well roll the dice. If they have someone decent lined up and ready to go they might as well sack him. I doubt that is the case though with the clowns who run our club.
-
You can’t even get you facts right, Hughes wasn’t even manager for the Newcastle defeat. Last season he faced a nightmare run in with a team that was a mess. He had one poor result and that was his first game in charge. After that he got draws away at Leicester and Everton, beat Bournemouth and Swansea and only lost to Arsenal, Chelsea and Man City. I’m not sure exactly what more you can expect from a Saint manager - should we be expected to beat Chelsea or turn Everton over on their own patch? Criticism this season is fair enough but to say he didn’t do well last year is complete ******.
-
So what results would Hughes have to have got to be more than Meh?
-
Really? His first game away at West Ham was his only poor result. Are we supposed to be turning over teams like Leicester and Everton on their own patch then. Or I suppose losing to Man City, Chelsea and Arsenal is below what is expected of Saints? Some of our fans really are ****ing idiots.

While I don’t agree with much of what this guy says he does hit the nail on the head with regards to the accountability and remoteness of the EU, that is fundamentally the issue. When Cameron went to Brussels Looking for concessions on free movement the EU should have acted on the concerns of a large proportion of EU voters, that’s how democracy works. Instead they just said “**** you, you signed up to it”. Again with the negotiations it looks like they are putting political dogma over the interests of the European people. They can’t give us a good deal even it is good for Europe because it threatens their precious project or in their words “protects the integrity of the EU”. All the British people wanted was some control over their borders, most people don’t give a **** about the EU courts or trade deals around the world, it’s just the basic right to control who comes in.

A draw at Bournemouth is a decent result, we had the chances to win and it sounded like a good performance. Hughes needs a win against Newcastle and continued improvement to avoid the chop. I think this squad will struggle whoever is in charge but fail to beat Newcastle in their current state and you might as well roll the dice.

Even if we kept Tadic we needed to add quality. Instead all they did was spend a few million on someone who didn’t even stand out in the Scottish league. I’m struggling to see what Hughes can do with this squad until we get some pace and creativity. He certainly doesn’t have the players to play 4-2-3-1.
-
Notice when people mention we have quality in the squad no one mentions anyone creative or a striker. That’s our problem and that’s why Hughes has had to play around with different formations. We struggled in this area big time last season and then flogged our most creative player in the summer - what exactly did we expect to happen? Ings has been a good addition but Mo doesn’t look as effective as Tadic so from a creative midfield situation the squad has gone backwards.

Ahead! I tend to go to about every other home game - last time I saw us win live was 19th August 2017.

You genuinely think withdrawing from the Paris agreement is a good thing? **** me.

Can't see anything other than a bournemouth win by 3 or 4.

My line would be somewhere below gay cakes and above genocide promotion, but then my beliefs are not based on a centuries old work of fiction. My point was not that the law is wrong, more that the winners of the court battle are a bunch of homophbic arse holes. The guy who sued them is probably also a bit of a nob as Turkish suggests but maybe he’s just fed up of homophobic attitudes and was just trying to make a point.
-
I have no respect for homophobic views, wether they are religious or not. The bakers were not being asked to support gay marriage, they were providing a service for a person for a cost. It would have been supporting the cause if they did it for free or were asked to put their logo next to the message. The cake, and the message on the cake was Mr Lee's. I have worked in the creative industry my whole career. I have worked on many things I have not agreed with and certainly don't support. Advertising campaigns, websites or brochures for political parties, campaigns, businesses and religious I dislike or don't agree with. **** me I have even done work for Portsmouth FC - I guess that makes me a Portsmouth supporter? I my opinion the bakers showed a lack of respect to the customer and they were happy to do that because they are homophobic. Whilst the legal decision was correct (nobody should be forced to print a message they dislike) I find sad that in this day and age it needed to come to this.
-
I agree that legally it is correct but I don’t see why a victory for a bunch of homophobic nut jobs is cause for celebration.
-
If someone wanting a cake supporting Sharia law or the death penalty the bakers should just respect the fact that people have different views and bake the ****ing cake. As long as there is nothing offensive or illegal on there what’s the issue? They are not being asked to agree with any cause just to bake a cake. The religious idiots should just chill out. Jesus would have baked the guys cake - good will to all men, love thy neighbour and all that.
-
As a point of law it’s correct but I can’t see what’s worth celebrating about it. Bunch of backward religious bigots get to alienate a section of the community - great. I don’t get the issue, if you don’t agree with gay marriage - don’t marry a gay. Not sure how other gay people marrying effects them in any way whatsoever. I find the homophobia in Christianity disgusting.
-
Not sure what it’s a victory for, religious bigots? Just bake the gay’s cake FFS.

It’s no necessarily the amount of money, it’s just this “strategy” we have that stops us getting players that AFC Bournemouth can get. The aim every summer should be to have the best players as possible within the budget for the start of that season, sure, ideally you want players who will increase in value and make a profit on but that shouldn’t be the aim.
-
And there you have it, the reason we are sh!t, in a nutshell.
-
I'd give Hughes until the next international break. We've got Bournemouth and Man City away, Watford and Newcastle at home. Need to be getting 5-6 points from those or give him the shove. I'm not convinced anyone will be able to do very much better with our squad but there comes a point when it's worth a roll of the dice - the last thing we need to do is leave it too late like last year's shambles. We need an inspired appointment plus serious action in the January window IMO.
-
But at the Mayflower the chances of being entertained are pretty good.
-
This says it all, we survived by the skin of our teeth last season yet Ings aside have just made the team worse by flogging Tadic.
-
Maybe we need relegation like we needed administration...
aintforever replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
True but that was just because we got rid of the PLC and fell on our feet with Marcus. Get relegated now and we go from being a Prem club with a sh!t owner to being a skint championship club with a sh!t owner.
