What a winkle

I think Saturday was the first time I have heard so much dissent from around us towards the folks who left from 88 minutes, on the flip side seeing so many other normally early leavers still sat on the edge of their seats. Even Sammy Saint was still sat on the "cinder track" in front of the Family Centre...............and he had a drum he was tapping lightly!

A few times now he has spoken about “affinity with the club”. Whilst we can all say talk is cheap, I get the feeling that despite having had to push water uphill since he came in, personally he actually enjoyed his playing days at the club many moons ago, and bonus aside genuinely personally wants to do well for the club. Bloomin great seeing him doing his nut on the sidelines. Some folks say he rubbish, don’t want him here, taking 2 teams down this season (that last one is BS Stoke haven’t improved much since he left and Lambert has had longer), think if you look at Adkins, McMenemy, even Koeman, sometimes a manager fits with a club, I would have no issue if Mark Hughes turns out to be another right fit.

Those 2 look like it’s the first game they have been to all season, and the cold reality of the situation has finally dawned on them.

I said him ages ago, but noted when looking up where he is, Leuven (the home of Stella Artois) they are also owned by the Thai folks who own Leicester, figured considering the way he left might not have been as clear cut as the media had us believe, and he’s sat in a very sweet position (despite living in Belgium).

You can’t blame Hughes or keep dragging Stoke up, in reality Lamberts had plenty of time to get them firing and has done very little, so like us their issues are probably deep set. There was a moment in the West Ham game during the second half when we were going through the motions and WH were coasting, there was a shot of him and Mark Bowen and he looked like he had been given a tool box when he joined Saints, what he needed was a Phillips screwdriver and some pliers, but all he had was a bag of Spanner’s. Arsenal was much much better, Chelsea we were doing pretty well, as soon as their goal went in you could visibly see the players crumble. Tonight, the manager can only do so much, but when the game kicks off, at this level, you expect the players, who’s only basic job in life is to kick a bag of air to a team mate, when that goes out the window en-masse what can the manager do in reality. The wonderous Tadic had the ball second half and he passed it back to PEH’s backside where he was sat on the floor after the ball broke loose to Tadic after an interaction between PEH and a Leicester player, there are acres of pitch and plenty of other players in a red and white shirt, if I am shouting at the screen WTF!!! What the chuff is going through the managers mind when your supposed most skilful player on the pitch is making hairbrained decisions like that. Hughes has added a bit of spark to the team, what happens next season is totally out of our hands, if Kruger and Reed are running the show no doubt it will be a manager out of a lucky dip, if Hughes wants to stay I wouldn’t have an issue.

You know full well that diddly squat will happen, snakes in the grass the lot of them, especially if that tosspot Mike Riley is still sitting at the top table.

Mike Dean is 49 refs in the Prem self certify that they are fit to Ref after a certain age. Remember Peter Walton, he of giving a penalty against Brighton when Fonte was felled 6 feet outside the box, he was 54 and signing him self back on the rosta with the same arrogance he oversaw the game with. In La Liga Mike Dean would have been retired 4 years ago - no ifs or buts.

As the title says Dale Winton has popped to the Supermarket in the sky, at only 62. Eric Bristow went only the other week at 60................ I feel a 6 year party coming on just in case!

When they started off down in the Chapel / Kingsland Tunnel they looked pretty uneasy as if they had been asked to do it against their wishes. They started very quietly with a samba beat like you hear at Brazil games, I have to say because it wasn’t too loud where I was it wasn’t offensive, then they seemed to shuffle up the sidelines to the Northam. The Ingerland band who turned up at the Ladies international were a pretty pants by comparison. if anything the flags in the Kingsland were more cringeworthy.

If you watch Willian whenever a free kick is awarded against Chelsea he makes a point of standing in front of the ball to prevent a quick kick being taken.

Does no one else in the team, beyond JWP, actually practise taking Corners and Free Kicks. Stoke game I think, it was like no one had ever taken one before. Its almost like everyone else sits in the Staplewood stands checking their Twitter account while Prowsey practises on his own. Saturday after he was subbed we got a free kick and it was like Bertrand suddenly realised James wasn't on the pitch and with Tadic gone too it was his turn. Last season Ryan was whipping in some evil corners from the right hand side but this season he seems to have become last resort with Tadic taking them when JWP isn't on the pitch, an all he seems to do is float them deftly into the keepers waiting arms more often than not. I just find it bizarre that without JWP on the pitch corners and free kicks for us are nearly always pointless.

I thought Staplewood was equipped with accommodation for the team, the original thinking was the players arriving back late from a game wouldn’t be disturbing the rest of their own house when getting home in the small hours. That’s was something I recall from all the alleged state of the art sport science we were applying to help make us the wonderous phenomena we once were.

For 70 minutes the oppos weren’t trying as hard as we were.

At least going to Leicester he can nip into Bicester Village like every other Chinese visitor to our fair land. Probably here to make sure everything is going to plan with regards to our falling through the trap door so he can syphon off a lump of the parachute payment to service his debt.
