  1. ouch, that is bad. Unfortunately these days you cannot just hand the money over but need to investigate and make judgements on the information on an annual basis. Sometimes it is worth opting out.
  2. Yep agree, we've got to be a bit smarter about it and start looking at players that are in a bit of a rut but have shown they have talent (Lovren) or as Turks has stated, scour the top divisions from the smaller European countries.
  3. Always tried to put in as much as I can from the start. If you don't see it to begin with you will not miss it and adapt. You'll need to check the pension fund to make sure it's investing strategy is to your liking.
  4. It does say in the article and that is a cause of some concern. What are his duties? Jamie thinks he's to replace NC.
  5. There was only this one until Wigan blew it last season... No team who achieve greater than 50% possession have been relegated from the PL. Still not bad, only one team in 63!
  6. Depends on a few things really - access to, I'd hope good coaches at the academy, decent pay at an early stage and a loan out to get experience. But I'd expect the attitude of many of the kids are focused on the money rather than what's best for a career as a player. McEachran is at Wigan at the moment, 21 this March and could have a decent career ahead of him.
  7. Care? No, certainly not, but laugh at their attempted rise but epic fail, why yes!
  8. FF will be in seventh heaven with Saints winning away and the Skates losing at home!
  9. Thanks for the update.
  10. Form of the players should count if you are looking to get points. Lovren and Wanyama are the major concerns from that perspective. How long is Lovren out for?
  11. I think the deal is with a few good international players signed it would be the quickstart of raising the standard to one that could be sustained with more home grown products within the 'world class' learning and training environment over the coming seasons. One aspect of Cortese that hasn't been mentioned in this thread is the absolute control that he wanted which obviously KL was against. It's not clear how much money is avialable and is still in the pot to use for player purchase. But I'd hope there is a better evaluation of players and who to offer a deal to than we have recently as the team cannot afford to have players that don't perform or take too long to get up to a level that will be of benefit.
  12. Top stuff again Rallyboy. Penny got a call last night from those boffins at Pelamis to help with their research into wave power.
  13. They are all massive in this promotion season didn't you know. They were told play-offs were a minimum for such a massive club with massive support. #massiveportsmouth
  14. Are you please to see me or is that a head up your butt?
  15. What's David Dein upto these days?
  16. Agree with this. It's hard to see a better option.
  17. I don't know why you all are focused on the wrong end of the table! They are still only 12 points away from the play-offs easy to get with 21 games left, newish manager syndrome and fantastic contacts with the other clubs to have their pick of reserve and young players. You know it's going to happen, Wembley beckons again after a season of cup finals.
  18. So what second string / youngsters from the premier league have they loaned so far these passed few seasons? I can only think of Potts.
  19. But what is surprising is they are only 12 points from the play-offs, hope must still be lingering and there are some important games coming up against their promotion rivals next month, so let's see if these cup finals can be the start of a glorious return to league one!
  20. They have had quite a few injuries to a small squad so not too bad to keep in touch of the play-offs at the half way point of the season
  21. The pressure is on for the new management team. From the guardian's half season report by fan Benedict West... Season in one word Struggle How's it going? A tough half-season in League Two. We have sparked occasionally, but faltered too frequently. Bright beginnings to matches have fizzled out into dull draws and abject starts have been followed by promising performances, without success. We now find ourselves four points from the bottom of the table, following a winless streak of eight games. Maulings by Oxford and Newport were followed by home defeats to Southend and S****horpe. There's hope that the new management team of Richie Barker and Steve Coppell can turn things around (with encouraging words so far), but there's hardly anything to build on. Who's been the star? Ricky Holmes has been the closest we've had to a consistent performer. He is currently the top assister in League Two (seven assists), which is decent considering our top scorer has not scored in the league since August. Biggest disappointment? The squad failing to gel in the way that many of us convinced ourselves that it would. Community spirit and fan-ownership does not transfer into a unified team. (I should also mention the match-fixing allegations against Sam Sodje which were the last thing we needed associated in any way with the club. Dreadful.) All we want for Christmas is ... A revival – something to cling on to and a semblance of stability. At this stage, we should forget pre-season predictions of play-offs and promotion – it's survival we're aiming for. Benedict West
  22. Thread calling Trousers and the groundhog pic!
  23. I bet the case wasn't straightforward, plenty of travel to exotic locations and was there was a twist at the end? anyway what complete idiots, especially the Saints fan for spitting and a likely ban coming his way.
  24. If it was because Cork and Yoshida were rusty that they didn't get to the speed of the game, it's up to the manager that they get more game time. A bit more rotation and sub appearances and they may have been better prepared. Still, 7th place and that can also be a fine position to finish the season and achievable.
