Took my boy at nearly 3 to his first game, which was the final home game of the 08/09 season, when we were relegated by Burnley. Not an auspicious start, obviously, but I wanted him to go to at least 1 Saints match in case we went bust and didn't 'make it'... Happily, he still goes now - aged 4 1/2 - and really loves it. Hopefully, a future season ticket holder in the making!

Chaplow would be a big miss. Hopefully the rumour that a permanent deal is a done deal (as per the PNE chairman) is true as it would be a shame if he's already played his last game for us. Getting back to Lambo. Yes Rickie, it has been horrible. Permission granted to return to goal machine status.

Hull have agreed deals for Aaron McLean and Matty Fryatt. Forest are signing a US international. Deals are being done in readiness for 1st Jan so teams can have their new signings available for as long as possible over the remainder of the season. Hopefully, NA and NC have used the quiet time we've had match-wise to set up some deals so our squad is as strong as it can be, as soon as possible.

This. NA hasn't had a transfer window to improve the team so let's who, if anyone he wants to bring in, and if he's given the backing to do so.

Maybe that's the key point - at this level. Maybe neither player wants to be at this level having been at top 4 Prem clubs albeit with minimal success. Come February, after clubs have done their transfer window business, these 2 might be more willing to get their careers going again in League 1.

Puncheon hat-trick?

It's no coincidence that Hammond's upturn in form came when he was partnering Chaplow in midfield. Chaplow has reasonable pace which means Deano isn't required to be so mobile and allows him to play in the holding role to try to direct the play a little. With Morgan & Hammond, we have two players who want to do the same thing and it doesn't work as well. Sometimes players just function better alongside certain players - Beattie and Ormerod were a prime example.

Not quite sure any of the players turned up today...

We've lost the unpredictability and pace both Papa and Antonio gave us last year and it's a big loss. Their pace alone would often mean defences wouldn't keep a high line, which had the added bonus of giving us space in front of the back four. Now, there's f**k all chance of Rickie beating anyone for pace so they can squeeze the play making it difficult for us to create anything. Big changes required in January. Keep Chaplow for starters to give energy to the midfield then spend on 2 strikers and at least one winger. Any shrapnel left and a centre half wouldn't go amiss either.

I'm still stunned that we did nothing to bring in a couple of loans before the window closed. We need different options - pace mainly up front and out wide. Our squad is paper thin quality-wise and the decision to let Puncheon out without replacement was daft. As if Lee Holmes was going to be able to stay injury free from November to 1st Jan. We might have great plans for the future but we needed a few f**king ideas for now first.

Is it just me or are we starting to look a little thin on the ground in terms of the bench now? Losing Fonte, Holmes, Barnard, Chaplow and Richardson means we're half a team down and mainly down to the kids after the first XI. Thought Chappers might be ready for today, given NA thought he was going to be ready for Hartlepool last week. 3 weeks out now; injury must be worse than 1st thought?

Pardew needs to get himself a Geordie legend to get the fans onside. I'd promote Beardsley to assistant although no idea if he'd be any good at the job!

We've got players in Mills and Puncheon on loan at higher division clubs; discards like Wayne Thomas and Simon Gillett who joined a higher division club and now it looks like 2 of our former coaching staff will find themselves in the Prem by Xmas (Wally Downes at West Ham and Pardew at Newcastle). Bizarre! Who's next???

Just Saints luck to pick up 3 or 4 injuries less than 48 hours after the loan window closed. Never mind a pathway for the kids to get into the 1st team, it'll be a f**king motorway if anyone else gets a knock.
