Surely if you want to celebrate the heritage of 125 years then there is merit in reverting to the original kit ? IMO, one season in a changed strip will not make a jot of difference to our worldwide standing ! Arsenal did it a few years ago when they wore a burgundy colour for a season but I can't imagine that people had difficulty in adjusting back to their traditional red thereafter ?

Include the 10 deducted points and we would currently be 5 points off the play-offs ! Should our 'actual' final total achieve the top six then I don't reckon that it is much behind the plan (given that the start was hampered by new players settling, time constraints etc.. )! My guess is that the Echo AGREED to the arrangement and then reneged on it to suit themselves ! There is a big difference between being 'asked a favour' (to delay the announcement) and actually formally agreeing to something ! I do not know for sure but it could be that this 'breach of promise' really rattled Cortese more than anything !

This whole discussion is extremely subjective and many people quote todays successful managers and seem to imagine that they are the ones to emulate ! Yes, Paul Lambert is the flavour of the month at the moment but only recently you could have said that about Phil Brown, Roy Hodgson has total respect at Fulham yet was vilified after a short period at Blackburn ! Burley was rated as good before coming to us and Strachan was rated as poor but the general concensus is that WGS did much better ! IMHO the only real test of a manager's ability is to judge over a period of years, not weeks or months and this certainly applies in the case of Pardew as he had to start from ground zero !!

A lot depends on how settled Pardew is/becomes down here : 1) Where does he live ? 2) Does he have kids at school ? c) Is his wife happy here ? These are issues which can influence decisions in addition to career considerations ! (Kelvin Davis is a good example of this!)

A few years ago, when we were in the Prem I asked this question and was informed that they did not intend to give access to the seating system as a matter of policy ! The reason given was that people would keep space around them, meaning that block bookings would not be possible ! Personally, I don't accept this theory but that is what I was told at the time ! Airlines and cinemas seem to manage so I don't see why a football match should be different ! Let's see what happens after the new survey though ??
