People have to realise and accept that we were always going to give JRod this chance to come back. We stuck by a player through a rough injury and spent a load of money in the process, so we were always going to see it through to the end and this includes a period where he is trying to get match fit. So it's no good going on about how we should have bought someone in because he was a risk, that's not how it works. There will be an end game for JRod and the Saints, he will either become an effective player again or he will move on. But a club of our size was always going to go through the period we are now in trying to bring him back and we just have to accept that.

As it stayed regional we had more chance of drawing Pompey if they got through, then if it was an open draw.

As you say you are entitled to your opinion and you are entitled to do what you want, but at the end of the day you enjoy stalking animals and killing them and others don't. A top ten club should be able to cope doing that. We are simply not going to bloat the squad just to deal with an injury crisis, that is what fringe players are for and we as a club want that pathway open.

No one wanted JRod to leave before he was injured, but now people are prepared to write him off. He is our player and we just have to deal with getting him back to fitness, we have invested a lot of wages whilst he was injured and his transfer fee is now diminished so it's in our interest to try and bring him back and if that means the squad have to carry him then so be it. It is just unfortunate that Long got an injury as well whilst out with Ireland. People moan when players don't stick by the club but want the club to not stick by JRod. Fortunately the club is prepared to wait, for now and it will be great when RJod is back to full fitness and banging them in again.
