  1. but Saints success and stopping another team is exactly the same thing in this instance. It doesn't matter if Spurs win, lose or draw tonight, it will have little impact on our game as you can argue a different case for every scenario. The result of tonight's game isn't taken from a vote on here, it will happen regardless of what we want, so then why not want a Saints win at White Heart Lane that stops Spurs winning the league. We carry on with our last minute dash to beat last seasons tally and we stop Potchitinno and the Spurs fans getting the big one.
  2. Don't be a pussy the bigger prize is us finishing stopping them win the league, they weren't rampant against WBA and we have the game for them.
  3. I want Spurs to win so we can stop them next week, sweet.
  4. I don't know of a gate to the ground being opened by the police before or after Hillsborough. That match commander was clueless and out of his depth. I can't believe that because of the behaviour of the fans outside that this was the only course of action to take. People going on about the police having a mindset, but the police shouldn't. They should be passive until they are called to react. I'm 45 and went to plenty of away games in the 80's and we were treated with contempt by many coppers, I've never thrown a punch or been punched by a fellow fan. But I been hit by the police, bitten by a police dog, herded and man handled by them. All because I was a certain age out with a bunch of mates, having a laugh going to watch a football match. It must be remembered that non-violent fans outweighed violent fans many times over.
  5. Who looks the biggest ****, me on this horse or you with a track suit top and tie.
  6. Of course the complete blame lies with the police on that day, they were responsible for policing within the limitations of Hillsborough. Today there are no pens or fences and there are hardly any incidents of football violence in grounds. The problem has been solved by using different means but there was this narrative at the time that football fans were scum that didn't deserve anything other than cages and anyone who went to the football during this time will know how some police regarded them. We football fans just accepted the cages and the police behaviour though.
  7. The whole fencing and pen installations were a complete over reaction at the time, so all those being reductionists and putting some blame on general fan behaviour has to then also put some blame onto the authorities and media for whipping up a moral panic over football violence that led to measures that were a gross overkill and inherently dangerous.
  8. For our 2003 final you were moaning at how easy our route was. Saints can't win with you.
  9. wow being hard on the internet, I hope it makes you feel big.
  10. You classless ****, I'm sorry you're bored of hearing about 96 families fighting for the truth of their loved ones deaths.
  11. I have hated Everton ever since, so I'm pleased they lost that way.
  12. This completley sums you up, your obsession with trying to point out Southampton based hypocrisies gets in the way of simple logical thinking.
  13. Well if it's the club deciding it will be their moral system obvs.
  14. Thats up there with 'the wrong kind of leaves' type of ******** excuse. As if fans having different opinions would affect the managers performance.
  15. What about a team in seventh? His performances in the under 21's is no indicator of his future potential, with all the players out on loan he is not playing in a strong side.
  16. Glasgow is a great city, I used to go up there a bit when I knew people there. Anyone that thinks it's like the stereotype hasn't been there. I've been to a few Old Firm games and they lived up the the stereotype, which was nice.
  17. I noticed that, also the little conversation between Lallana and Louvren when they scored their first goal, pair of ****s, before Lallana nestled his head into Courtinio as he hugged him. I was just thankful that Forster didn't save Bentekes effort as he could well have pushed it out to the little ***** who would have had an open goal. Where are all of Lallanas mates tonight.
  18. The Middlesbrough boss for the chant alone 'our manager is Karanka, is Karanka'
  19. He can't have been that bad I don't remember him.
  20. I agree you have to use the cost of a player to value his worth to the club, but that is for interests sake only. Football isn't judged on a points per pound basis its judged on absolute outcomes, you score more goals then them you get the points, the team with the highest points at the end wins the league, it isn't pro rated on the amount you spent. Shane Long offers x amount and that doesn't change if he cost £8m, £10m or £12m, so as fans we should just be concerned about whether that x amount is good enough. There is an opportunity cost of buying him, the Long overspend could have been added to the Clasie money and bought someone even better, but as there is no transfer cap the extra we spent on Long didn't really stop us spending more on Clasies position if we had wanted, after all the Long overspend was only £4-6m and in the grand scheme of things that is nothing. If we got him for £6m we could have bought another player for £6m but would that have got us more points, I doubt it, you can only play 11 players at one time.
  21. The moaning about the fee is a product of the Football Manager generation, who equate the video game (are they still called that?) to real football. People would have been really happy if he cost £6m but we as fans should judge what a player can offer in absolute terms not relative terms against what his fee.
  22. What bizarre logic, you can make a bad touch and still be fouled, it doesn't indicate anything. And you are just a muppet.
  23. I remember being woken up by my dad and allowed downstairs in the seventies if the Saints were on motd. In the 84 cup run we were on the telly a few times and you could get the programme delivered before hand.
  24. So what is the connection between some one thinking he didn't feign injury and wanting to offer him a contract, here's a clue none. Your performance on this thread is like Gastons forus, below par, but without the glimpses of brilliance.
